Volks bjd Korea is closed

I found out that Volks S. Korea closed I got most of my girls, from here. It makes me sad, I spent a lot of time and cashes here. The employees were always so nice, they even helped me to go to Doll party 34/ Joint festival in Japan in 2015. They had a picture area and all sorts of monthly events, the store will be missed. I was looking forward to going back to their location in Hongdae (Seoul South Korea) .

These are the dolls you're looking for, no you cannot haz them they r mine:)

What a shame! That's how I felt when they closed the storefront portion of Volks USA. I only got to visit there once.

Will they be continue shipping product from there, or is it closed completely?

The shoes Yumi is wearing right now in front of me came from there. They were the only place that had them in the world, and I was able to have the eBay seller I got Yaya from to be proxy and get them for me. They didn't have much on the website, but they had what I needed wanted. I bookmarked them to keep just in case for the future I needed to hunt something down again and they might have it.

If it's a volks outfit I own currenly it was from that store. If you came around prerelease dates or events, they were packed.

Seems like it's pretty much useless to expect a physical store in EU anymore, or anywhere else. Not that I ever had a single chance to get a store near my location but I always dreamt of looking at a window display full of parts.

It's crazy, I figured Volks would like to branch out. I guess overhead is too much to be anywhere else but Japan, now what to do with my Volks VIP card from S. Korea.

Volks has also closed a lot of locations in and around Tokyo these past couple of years. When I went to Japan in 2010, I hit up at least 6 or 7 stores in the main Tokyo metro area. Now, there are only 2 or 3 there. It sucks for sure but it seems that while they've closed their smaller stores, they're bulking up the remaining ones with renovations and better stock supplies.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

There are 4 counting Tenshi no Mado in Harajuku although that's SD-only (Akihabara, LaLaport and Yokohama are the others, although you could argue the last two are not 'technically' in Tokyo, they're close enough by train)

But this is definitely true - I remember going to the Fu kuoka store when I was living there back in 2009-2010 back, when I was only vaguely aware of dollfie and the store had a much smaller boutique feel to it, which people say was the 'default' feel of most of the stores. It got a makeover before I came back here and it's much bigger and there's more a sense of community when you visit.

I've also gotten to go to the three most recent incarnations of Doll Point Akihabara and it's been really cool seeing how much it's developed.

It's sad to see another Volks store close - they did announce this much earlier in the year so I thought it had already closed but I guess they stayed open for a little longer to get rid of stock etc. I assume the market is a little more competitive in Korea because most of the big names in BJD companies outside Volks are Korean. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

That is quite sad, though I guess not even Volks is immune to the need to consolidate and scale back. The first times I went to Japan in 09/10, I went to several stores in the Tokyo metro area. I think I wound up stopping at 3 in one day...? Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Akihabara. I distinctly remember Ikebukuro being a decent sized shop and was the first time I'd seen a DDS in person (Reimu and Marisa were on display ahead of the release). Shinjuku was a tiny storefront inside a shopping center catering to younger women and I remember getting into an elevator with my friend and standing out as the only guys there.

Ah well, maybe consolidation will mean they're able to refocus on their product lines.

I saw the notice about it on their instagram, they had a closing event with one offs ( probably as a thankyou to all their customers? )I'm not too surprised though, that street in Hongdae always seems to be changing in terms of what shops are there and aren't anymore;;; It is a shame tho, they usually had a lot of older clothing releases for sale there. I've gotten a few .hnaoto collaboration outfits from there ^^

I remember the Shinjuku one, the first time I went was when I was still new to BJDs and I only browsed, the second time I went was like the same month they closed Q Q

If you haven't been already tho--- you should check out the NineStyle cafe/shop which is also in Hongdae. While it's not Volks the last time I went it had photo spaces & a section of the store had clothing... Only downside is that it's further away from the main touristy area of Hongdae, but their site has a picture guide of how to get there & a map
