new Cocoa skin

 

I need her and I am not even kidding. The cocoa color is gorgeous. ♡u♡ It seriously tops like 99% of tan resin dolls in terms of color quality. SO PRETTY. Even if I might change it, the wig itself is also gorgeous. And she comes with CHERRY EYES. AHHH. Apparently her name will be either Scarlet or Ruby. Her face-up is so cuuuuute. GOSH.

 

Also, on another note, does anyone have any ideas as to how this darker vinyl might stain? I wonder if it'd be less likely to stain, since it's darker.

It is going to stain in the same way and at the same rate as other vinyls, however the darker skin color will initially hide lighter stains, so you may not notice a stain till it has darkened considerably. For this reason the darker skin tone will require more care and monitoring.

I noticed on Harmony's page that there is mention of scratches being more visible on the dark vinyl. She comes with a melamine sponge to repair scratches that may occur from handling. No special notes about stains, though.

 

I'm definitely curious to see how the darker vinyl color ages since that's where resin runs into a lot of issues.

Cherry is getting a wide release though, so she's going to be one of the new characters in the upcoming months.

 

Danny did confirm that Scarlet/Ruby will be released after Infinity, but we don't know where Infinity falls yet, so that could be sooner or later, lol. He did recently report that Infinity's wig is going though it's upteenth prototype phase, so I'm assuming she'll be June/July at the earliest, which would then make Scarlet/Ruby July/August/September? But, as we saw with Harmony's delay, anything can happen between now and her release, so who really knows? LOL!

 

No matter what, you definitely have some time to save up the dough for her. I can't wait to add Scarlet/Ruby to my collection. She's PERFECTION!

Resin is a lot trickier in terms of dark colors due to the process and the fact that in general it is less stable. I think the vinyl should be fine and maintain the initial color better. Stains probably wouldn't show up as much but I would still take the same precautions.

What I don't know and have wondered about- if you do get a stain on a tea or cocoa doll, and use either Oxy10 or Remove-Zit- will it bleach the skin as well as removing the stain? I would worry about that.

I like her wig too! The only problem is my Ebony already has a wig in the same colour, so one of them is going to have to surrender and change their hair

Ah yeah, I know how that feels... a lot of my dolls ended up with purple eyes, because of characters and such, and I was like "okay, one of you needs to change, you can't all have purple eyes come on"... we need more colors in the color spectrum!!

 

also, can I just complain because there are no more pictures or anything related to Summer's release since she got delayed from August to "first quarter of 2018", and he keeps making all these new girls and hyping those way more?

Just pulled the trigger on Harmony, and got notice she's already shipped..

Danny has confirmed that he will be releasing more Cocoa girls (most likely referring to Ruby) and a guy once he gets the Afro wig right!!

 

I'm so excited for the fro wig. Afrocentric hair types are definitely under represented in this hobby. Plus there will be a new guy. Heaven knows there hasn't been a new one for a looooong time.

I actually stayed up all night watching the store in vain. I never saw her up there and I have feeling Danny might actually just sell them in store only since it's 10. RIP my already mediocre health.

 

I commented about Moonlight on Insta, but I think my comment got deleted? That or in my sleep-deprived stupor I forgot to hit the post button lol. It's pretty annoying that sometimes Danny makes an announcement and then there's no word on it. I get why things might need to be postponed/discontinued, but jeez I think he should at least let us know formally. (That way I don't stay up all night or something...)

This surprise super-limited release of only 10 dolls is really disappointing. Even Volks isn't this capricious. For collectors this must be really distressing! I expect we'll get a proper release someday, but I'm not setting aside funds for a Smartdoll anymore.

Oh no, I'm not in the FB group...darn I should have joined it if I knew they made announcements better than Danny. @_@ I wouldn't have thought she'd be in the low stock section so I looked at her original sale page at times or discontinued. Man, this is so much worse than Volks' lottery and/or click wars. At least we're given the time in advance and more stock.

Yes, that model certainly isn't sustainable. I don't really see a point in having so many faceups for the Mirai sculpt that don't even look that different from each other. Artists can make really unique appearances for the same sculpt, but that clearly isn't the case for SmDs like Kizuna and Julia.

 

First world problem, but I'm pretty bummed out I didn't pick up either version of Moonlight. I should have settled on old cocoa. >_> Harmony in the new cocoa is cute, but she's just not as pretty as Moonlight imo. I don't love Ruby's sculpt as much either. K I'm done whining, just needed to express my disappointment somewhere. v_v

I think your disappointment is justified.
