new Cocoa skin

new Cocoa skin tone on the way !

She most certainly looks like chocolate. Not my thing, but I'm glad there's an option coming for those that would like it.

Well, I admit to being curious about how well a face-up will show up on something that dark. I hope it works well, and if it does, and Danny was to release a boy in that shade, I will be very interested.

I think I prefer the original look a bit more, though it is tough to say without seeing the girl complete. I would still prefer if Danny would add it as new option rather than replacing the previous version.

Danny said that this new color was definitely going to replace the older cocoa version within 2-3 months. So if you're like me and prefer the older skin tone, you'd better start saving up now for a Moonlight or whoever else you want in the old color before they're gone. I'm going to have to step up and start doing ovetime again in order to get my Moonlight....

 

And I agree with everyone on the point of Danny keeping the old color as well as the new one for options. But I also understand why he'd drop the old one..... obviously to keep more money available and not take up stockroom space with the older version. He DID say he'd keep a stash of the older color for replacement and warranty issues but it won't be available for purchase.

 

Dammit Danny, quit making me have to spend MORE money faster than I can make it!

I actually really like the new color It's rich and not purple-ish, like the older cocoa. Face-up wise, I know resin dolls with such color have no problems other than that light pastels won't show as easily, I don't think it'll be much different for vinyl, but I suppose we'll find out!

I have harmony and was thinking of getting moonlight but now I will wait and get moonlight in the new skin tone , Danny said Harmony and Moonlight will be the 1st ones to be released in the new Cocoa skin tone once the old ones are sold off !

I like both skin tones. While I have sought out dolls with the 'purple' effect in dark skin tones, it does not look natural, more 'artsy'. It goes along better with the other two skin tones Danny uses because they all look natural now. If you hold up the current Harmony next to a person who has dark skin, the color looks off. This true chocolate color will look really nice. It might even invite more people into the vinyl doll hobby that like the realistic darker skin tones. I think Moonlight looks perfect with the current color because of her grey wig and purple eyes. But Harmony will really come into her own with the new skin tone. I may try to get Moonlight in the next few months, but I doubt it will happen. Either way, I am excited for this new color.

I was saving up for a Moonlight too, but I sucbleepbed to an Asuna. I thought I could take my time to get Moonlight, but I only want her in the old cocoa skintone!

Oh, I like it. Much more natural than the old cocoa, which looked powdery and faded. I can't wait to see Harmony in this shade!

Well I'm in the same boat but luckily, a good friend is going to Japan at the end of this month and he's agreed to pick me up the older skin tone Moonlight as an unassembled kit! So I get to save money on her and get the skin tone I wanted! The only bad part is that I have to come up with the money needed BEFORE the end of this month. That's not gonna be easy. But I *will* have my Moonlight!

I absolutely love this new skin tone! It actually looks like a real skin tone a person would have. The other ones was very purple and a bit washed out so, good for like, a dark elf or something but it was marketed as a natural skin tone which always made me roll my eyes. I really want to see guys coming out in this tone! It's perfect for Markus and I'm just over the moon that I won't have to dye him. (At least, not his whole body. I want a different sculpt than either of the Eiji's have had.)

I'm in love with the new cocoa too. As Mimiyo3 above me said (and I'd never actually thought of this before I read your comment), it totally does look like a dark elf. It also makes me wonder if Danny will ever make limited fantasy skins and whatnot at some point.

 

I'm half upset because I won't be able to save up for an old cocoa doll before the new ones are released ;_; I'm hoping some people will sell their old cocoa dolls because they want to trade in for a new ones or something xD Ah, wishful thinking~

I really like this skin tone better than the old one. Actually, it's perfect for one of my OCs...

 

I do wish both cocoa skin tones were available instead of Danny getting rid of one. I don't see why he can't have two different shade of cocoa, but I don't really see a cocoa doll in my plans at all in the future, so I suppose what Danny decides to do with the skin tone doesn't matter for me.

This skin tone is GORGEOUS! Definitely approve of it.

I love the new skintone, but it clashes horribly with the old one. So it's going to look odd photographing old and new together, I fear.

Now that's more like what I was expecting out of a 'cocoa' skin tone! I don't even know if I'll ever be able to doll-ify her, but at least now I won't have to go through a dye project in case I have the opportunity to make my OC girl Lottie.

I have no character in mind for her yet, but I really love her sculpt in her current skintone. The new cocoa is a really melty chocolatey shade but it just doesn't look as striking to me as the current one. Now I just need to convince myself that I don't need ALL the option hand parts in the current cocoa skin as well

Hee hee, you definitely should get her if you can! I'm the same.... I saw her in person in the store back in March this year and I absolutely loved her look. So now that I have the chance to save a little money on her by having my friend get the workshop kit, I'm going for her.

Oh no doubt! I think I'll have to get at least one set of hands for her as well as a blushed large bust. It won't be cheap but the money I save from doing the kit will make up for it.

I really love the new chocolate color. It looks edible. Of course I just got Moonlight (the minute she was available). Dang. I prefer the new color. But I'll likely keep my girl in the old color anyway.

I personally like this more. If I wanted a fantasy character then the older skin was a much better option, but this looks far more natural.

 

I look forward to seeing this around whenever it is available/people have it in hand.

So... It just occurred to me... would this new colour be called 'Cocoa-Kai'? It's a bit of a tongue-twister...

Just saw the new pics of the new cocoa skin posted on twitter. it's kinda grey. Could be lighting, I guess, because the first few photos released look promising. The face-up on it is kind of an awkward grey, too. I think that it could've used more work. Looks like the same faceup on the normal skin girls transplanted onto a way darker girl. To be fair, I bet it would look super cool if someone gave the doll a lighter face-up (like fantasy colors).
