BeyondTime Posted June 1, 2018 Gratz to those who got her. They really should probably do all dolls and their special outfits as lottery in the future. I am glad VolksUSA moved their stock though. I was wondering just how the international lottery's unusual terms would impact their ability to sell the Luka's they were allocated. Not happy people had issues, but I that doesn't change my desire to see VolksUSA to keep thriving and offering event dolls. Still their lottery system is so much better, so I can't fathom why they decided on a clickwar for a Vocaloid. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
ajl Posted June 1, 2018 Wow. I had no idea that there would be such an issue with buying the senbonzakura outfit! I'm on mobile at a convention and I managed to get it with just relative slowness on my end. No real issues other than that. I'm sorry that everyone else had such a problem. I hate that cart doesn't secure! Stores like that are so stressful to buy limiteds from.
Mimiyo3 Posted June 1, 2018 So, some weird stuff happened to me that I feel I should mention. So, I fat fingered the payment info the first time I tried checkout which got it declined and my cart dumped. This happened at around 11:15. It keeps switching between 2 shipping options and it gives me the cheaper one. This is important. Go to 11:30, There's more of her in, I get her in my cart and check out with paypal this time to avoid whatever crap happened with the card. It goes through, all seems well. It gave me the more expensive one and with the constant swapping I wasn't about to fight it anymore. I can eat 30 extra dollars. It goes through, I take a look and see there's an order from today, I don't look at the details closely on the order page at first. It says processed, so I don't think much of it. A bit later I get an email saying my payment was declined. I take a look at the order number and see that it matches. There aren't any words I can use here that won't get censored. I email support as soon as I can asking what the hell is going on, worrying I won't actually get my Luka. I then take a look at the details of the order and they match up to the declined one. I get REALLY freaked out because there's no sign of my later order on the site. It's like it never even happened. But I check paypal and it clearly says it went through there. At this point I have no idea wtf is going on. Did paypal eat my money? Did volks just void the whole thing cause the first time went wrong? Will I actually get her or will volks just say "lol sorry here's a refund"? I still haven't heard back from customer service, but I just recently saw the price and time of order on that order change to the one I did through paypal. However I still haven't gotten their automatic confirmation message saying that I actually bought her. So, it looks like it might be okay? But I'm not gonna hold my breath or assume any positives until I get confirmation from volks about what the hell is going on. Volks, if you read this, SERIOUSLY. Put some money into stabilizing the checkout system for your website. You're a business that sells pricy luxury items. I don't care how much you want to shaft the US market and put as little effort towards us as possible. This is not excusable. If some freelance person making and selling homemade stuff can have a decent quality website you can too. If you're not willing to put the bare minimum effort and resources into keeping your site stable under the heavy traffic of these clickwars then STOP. DOING. THEM. Either fix your garbo site or at least stop treating it like it can tank anything you throw at it because it CAN'T. I just want to know if I get my Luka or not... I love her so much and if volks just brushes me off I'm gonna be so pissed. Present! BeyondTime Posted June 2, 2018 Having met the folks at Volks USA I don't think they are out to screw the US market. They are nice people. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? SisterKyoya Posted June 2, 2018 Nice or not, that wasn't the judgement. Knowing when your website (a good portion of their business) cannot stand the load that you throw at them for events and watch it crumple or spaz out... that is just being shortsighted. It also reflects on the company, making the USA site kinda feel like a circus and not in fun ways. It is not a personal judgement for the people running it. It should be part of their job to be aware of what parts of their business is broken or ill functioning and fix it. Especially since this should not be an issue if the person who designed/runs the website is current on their knowledge on how to be an effective webmaster. Online businesses without dedicated in-house IT infrastructure should really just stick with AWS, Azure, or some other cloud provider with auto scaling. This is so last-decade. This is exactly what I was trying to think about how to say in an earlier conversation I had with Mimyo. I don't know all the techy details, but even FreeSpeach.net talks about scaling the flow to your site if you have sudden bursts of activity, expected or not, so your site isn't crippled or taken down entirely. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
BeyondTime Posted June 2, 2018 Nice or not, that wasn't the judgement. I don't care how much you want to shaft the US market and put as little effort towards us as possible. Actually, yes it was. I get being frustrated over this, but it's not fair to say people are behaving in an unethical way because of website has a load issue. That's not who these folks are. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
SisterKyoya Posted June 2, 2018 Not once did I say it was unethical. Unprofessional, yes, especially since as Mimiyo pointed out that they sell expensive luxury goods. But not once did I say unethical. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

SisterKyoya Posted June 2, 2018 If you didn't directly say it, it was certainly implied. And a judgement about a business is not a judgement for the employees except for the fact that they would benefit from more training or further study to do their job more effectively. That has nothing to do if they are nice people or not. Nice people needing training that the main company does not see as needed does not make them mean people. After all these years of clickwars and regularly hearing complaints that the website had one issue or another it just makes sense to me that it would be enough time to sort out the bugs. Buggy websites do not mean not nice people. It just really bothers me hearing about the disappointment that people on the forums deal with due to these glitches in how the site functions. I know I have not been around the forums a lot the last year or so, but I do still consider people here to be my friends so when they hurt, I hurt too. This is the very same reason why I'm so very happy when things go well, or very well, especially for the new members or those who struggle hard to get things special to them, like Luka. In the same way I hope someone out there can be happy when Raven and I are able to do the same when we have to pinch and scrape to have the same happiness at a new girl. I love this hobby, and especially this forum because of how happy this hobby generally is. And with it seeming like life is getting bombarded with increasing amounts of hate, I really value how much happiness is here. Yeah, I get frustrated a Volks. That's nothing new. It was never intended to come across as anger, it is just my frustration. I don't know what to say to not have my text interpreted as an angry tirade. I use a lot of words out of habit because I was constantly misunderstood most of my life when I was a lot more concise. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
BeyondTime Posted June 2, 2018 If you didn't directly say it, it was certainly implied. No it wasn't. The comment had nothing to do with you beyond me clarifying for you what I had responded to earlier when I said they were nice people, and why I felt I had to say it. I get frustrated with the way this stuff works at times as well. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? sinclair Posted June 2, 2018 I got a reply back from Volks about this morning basically saying what a couple of others have said here, it's first to checkout, not first to cart. Wish I had known that before. It took me 10 min to get even the outfit in my cart. So I waited until 11:30 to checkout thinking that the traffic would have died down some so that I wouldn't get any issues doing payment. And that killed me as it meant others got the outfit and I didn't. That means if they had 10 items, more then 10 could add it to their cart, but only the first 10 able to get through the complete checkout process without it choking get the item. That relies too heavily on luck. Why would the USA site be run differently then the international site? Sigh, guess it's a good thing I have more then one hobby. SakuraSylph Posted June 2, 2018 Hey folks, don't forget that this is all Vocaloid we're talking about. However much USA had or didn't have on one particular day, there's more where that came from. A lot more. So, if you missed out for now due to the USA website, it's just for now and there will be another chance. In fact, Volks just announced a Miku Expo collaboration for July, so that next chance could even be right around the corner. It's all good. BeyondTime Posted June 4, 2018 Well my Senbonzakura set arrived, but now I have to decide if I set it aside till November to save it for Luka, or try it out on Takane or Miki. It sort of feels like if I don't save it I am stealing something from Luka. XD The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? teensybits Posted June 4, 2018 I hate the Volks USA site during clickwars - especially since they advertised it as able to save things in your cart when they first relaunched the site a few years ago (they have since recanted this claim). I didn't take place in this particular clickwar but I've been in others and it's nerve-wracking and endlessly frustrating. At this point I just consider the 'first to check out' bit as a super fast result lottery since it's pretty much luck as to whether the site or cart will crash or not. I've spoken to Volks USA about it in person a few times (at Dolpa etc) and they acknowledged the issue in that polite but noncommittal way, so I don't see anything changing in the future. Lore Posted June 5, 2018 I was fortunate enough to get Luka off the Volks USA site (at least I did get a confirmation email from them anyway) so I'm relieved I hadn't had the problems others have. I'm still holding my breath until Volks sends me the shipping email though. By the time my husband registered his own account Luka was gone within 30 mins of me trying to check out. I don't think SnowMiku went that fast! I missed the date Volks might send out the USA Luka orders did anyone catch that? I'm going to assume it won't be until late this year.
