FGO X Dollfie Dream : Jeanne d'arc and Saber

Recommended Posts

BeyondTime

So some good news for people worried about managing the cost of both dolls. Volks has updated the pre-order site with a project timeline. One of the things they mention is that Jeanne will ship 1 - 2 months after Saber. They stipulate you won't have to pay for both in one payment. This doesn't preclude multiple shipping groups if they get a lot of orders.

Pre-orders will also be available through Volks USA, but that bit has been up for awhile.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Am I correct in thinking the pre order payment will not be taken until they are ready to ship them? or do they take payment at the moment you pre order?

On the order form that came with Volks News you have the choice of paying a 10,000 yen down payment or the full price of the doll in advance. I don't know if this is only for Japanese domestic orders or not.

I saw that Volks USA put up their listing for them. $200 down payment, or pay in full. Total price of $1090 unless you are in CA.

Now that I'm not a resident of CA I may actually do my pre-order through USA. o3o

Raven just noticed that the preorders through Volks International now require a down payment as stated here. Then it says that only credit cards will be accepted, not paypal. The thing that ticks me off is they don't say on the page how much the deposit will be. Hard to plan for a "something" before Christmas Volks.

I believe they said ¥10,000 somewhere, but I've only seen in mentioned here and I don't recall the original source.

Volks really cracking down on scalpers and last-minute cancellations here....

I'm actually ok with this, my only concern is what will the exchange rate look like in 12months....

I'm fine with this in principle, just would have appreciate a bit more warning that this was changed from previous pre orders, and it would be much nicer if they state how much the payment would be on the page.

But that is the warning...?^^'

I saw it on the order sheet that came with Volks News and not the site itself (although admittedly I haven't looked), it's weird that it wasn't on the page. I can't confirm that international will be the same as domestic at this point - I'm sure they get the most flaking from online orders so I wouldn't be too surprised if they raised it but I hope not. The preorder hasn't even started yet, though.

But...I seriously thought it had always been this way??? I've never done a preorder but if they seriously are only now requiring down payments of 10% of the doll (which seems incredibly reasonable to me) I'm really surprised. A lengthy preorder period for such an expensive item you don't have to pay anything for upfront is honestly just asking for a bunch of impulse preorders and 'eh changed my mind's a year later. I would have expected this kind of policy from the beginning.

For those worried about the credit card and not PayPal thing I've been able to use my debit card in the credit card field of any Japanese site including Volks just fine since I got it. It -is- with a Japanese bank so I don't know if that changes anything - if anyone who also only has a debit card and not a credit card can confirm that'd be great.

You need to keep in mind that the pre-order program started out as a japan only thing and slowly has snowballed from there.

The Miku pre-order was probably their biggest ever, but they've managed to offload everything cancelled items included from that pretty nicely, but I guess now they've awakened to the concept of people not being too scared of their banned for life from the webstore, with the Rin/Ren debacle which has even left the dolls without a limited edition status at the webstore at the moment...

Also since it is blue saber for anybody, they probably are expecting an unusual ammount of preorders, and both dolls have quite a bit of plastic parts to produce, so they could be preparing for that cost also.

But the world changes .. personally Im not too upset about the down payment since it means the doll is paid partially already and only the brunt of it left next year...

That's "great" for people who don't even have a credit card. (Just like me) I'm glad I don't want to order these two girls but I'd be super upset if I would.

Like I said debit should work but I'd like someone outside Japan to confirm if they've used a debit card on any other 'credit card only' volks purchases, as debit works for me, but its a JCB debit card and i'm not sure if that affects it.

I'm just glad Volks isn't like the other bjd(or 'big doll' if DDs dont count as BJDs) companies that requires the payment in full for a preorder no matter how long the wait time may be(although, it's understandable for those - most of them are much tinier companies/single artists and can't really afford to make dolls for people who could suddenly decide to opt out).

Since they've stated that the deposits are not refundable regardless of reasons, I think it is safe to assume that they are going to charge the deposit to the credit card instead of just submitting an order via paypal, since you can still flake out on your order by making sure your paypal doesn't have enough funds or there is no card linked.

(Like when I preorder from Goodsmile they send a notice of an order submitted like this:

"Thanks for using PayPal. Please note that this is not a charge. Your account will be charged when the merchant processes your payment. You may receive multiple emails as the merchant processes your order.

Your funds will be transferred when the merchant processes your payment. Any money in your PayPal account at that time will be used before any other payment source.")

So I think a debit card should work as well if Volks is just going to charge the deposit when you place your order. And I don't know if this helps; some years ago during the YoSD Lorina lottery, I won a Lorina but was unable to pay via paypal, and after some emailing back and forth, Volks requested that I use a credit card instead. I was able to use my debit card without problem.

I've always only used my debit card at Volks International and never had any issues. I've also used it multiple times on other sites that claimed "credit, not debit." Might be my bank's policy, but I don't see why a debit card would be an issue, so long as you have the money in the account at the time.

It probably depends on what your definition of "debit card" is.

In Australia there are two types.

There are bank issued debit cards that withdraw money straight from your account when used. These cards work with ATMs and EFTPOS, but not really anything else.

Then there are Visa/Mastercard issued cards that also debit the money straight from your account, but because they're Visa/Mastercard they are still counted as a credit card even though they aren't offering you credit.

You're right! I just always called those 'atm cards'. I've had my visa debit card so long I forgot the atm card only does that!

So I guess if its a card that you can buy things online with (even itunes or whatever), it should work.

Assuming that the down payment is the same for international as it is for Japan (10,000 yen), for those who can use volksusa you get the choice between that or $200 - which means $400 if you're getting both girls, which could sting a bit. I hope this doesnt throw a spanner in anyone's plans but on the plus side the preorder period is 2 whole months so that hopefully gives you time.

as I said before if Fu kuoka gets display ones in like they did last time I'll be able to get photos again for anyone still on the fence, although not until the 12th of november because thats the next time I get the chance to go into the city. There will probably be other photos of display ones from other stores floating around before then, but the great thing about the Fu kuoka store is that they dont put them behind glass so its easier to get pics. (assuming they do what they did with Iori/Yayoi/Anastasia...which I think they will, cos there are currently life-sized cutouts of Saber and Jeanne there in the same spot)
