FGO X Dollfie Dream : Jeanne d'arc and Saber

♥ also, this sound sarcastic on paper, but I am seriously sincerely excited for everyone getting this chance to have the King of Knights of their own. hoooorah for swelling Saber armies!

Alrighty, so that's a weight off my shoulders. I've preordered my Saber so now all that's left is the wait. lol I hope I can keep distracted!

Saber has always been my holy grail dollfie dream. I got attracted into this hobby through her.

 

I had a few chances to purchase Fate Extra Ver. but I walked away a few times as I felt that they will definitely remake Saber as she's such a popular character.

 

Finally they came up with this pre-order and I can only pick one due to space constraints in my home as I already have four dolls now. I was in a dilemma, who should I pick? Saber with the original armor with crown and cape or Jeanne? In the end after deciding for a long time I decided to pick Jeanne.

 

I pre-ordered Jeanne today. I can't wait to finally have a Saber in my collection!

Ed and I both stayed up late last night and ordered our girls at the same time. As soon as midnight hit and the page showed the order button, we both went after the new girls..... I got Blue Saber and he got Joan of Arc. We're both excited about it but that one year wait is gonna suck so hard.

 

At least it gives me lots of time to set aside the funds for her.

I do the same! I have no idea why either; I suspect part of me enjoys stalking the doll every day during the order period and anticipating when I finally click the order button. I get such a kick out of it when I finally order

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, because I don't know a lot about /Apocrypha and /Grand Order but...Isn't Jeanne completely different to Saber? I thought she had a class of her own (Ruler). In terms of dollfie dreams, she's not the same sculpt as Saber either. But a lot of people here are acting like they're the same character (or calling her 'Saber face')and it's got me confused.

What if you forget, are away, get sick, have a blackout/internet outage, miscalculate timezones or something?

Yes, Jeanne is completely different from Saber and an entirely different character. I’ve been watching Fate Apocrypha (haven’t seen much FGO honestly) and it’s a very obvious difference. This has kind of confused me as well as the most certainly are not one and the same..

 

You are right though, she is her own class also. I keep thinking back to Fate Stay Night UBW, back to The episodes where Jeanne was referenced and clearly a very different character..

 

DD related, I think I am going to have to get both girls. I was worried Jeanne would look less feminine and more similar to Saber, but seeing a closer up picture of her make up has helped me like her much more.

looks like the Fu kuoka store has a Jeanne on display already but still only the cutout of Saber. Hopefully they have both by the 12th of November (which is when I'm next going into town) cos I really wanna see Saber in person...

when Caster (Gilles de Rais) first encounters Saber (as in our King Arthur saber) he thinks she is Jeanne. He is 345% convinced Saber is Jeanne d'arc, and is utterly obsessed with her. Even after being told that no, Saber here is a different person, he insists it is Jeanne who's very traumatic death just warped her memories and he will fix it/her dammit!!

I thought the injoke was that Caster thinks -everyone- is Jeanne lol. (I do own a doujinshi where he even goes after Waver under this delusion)

People may also be confused because Jeanne is considered a "Saberface" character, but I don't think she actually uses Saber's headmold. It's more just a joke that Takeuchi keeps making new characters that look like Saber. In F/GO, it's even a mechanical trait some characters (including Jeanne) have, and there was/will be a whole "Saber Wars" event themed around it.

I know Saberface is a thing, but I don't get why people act like it only applies to some characters when tbh given his art style you could say the same about Rin as well (and hell even Waver).

I thought there was something deeper to it lol. Anyway I'm surprised Jeanne looks so much more mature than Saber in DD form cos I never got that impression from the art.

I think those people confused by Jeanne d'Arc are like me, not hardcore fan of Type Moon (not fan at all in my case) but with some core knowledge because of anime. They saw this FGO stuff spamming the internet and know there is this very messy incarnation thing coupled with the gacha nature of the sociage, from which disgorged many Saber. So, without knowing further, yes, I thought Jeanne was one of Saber incarnation or whatever and called her another Saber. I don't mind, I like her chara-design.

They should have done her Alter version because you can differentiate them better because of her hair color... what, it's already planned for a later date, after Saber Bride? Sorry.

 

This is such a thing that FGO had an event called Saber Wars, Where Heroine X from another dimension comes to kill all the fake Saber. She is even armed with Himitsucalibur.

 

The Artorian race is like cancer to the universe. Someone has to exterminate all of them. Someone has to.

Saying so with a bitter expression on her face, Heroine X left her hometown. Even today, her beloved machine Du Stallion II races through the sea of stars.

It does. And I wondered if that was the photo set you were going for. I did see them on the one of the doll groups. I was shocked at how purple Jeanne's outfit is. In Volks News it looks to be pretty close to the same shade of blue as Saber's. Can't wait for these to get in people's hands to see lots of owner photos (And hopefully get my hands on the Saber outfit.).

it was similar with Alter ver2 - in promos her gown was just like... vague darkness something, and then you get it and it's the most amazing shade of dark plum evah!

 

Is it just my weird brain, or is anyone else wondering about Jeanne's braid maybe having a wire braided in... Unless whoever is posing dolls on display is really good at catching bits of it on something in her armor for the dramatic curve to the side

That always kind of bugged me with the default iM@S outfits. Some of them are the proper pink (Chihaya) and some of them are more of a reddish pink (Makoto, Takane.) The promos show the pink from the series even when the doll ships with something different.

I’ve been thinking wire since the first images were released.

 

So if I understand the earlier convo I will have three Sabers, but four Saberfaces when Saber & Jeanne ship?
