MAGICAL MIRAI 2017 --DD Luka is Coming!!!!

I...I got her ;-; I almost didn’t bother because I knew a lot of people would be trying but then I read what SakuraSylph said about just going for it so I did.

I haven’t looked at mine at all - after I got her I took her straight to the mail booth to send her back to me because I don’t know how to take her massive box on the plane. I arranged for her to be delivered on Thursday night, because I have some stuff I need to get done before then and she would be a distraction. There will probably be lots of owner pics out before then though - many people had already opened theirs and were displaying them.

When I get back to my hotel I’ll upload some of the pics I took of other peoples Lukas unless someone else who went beats me to it. I personally think she’s gorgeous in person.

Her head must be huge. I know you've talked about how large Rin's head is and another tweet there shows her with Rin and Luka's head looks to be larger:

From Volks pictures I thought Lukas and Rins heads would be very similar besides the different mount but it seems like there are more differences.

I got her as well. So glad I was in Tokyo today as I’m only on vacation and will be going to Okinawa on monday. Lucky! =D

I wonder how many were available. When they got mine out I tried to sneak a glance behind the partitioning where they kept all the dolls and I saw a whoooooe load of SD Mia boxes but it’s really hard to tell with these things. But I hope people online are as lucky.

And her teeth are very cute! Her expression conveys different things from different angles, from below she actually looks a little haughty (anditskindasexylol)

Is it possible they added the teeth after they took pictures?

Mariko also has painted teeth, but I don't think there are any others with teeth painted in their default faceups.

 

Luka's looking soooooo much prettier than the Volks product photos, as usual. She's got this expression that really reminds me of a SD and she looks way better with the teeth.

Those pictures are really nice. They show the face and the mouth perfectly.

 

Sadly the lighting on the event wasn't the best. Most early pictures couldn't show her beauty.

Ohman, I want her so badly. I actually want two, or at least a second head, as I have an idea for another character. But I can't do any doll-related stuff for an unknown amount of time. Hopefully she'll continue to be available like the other Vocaloids. The non-Volks pics are stunning.

I know I've already said it Torino (a few times already...) but Congrats! And super duper congrats to you too Hallonkatten! I can't even imagine how amazing it was to get her from a Dolpa! I'm really, really happy for the both of you!

 

Due to some rather insane cirbleepstances Raven and I are scrambling to see if we can save for Luka in time. If we can it will be a really close call. The more owner pics I see the more I fall in love with her, even though she will be Raven's girl. Makes me miss Rin Kagamine who I still haven't had the chance to get. I'm really curious to see Luka and Dakota together. I'm not really sure why but I think it would just be fun. I wonder what Luka will think of the rest of our household. Len is sure going to be thrilled. He's so excitable that he will likely drive a few of our residents a bit crazy.

 

Trying to stay as positive as I can to not get overwhelmed by everything we are having to do to save for Luka. The most nerve wracking part for me is feeling like I'm sitting here just keeping my fingers crossed, hoping we are lucky enough for it to work out properly. Luck is not my strong point. I know there is always the option of hunting her down on the aftermarket but I'm doing everything I can to avoid that outcome. It is just such an extreme pain in the rear and so many more obstacles to have to deal with. Plus the biggest reason is I don't want Raven to have to wait any longer than is needed for his girl. Usually by this point he would be completely giddy to see the new pics of Luka that are surfacing, but I can already notice that he's beginning to tell himself that she isn't possible. I really did not want him to have to go through this but the negative cirbleepstances that popped up with no warning is going to make it a very, very close call. I just don't know yet if it will fall on the 'just barely made it' side of the line or 'just a bit too late' side. None of this would be a problem if she was simply a preorder. Or if it was even possible to know if Volks USA might/would do a separate lottery for her later.

 

I know for one that I'm not giving up. This is just too important to Raven.

I have faith that you’ll get there, SK - as I said before, as terrible as the timing was I’m really glad that if it happened for any DD, it was a vocaloid - every one of them to this point is among the easiest of DDs to get. But I still hope Raven can get her at the same time as everyone else.

 

Douhokunohentai got Luka too - he’s a pretty prolific photographer and posts pics of his Mikus/Rin very regularly, so we can expect many more Lukas from him besides the many ones he’s already posted:

And oh no, actually seeing owner pics, I really want her... Doubt I have the funds to try via lottery though, guess there's always secondhand. I'd love to get her and Miku, both my favorite Vocaloid, and occasionally have them dressed in cosplay as Cinnabar and Phosphophyllite from Land of the Lustrous.

Yeah, she seems to be a very three-dimensional sculpt. Head-on she's got the very sharp chin, yet from lower angles she looks square-jawed, and from the side or 3/4 view she's got chubby cheeks like Towa.

 

Proportionally her head doesn't look big to me, but those pics of her and Rin together it looks larger than Rin's, and someone, I think you, has pointed out that Rin has one of the largest DD heads. The pics I saw of them together could've also been perspective though.

So far it’s only the Senbonzakura waitress one. They might announce a new one for her at Magical Mirai in September - I really hope so, for Rin and Len as well.

Having seen several Lukas at Dolpa on Saturday, I can say she's easily one of my favorite sculpts.

The owner pictures make her look way better than the original ones. The mouth was bothering me but now it doesn't look so bad.

I was finally able to open her yesterday! I am editing an unboxing video as we speak and will post more pics in the New Arrival board once I make a thread, but here are some unedited pics for now.

Some points:

1. Her bangs are a little long in the front so I snipped it a little bit - although as you can see I did it imperfectly so I need to even it out a bit.

2. The two accessories - the jewel on her neck and the...pipe? decoration on her chest, attach separately. They are also a colossal pain in the rear. They kind of hook onto a fabric ring but come off really easily. The jewel isnt so bad, but the decorative chest piece will probably end up driving me crazy. Be careful with it.

3. She's the first of the vocaloid DDs that doesnt require her 'tattoo' as a decal on her skin, because the 03 is printed directly on to the leotard that's underneath her outfit.

4. Her head isn't bigger than Rin's. It's in scale with Miku's but perhaps slightly longer. (I think Miku's might be wider?) Here are some crappy phone pic comparisons.

5. So...this surprised me.

Her panties are black! I've never heard of a DD having black panties, and I'm not altogether sure this is the best idea. :/ I put them on wrong at first and when I took them off, it had left small black fibers on her skin. I will probably change her outfit including the underwear pretty soon - maybe they did stain-test them but I will probably give them a soak anyway. I think the reason for them is because the slit on the side of her skirt goes up pretty high which makes them slightly visible, so black does look better.

6. Takoluka is very very soft

 

Another thing, Volks recently revealed that there is going to be a special preorder for her limited to Volks VS/VIP members, in addition to her (probably lottery) regular release. While that likely doesn't include many people here, it does mean that a whole lot more of her are going to be made, which hopefully means she won't be hard to come by on the aftermarket if you lose the lottery, although I was expecting as much given that she's a Vocaloid.

Gah, I hate that. Wigs should be trimmed properly by Volks in the factory.

Takane's belt buckle is like that, and it's made of metal. Falls right out of the loop whenever you move her. I finally just put Makoto's belt on her.

Yeah that was my first thought when I saw the photo. If they were white she'd be putting on a totally different kind of show.

The leotard, which is made of a stocking-like material, is a separate piece - the top, and everything else, goes over it. I edited the post to make that clearer. I'm curious whether it can stain as well though. You will be able to see it in the video once I finish/post it I guess.

Oh I see, and yeah that type of material can leave tiny black speck stains. Not the sort of bodysuit I had hoped she came with.
