MAGICAL MIRAI 2017 --DD Luka is Coming!!!!

I did a mock-up of ordering her, just to see how much it would be. I simply don't/can't purchase any doll stuff for the foreseeable future, but damn, she is beautiful, especially after seeing Torino's video (thanks!). Hopefully she'll get multiple re-releases and I can pick her up one day.

 

It will be very interesting to see how this lottery works out. I would love it if Volks does it this way for now on.

as others have said I wouldnt hold your breath on this being the new 'lottery' method, especially when it isnt affecting the SDs. All the Vocaloids have been released in large quantities, they just keep finding new ways to do it. I think this way works well because only people who want her are getting her, and I doubt many people are doing it for the purpose of reselling - unlike limited Dolpa releases. For example, Rin and Len caused so much trouble because the Nagoya limited preorder meant that people could resell the guaranteed nagoya preorders to prey on peoples insecurity about the lottery - heaps of people ended up panic-buying the scalpers ones because they didnt want to risk losing the lottery. Perhaps to counteract that, or just to produce even more, Volks did a particularly high win-rate for them...which unfortunately then resulted in a lot of flaking after even more scalpers suddenly realized they werent going to make a profit lol. With Luka's method, because ANYONE can get this guaranteed order for her, the scalpers cant really pretend theirs is special and there is less panic-buying (although that didnt stop several appearing on yahoo auctions for obscene amounts literally an hour after Dolpa finished)

 

It seems more and more to me like Volks treat the vocaloids as something like the 'flagship' collab DDs. I would hazard a guess that Miku in particular is the biggest gateway drug to DDs - there are probably plenty of people on this forum alone who became interested in them after seeing her. (They also use her to get even more people interested in DDs, such as having the ones that you could touch and play with at Magical Mirai last year).

 

That is, at least, what I think. We'll find out the August lottery dolls are announced and what the method is.

Yeah, we will have to see exactly how this works too. The idea of a Volks lottery where no one loses has me looking around for evil Kirk & evil Spock.

The outfit must have gone fairly quickly, and perhaps was what caused the website to be non-responsive. As mentioned elsewhere, I took a while to decide on buying Sheryl so I refreshed her page a number of times over several hours. That section at the bottom that lists the other stuff in the current event showed that outfit as gone the first time I actually noticed it, and for the first half hour or so of this part of the event, the website barely worked for me. Given that outfit and the Macross stuff was all that was newly available at that time and how the Macross stuff wasn't selling out, Luka's outfit was probably the culprit.

Yeah I grabbed mine in the first few seconds, and then checked back about 15 minutes later to see if the Macross stuff was still up, and it the outfit was already on Will be Restocked at that time. I didn't check again until morning when it was listed sold out.

But I forgot all about this this weekend. I had noted the Volks USA lottery for last Dolpa's outfits but forgot about the Int sale. Here's hoping I can get Luka's extra outfit next weekend at USA (I want it as a maid outfit.). I'll have to check the Int store to see what is left Monday morning.

I agree however that it seems Volks arrangement with the good Vocaloid folks is distinctly different that most licensors. And that's typical of Crypton.

 

I don't have a problem with the new lotto if they keep using this particular method for high-production run popular dolls. I honestly think they should have done this with Sailormoon if possible.

I got my email letting me know that I won and that Luka is coming home to me!

 

In the email it states your shipping date - unfortunately mine is November, but at least I know she will be coming home to me.

She is also in the November batch but I'm so glad we don't have to hunt her down another way. I had to wake him up out of a dead sleep but at least he knows. He has tomorrow off so he can let it soak in and enjoy the fact that we don't have to worry about if he will get her or not. All I can say is determination pays off and it's why I don't give up if I don't have to.

November here too. Wish they would collect money only when they're close to shipping though.

 

Got USA miku expo concerts next month and then in Europe in December to spend money on.

Given the confusion on how this lottery actually worked, I think it would be useful information if anyone doesn't win to post here.

Apparently everyone who commented on MFC got November too? I guess landing the first batch had an extremely low win rate, or it was mostly people from the 'actual' lottery it was possible to lose that was Japan-only, since all those people only get the dolls in June. Although I'm curious how many people actually entered that lottery seeing as there was the option to do the VS/VIP preorder, which most Japanese Volks fans already are (and if you arent its only 1000 yen a year). Maybe just people who were happy to leave it to chance?

 

EDIT: I believe Riko on DD discord asked Volks directly and they confirmed the international lottery was only for release slots and that everyone who entered was getting her regardless, so there shouldnt be any 'losers' here. (unless you count november as losing, but hey, easy early christmas present to yourself)

I'm interested how the USA sale goes, the wording implied it was a clickwar but I'm still not sure, but if so many people got her through International due to the guarantee then maybe there wont be too much competition?

I'm so used to Kaito being brutally shafted (and Meiko even more so...) that I am honestly not expecting him to get the same treatment as the others in terms of availability :c :c Those two are kind of wild cards though. I'll honestly be happy enough if they make Kaito at all even if he does end up far more limited. Given the track record of male dolls being released alongside female dolls, it makes sense that they'd do him and Meiko together, but given the wait between each announcement so far I'm not expecting to hear about him until Magical Mirai 2019 if they're going to do it at all. Which I'm fine with. Please let my wallet rest.

Congrats to all. As for the USA sale, yes, it's a first come first served until she's gone. They've done it several times with things like limited hands. They know they are getting XX many and people can order it until they are all accounted for. I need to remember to look tomorrow as I want her extra outfit, but not her.
