MAGICAL MIRAI 2017 --DD Luka is Coming!!!!

I don't really know enough about Luka's character to argue, I was under the impression she was the older more mature looking vocaloid. If people who like her are happy then I'm glad, a lot seem to be so that's a good thing.

So what's the artwork they're basing her off of I guess? I'm looking at pics and her face is somewhat slimmer than Miku's which I guess is what I expected. I suppose the more defined chin is how they're portraying that?

This KEI art is, as far as I know, unique to Volks and seems to be what she's based on:

Of course they aren't basing her on V4X as the outfit is different as well, but just showing that for reference, and the fact that a sculpt like Takane would be very close for that.

 

What is common to all three pictures though is that she has a full face with a very non-pointy chin, so that they chose to do her chin like that is an odd choice period in my view.

 

KEI's art has certainly evolved over time, you can see it with Miku from the software's original art to what was done for the various Project DIVA game covers. That said, the Volks Luka art doesn't really match that style. Some pages ago in this thread when that was first posted I said that art looked to me like Volks said "Draw us art of what a Luka DD would look like based on how we made Miku" and probably that's just my crazy mind working but I still feel that way about that picture.

 

Can't wait to see owner pictures of her, though, I am very impressed for some reason that she'd be coming with the entire mic stand considering long poles like that are commonly fragile.

 

I don't see the entire pole in the image, but in the past the Volks mic stands have been segmented with pole in two parts, the base and the mic all as separate pieces. That doesn't mean they will do it that way this time of course.

Having seen the pictures cfx posted above I think I get her face now. I would say wait for display photos to decide how pointy the chin really is. This wouldn't be the first time Volks photos made a chin look pointier than it really was. Iirc Anya's chin seemed much sharper in the original photos too.

 

As far as the body goes if you don't like DDIII L you can swap her to a DDDy. I'm sure someone here will be willing to try her outfit on one to check fit. Mine (If I win her) will be getting an M bust to replace the L bust. Volks L is just way too big to fit the images or the PVC figures I have of Luka.

I confirm that with a repaint, the sculpt is very nice. I would really like to adopt her.

In this case flat means no headlights. Sheryl Nome has the same, and I believe Alisa does with the one-piece torso.

I think it's still lottery. The description on the page for her is nearly identical to what is on Sailor Moon's page, and she was lottery. Luka's page has a tab at the top for English which isn't yet clickable but once that's up it should be more clear.

Well, Luka is the one that actually needs the bra, so it can make sense.

Even then with a bra they show too much for my taste. So my one L busted girl got the flat L bust, and we're both happier for it. The L bust ones stick out way more then any of the smaller busts. But I'll admit I'm a pantsu guy, not an oppai guy.

I think she looks like Luka. They all look similar, but not enough for me to say they look like each other.

I think I need to clarify what I wrote because now I realize it is ambiguous. I meant DD Len looks a lot like DD Miku, not referring to the actual characters. DD Miku, Len, and to a lesser extent Luka all have the somehwat narrower (vertically) eyes that angle a bit, somewhat like DD Miki Hoshii (which is part of my complaint since I don't really see that in any of the art for the Vocaloids). DD Rin OTOH has very round eyes (and in my opinion looks more like Miku the character than DD Miku does; I think they could've gone with a face like Rin but a little older looking for Miku or Miku as she is but with Rin's eye shape and size).

Hopefully she looks better in person, I'm not feeling her mouth whatsoever. I do like her wig though.

As was pointed out earlier we should probably wait for the English translation. I kind of think there will be a lottery, and it just isn't clear from google translate.

 

In the US you can enter the lottery twice, once in the international website, and once through Volks USA. If you win both you have to buy both, but if we are lucky and Volks USA does get to offer her, then maybe it will be like Usagi with lottery entries opening up well after the Japan results are out.
