Another point I forgot to mention, her hair is very very long!

I usually tend to see Luka with hair down to just the top of her hip so this surprised me a bit, it looks very nice but I hope it doesn't end up a pain to maintain. The wig also feels pretty nice imo, I think some people thought it looked low-quality but it doesn't seem to be. I personally prefer Luka's hair a little more pastel candy pink than this slightly metallic pink though.

 

EDIT: I noticed the same blog post that talks about the limited preorder for VS/VIP members also confirms that her regular web release is lottery. The lottery period is 27th-28th, the results likely not too soon after that, and the lottery dolls start releasing June 9th.

So she has panties and a leotard? I kind of wish they did the same for Sailor Moon. But black don't surprise me with the colors of her outfit. But since there is a leotard, which goes over panties, it doesn't really matter the color of the panties, does it. So that is a weird choice from Volks. Maybe they had a black pantsu surplus.

 

 

I love Miku and Rin in the background, Miku's expression is priceless.

Volks product pics strike again! She's so much prettier in owner photos, man. I was surprised she had actual sculpted teeth, her sculpt is lovely and kinda gives off the ethereally beautiful feeling of a SD while still feeling like Luka and fitting the style of the other Vocaloid DDs. Congrats on yours Torino, she looks really sweet and special.

Her panties are black! I've never heard of a DD having black panties, and I'm not altogether sure this is the best idea. :/

 

First off, Luka looks lovely! Much nicer then Volks photos (surprising no one). My Santa Alter came with black panties, I have never put them on her cause they just seem like they are asking for trouble.

Luka looks very youthful in owner photos! I really like her. I think her mouth is very pretty.

 

BTW, I believe the "pipes" on her bodice are reminiscent of a trumpet's valves.

Hmm, good point. It doesn’t actually say, but hopefully? On the plus side the US is a day behind so it’s technically June 2nd.

That banner is on the front page of the US store now, showing both the dolls and Luka's Senbonzakura outfit with that notation, which I guess implies the entire After Event is clickwar on the USA store. Isn't that odd? US store has been doing lottery for all the regular clothing items at least for the last few events when those have been clickwar on Volks Japan.

That is true, June 2 in Japan, so potentially 4 days for them to announce results. That's how long Usagi took, but of course Volks could do something totally different now.

Don't ask me for help, I lost count after 25 finished DD and that was before my 20+ Obitsu 11cm/Nendoroid chibis invaded. And that does not include Saber & Ruler I've put down payments on, or Luka. Or the girl I realized I might be able to do from a floating head after the original idea dissipated and the fact that Ruler will be turned into a boy, leaving me with the body type I needed.

 

As for Luka, we have managed pinch and save every way we can and it looks like we should have what we need saved up in time, if no other surprises come up. When I was able to tell Raven this a few days ago he was literally speechless. In the beginning it had seemed like such an impossible situation that he had given up hope. I'm just stubborn and don't like to give up, especially when it has to do with his happiness.

 

Now I just hope that things remain predictable because I still miss Rin, the only other Vocaloid DD we don't have. If life is really, really nice to me I might be able to have her by the end of the year, but often even for me that feels like I'm just asking for problems if I allow myself to hope. So much can happen in all those months. But at least I can be delighted that I found a way for Raven to have his Luka.

That's great news, SK! She really is worth the effort!

Just as I suspected, the candy pop dress was made for her.

 

Her eyes are a little darker blue than that IRL - I just put a filter on these cos they looked really dark due to the poor lighting. Soon I might get the glue out of her head so I can move her eyes a bit to make her look a little more expressive.

 

Something else I noticed about her that I forgot to report. I dont know if this is just my Luka or not, but she's noticeably softer/squishier than other DDs. I squeezed her boobs by accident while getting her clothes on and was surprised how much they squished compared to Bri's despite being the same size. Its not just her boobs though, her arms and legs too. When other people get their Luka's I'd be curious to know if they are all like this. I went around squeezing everyone else and she is definitely the softest. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but I mostly plan to have her in lighter colours anyway whether theres an increase in stain risk or not.

Ahhh Luka looks so lovely in the Candy Pop dress, Torino! Pink hair is always perfect with that outfit. I wasn’t sure if I liked her slightly open mouth before, but now I really like how varied her expressions can be depending on the camera angle. I hope she’ll be easily available like the other Vocaloid DDs have been. I may want to get her later since I cannot do so right now..

 

It’s interesting that Luka’s softer than the others! I wonder if it’s intentional. Does that affect her poseability at all? I know some Obitsus have softer(thinner?) vinyl that allows for greater range in motion, so maybe your Luka can pose a bit better than the rest too! However, I do hope that it doesn’t make it even easier to stain.

Softness of the vinyl parts doesn't seem to matter much? I only have experience with one staining disaster, but it was a fairly major one. I got some black mesh pantyhose from a Taobao shop which were lined with a beige bodysuit-style lining. I never considered the possibility they'd do the "transfer dye to hands and then to doll body" thing and didn't pay attention until it was too late. I wore nitrile gloves because I'm afraid to touch anything, and these stockings were hard to get on so I'm touching the otherwise nude doll body all over the place. Eventually I notice big blue smudge bruise-looking stains everywhere especially on the bust and torso where I've been holding the doll the most. I look at the gloves and the fingertips are stained. I was lucky in that I didn't have a head on the doll at the time.

 

I was heartbroken but started the Dream Rescue treatments and felt I was getting nowhere but after three treatments and taking a break from it stuff has continued to fade and much of it is gone now.

 

Besides those smudges I had a few smaller stains that may have been in part caused by the same thing and some appear to be where the stocking material actually touched the vinyl. Those have been harder to get rid of.

 

Anyway my point was there didn't seem to be any difference in how the parts stained, whether it was the bust or torso which are softer, or harder bits like the wrist area of the forearm and the feet. Those harder parts seemed to be the hardest to get the stains to come out of, with the feet still showing more than the rest.

 

As I only have one body (made from separate pieces so likely different age parts) with an extra bust, I don't have anything to compare stuff to, but the newer bust I got from Volks Japan a month or two ago and it is really soft too but I don't have anything to compare to.

It just seems like the newer dolls are just much softer than the older ones. For example, Kirito, and the new DDS body that I had gotten last year are leagues softer than len, so I'm thinking it's just a design choice from Volks.

Her face is like a more mature version of Miku.
