kinkachou Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) Does SQ Labs use any sort of trademark within or on the back of the head/headcap to denote that the product you have is genuine (e.g., DDs have the VOLKS trademark and year)? Last year, when I was not so great at identifying sculpts and not as familiar with them as I am now, I bought a doll secondhand off eBay. When she arrived, I was perturbed-- the body was definitely DD, but the head was definitely not. After some research, I found that the head that came with the body was an SQ Labs Keiko. This is a head I don't have use for, and I'd like to sell it-- but what stops me is that I can't really find any sort of trademark. The inside of the head looks like somebody took a melon baller to it, and the inside of the headcap has a large "S 4" etched into it. I have a friend who owns a legit SQ Labs head, and she says hers came the same way and that I shouldn't be worried. That's the only one she has, though, and so I figured I'd turn to you guys for help. I can definitely provide pictures if anyone wants to see-- I've just been wondering about this for a while and I've been coming up empty as far as answers go. Thanks! *EDIT* The head I have is a Keiko. I misread/mistyped-- fixed now! Edited September 28, 2017 by Guest Black lives matter.
elianti Posted September 27, 2017 It's been a long time since anyone here got an SQ head I think.. but I dont recall then having trademarks, at least with the earliest batches/releases?? I have two SQ lab heads(both bought secondhand, tho) and they both have an S followed by a number. I think one said S4 and the other S7??? I need to check again when I get home. Besides that, the headcaps don't have any magnets to keep them stuck to the head, which is apparently normal for them too. I really like a lot of the SQ lab sculpts, though they are just small enough to be noticeable if you have DDs with large heads like DDH-07. I personally think they look best on Obitsu 50cm and smaller dolls. DDP would probably look very nice with an SQ head. Kirie has such a sharp and unique look. Kumi Posted September 27, 2017 SQ Lab Kaoru Custom Head by Michael, on Flickr SQ Labs Kaoru head, from 2011. S2 inside the headcap, but Kaoru is actually SQ04 head... 100% legit, factory SQ Lab faceup and bought directly from their Yahoo!Japan auction. Maybe the caps were the same for different heads.
