ggBB Posted October 9, 2017 yesterday I was moving my obitsu 50 to the dresser and her head just came clean off (shes fine fell in the laundry lol) at first I thought this was a matter of parts being weird, but i think i might have broken her somehow, i wasn't tilting the head outside the range of motion but i do have a penchant for being rougher than i thought? everything ive found about the neck piece/taking on and off the head has been old enough for me to worry about accuracy and doesn't look like my situation-i don't know how old she is, or if that's relevant i haven't posted enough to allow pictures, but right now she looks like this: the spring, the hard plastic cap inside the head, and the plastic peg are all separate from eachother and on the neck is a hard plastic ring and inside a ball(?) with a screw sticking out of it-the bottom of a screw not sure what happened or how to fix it, feeling kind of frustrated, any clarity would be appreciated
K-2 Posted October 9, 2017 It's hard to tell exactly what's going on without a picture, but if your neck piece is in pieces then there is a small Philips screw that may have come out, causing the spring to allow the parts to separate. Just to verify, does your neck piece look similar to this? (The body may be shorter and without the ribbing and the retaining caps can vary in shape.) This is a disassembled neck piece. If it does look like this and has come apart, try to locate the Philips screw. It would fit up into the bottom of the neck piece body so if the head came off there is the possibility it may be inside the chest or just out on the floor (or in the laundry hamper) somewhere. Verify you have all the parts and we'll go from there. My neck piece tutorial. It's still pretty accurate since the parts involved haven't changed. http://www.dolliehsanctuary.com/sanctuary/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=
ggBB Posted October 9, 2017 thank you! and yes! it does look like that--im not certain what the neck piece body looks like though the neck piece body (and base) is still in her neck- the philips screw is inside the ball part--looking down at the neck i can see the bottom of the screw still inside the ball part when she fell the spring, peg (cap), and locking collar all came out inside her head while the other parts stayed put I'm assuming the screw attaches to the cap and was unscrewed somehow-will i need to take out the pieces still in her neck and reassemble them outside? I don't really want to try pulling it out right now unless it turns out thats what you're supposed to do
K-2 Posted October 9, 2017 Sounds like your little screw just came loose so you'll need to reassemble the neck piece. Pull the base part out of the body. Be aware that the little screw is probably lodged in the little ball part or in the base. Try to hold the body up side down so the screw falls out the neck if it's loose. The retaining cap has a shaft that goes down through the spring. That shaft isn't completely round and has two flat sides. The hole in the locking collar has a similar shaped hole, round with two flat sides. The little ball inside the neck the same shaped hole. You will need to thread the retaining cap shaft through the locking collar and into the little ball. The screw goes through the other side (bottom) of the little ball and screws into the bottom of the shaft. You may find the whole assembly difficult to compress sufficiently to get the shaft into the little ball. Get some one to help you by doing the compressing while you take a small screw driver and tighten the screw. Something to be cautious of is over tightening the screw. You may be tempted to really torque down on the screw so it doesn't come loose again. Since it is just being screwed into plastic it is easy to over tighten it and strip out the hole in the bottom of the shaft. If this happens you can try removing the retaining cap and placing a drop of super glue inside the hole in the bottom of the shaft. Take a tooth pick and swirl the glue around a bit, then let it dry completely. Then try reassembling the neck piece. You might find it more difficult to screw the screw in after the glue is applied because the hole is now smaller and the screw will be cutting new treads. Just proceed carefully. If all else fails take comfort in the fact that neck pieces are available. If you have any questions, PM me.
