Gah, I wish the messed up on making Luka, she's too beautiful Being that she might be a click war item, I'm kind of hopeful about getting her? I've heard that click wars are hell on earth but I'm crazy enough to do it lol

 

As was pointed out earlier we should probably wait for the English translation. I kind of think there will be a lottery, and it just isn't clear from google translate.

 

In the US you can enter the lottery twice, once in the international website, and once through Volks USA. If you win both you have to buy both, but if we are lucky and Volks USA does get to offer her, then maybe it will be like Usagi with lottery entries opening up well after the Japan results are out.

I saw the posts, I'm very aware that clearly translated info is needed. That's why I said 'might'.

I've been into DD for a few years now and I'm aware of the double entry US peeps get. Def not opting for that though, can't afford to buy two dolls and I only want one. Nor do I want to go through the hassle of finding a second buyer!

Hopefully the latter with Volks USA lotteries opening soon after JP's results! Seeing so many winners for the Kagamine twins was really exciting and makes me hopeful for Luka's release!

I love her aesthetic. I'm not a huge vocaloid fan, but I am really digging her sculpt and the parted lips. I wonder how she'll look in person. I know I won't have saved enough to enter the lottery by the time she comes around, so already wishing luck to those who plan to enter! (If she ends up being lottery, that is.)

The more I look at her, the more I'm feeling I just want the full outfit set + wig, so if I do win lottery I'll probably end up doing a split! I'm sure other people will too.

While Luka was always my favourite vocaloid, I really am not feeling that whole open mouth thing on her sculpt. I never liked open mouths on dolls. But her outfit is so good! And now they released the sakura one too! Gaah!

Seeing Luka in the print copy of Volks news I find I like her more.

 

Her microphone stand appears to be segmented, but no way to know if the two parts are glued. It seems to me like that would be a bad idea though. The DD mic stands are pretty sizable, and they would be kind of a pain to store if they didn't collapse.

I think this interpretation of Luka is right in-line with the other Vocaloids released thus far.

 

I can also understand why some people may be turned off by that as well, since how they view / what Luka means to them will vary greatly from person to person.

 

However I think it all comes down to how does she look as a standalone interpretation as a Volks DD. In this case I think they've done a fine job of conveying the character.

 

Remember folks: Luka may be more mature, but she's still only 20 years old (official bio?) and she's often depicted as still playful and mentoring Miku in many situations.

 

Short point: I'm entering whatever lotto/clickwar/thunderdome I need to to acquire this gal!

Huh, the box illustration is different to the other new illustration I thought they were using. She looks more like Luka here though, the old one her eyes were too big. Lookin nice

It doesn’t seem like Volks are having a sample at Doll Point which is a shame, but we’ll all finally get to see user photos the day after tomorrow - from Dolpa and also the owner photos from those that manage to get her. Not much longer...!

Pretty sure that is supposed to be an idol dance pose, but it does scream body pillow.

 

Would really be nice to see some more photos of Luka. I’m sure I am entering for her, and as a web entry there will be lots of photos from the Dolpa to see beforehand, but I still want to see more now. I have a feeling she’s going to be stunning in person, and Volks product shots aren’t doing her justice.

Usagi's page was similar I think. They sold her in stores first come first serve iirc, but the webstore event was lottery. Her second outfit was clickwar on the webstore.

 

This will probably be the same thing, but we need the afterevent site to go up before we have all the details.

Yeah that was the conclusion I came to as well; it appears they only specify the details of how stuff is sold on the Dolpa After Event page(s) on the webstore site; that link is (currently non-functional) at the bottom of this page: http://www.volks.co.jp/dolpa39/top_en/

 

I thought that link was also on Luka's Japanese page before, but it isn't now so maybe I was mistaken.

Reading old threads here I see that it used to be that chances of winning didn't seem very good at all; I know I read a lot of posts from people who had entered a number of lotteries and never won a single one. But anecdotally, it looked like for those who posted, a much higher percentage of those who entered for Sailor Moon won her, though I know not everyone did as I recall Sinclair got a proxy to get him one from a Volks store afterwards.

 

I guess it comes down to how many Volks chooses to make based on perceived demand or whatever else versus how many people actually want a given doll.

 

Presumably, as with Sailor Moon, US residents may get two chances to get Luka with both the Volks International lottery and a later one on Volks USA. I suspect this probably won't be the case for Sheryl and Ranka because of Harmony Gold's eternal holding of Macross hostage in the US.

I'm pretty sure winning rates will be super high again since the releases of the last few Dolpas were easy to get. Except for a very low (!) percentage if ppl who lost but that's nothing compared to the number of ppl who los back then)

Rin and Len Kagamine were the same way. A huge number of people won compared to prior events, and both of them ended up being sold on the Volks webstore for months. I suspect Luka will be very popular, but at the same time I wouldn't expect her to be as popular a character as Sailor Moon.

I...I got her ;-; I almost didn’t bother because I knew a lot of people would be trying but then I read what SakuraSylph said about just going for it so I did.

I haven’t looked at mine at all - after I got her I took her straight to the mail booth to send her back to me because I don’t know how to take her massive box on the plane. I arranged for her to be delivered on Thursday night, because I have some stuff I need to get done before then and she would be a distraction. There will probably be lots of owner pics out before then though - many people had already opened theirs and were displaying them.

When I get back to my hotel I’ll upload some of the pics I took of other peoples Lukas unless someone else who went beats me to it. I personally think she’s gorgeous in person.
