Nope. From the Volks USA email: Available Dates June 1st - June 10th @ 6:00PM (Pacific Time) Items will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Please keep in mind that this release may end early depending on stock.

 

I was referring to their reference to a two month production period in conjunction with first come first served. It makes it sound like a capped number of dolls can be ordered over a 10 day period, and then the quantity actually ordered will be produced. If the cap is reached before 10 days are up orders are closed.

It looks like she is going out in two batches in June & November.

Dunno do I decipher that right, but looks like the lottery might just be for which batch you get your Luka from. since there's no mention of the loss and payment cancellation like on the SD side.

 

So everybody wins? ... some sooner, some later.... maybe.

 

(So technically a 100% up front payment preorder, in the case you wind up in the november batch)

I thought the November batch was just the limited preorder for VS/VIP members (as thats when those are shipping out too) but that makes it look like there's two batches for lottery alone?? That's interesting. I guess they really are planning on a huge amount.]

EDIT- Could also be because doing that limited preorder means they have to ramp up production by a whole lot, and so are dividing the lottery results into two batches to give them more time to make every Luka needed (as opposed to doubling the amount of winners)

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking might be the case. They may just be adjusting shipment to account for the number of dolls being distributed through other methods.

 

I can live with waiting till November myself. She would be paid for now, and with the Saberface pre-orders it would mean I'd get a doll a month for three months. Oh Noes!

When you look at the diagram it does almost seem like the lottery is to determine June or November. I read the text more carefully, and if you are November the payment processing will be in November.

 

This really maybe reading too much into the diagram. The standard fine print still says not every entry will result in a purchasable item. Still, if this is what they are doing I would not complain if that became the standard for lotteries. I'm sure there would still be resales, but it would seriously undercut the scalpers.

I don't know, it says "Customers and their shipping time will be selected by lotteries after the application." which implies to me that it's still a lottery for who wins as well.

 

Either way, I would expect with multiple batches that there will be a high percentage of winners as there have been with other recent dolls like Sailor Moon.

The Volks USA page says the dolls will be sent out sequentially starting from early August, so I guess that is between the two lottery doll shipments.

 

The whole thing seems different than anything they've done before, that I'm aware of.

I'm still reading that as payment being processed when the lottery win is confirmed.

Yeah, you are probably right. I was looking at the split images and seeing them as separate events, but they are both under the same date at the top of the chart.

The info is different for the japanese and english pages. The japanese page says its only the VS/VIP members who get a guaranteed 'preorder' of her (and its which batch they're in, june or november, that is decided by lottery) while everyone else (in Japan) gets a regular lottery that ships in June. Meanwhile the english page implies that EVERYONE who enters gets her, with the batch they're in decided by lottery. It's...really weird to me, and makes me wonder what the point in a limited VS/VIP order was in the first place, but it makes it seem like everyone can have her no matter what whether in Japan or out (although if you arent a VS/VIP member you just have to pay the 1000 yen to become one).

UNLESS they're still having a set limit of how many people can actually enter, so I'm very curious how it will all play out. I am also curious if any future release will be like this but I kinda doubt it, because Vocaloids.

 

There's not much longer till it starts so maybe itd be best to treat it as a clickwar just in case????

 

For those still on the fence, I made a New Arrivals thread with an unboxing video which may or may not help you come to decision. (I personally think seeing how a doll looks in a video gives me a better idea of how they look IRL than in photos...but I'm also not the best at videos)

Thanks for this; seeing dolls and figures in videos I do find to give a better feeling for how they look in threee dimensions. I think it's the camera movements, even the unintentional ones, that help.

I think she looks a bit less like Miku, and a bit more like her own character in your photos.

The Vocaloids seem to have more generous licensing terms, so I am not sure I would count on this (whatever this turns out to actually be) being the norm going forward. It would be great if it was though.

The trick question here is though, that if this is indeed a situation where everybody who has the money in the next few days gets a doll, and the lottery is only for who gets one early.. is this going to be a new norm in terms of pre-orders.

 

I mean so far they've tightened the international lottery so every entry is backed up with some kind of money commitment, and pre-orders through the international side all now have a deposit tagged.

 

now with luka its a 100% deposit, with a six month delivery time if you (most probably) end up in the november group.

 

Then again this arrangement could probably be just a favor for Vocaloid fans, because there are quite a few of them. But cant blame them for playing safe since the rin/ren fiasco that caused all the buttoning up of the payment side since.

I actually wouldnt mind a *new* system where everyone gets a DD, lottery just determines when you get it. But that's just me :/
