Hoshiko_Blue Posted October 29, 2017 Hey there everybody! I'm Hoshiko and since I've been stalk...ehm... passionately following this forum for months I figured I might as well join in XD Long story short, I discovered the BJD hobby by chance thanks to Andreja's videos on YouTube and I've spent the last year and a half researching everything about dolls and saving up to buy one. At first I thought about getting a resin one but then I found out about Dollfie Dream and Smart Doll and... well, here I am I don't have a dollfie yet, but I really hope I'll be lucky enough to get a Towa very soon (my absolute favorite, she has such a cute face and the body I like best ). I can't wait to get to know all of you and have fun together (And please excuse any mistake, I do have a Proficiency level in English but it's been a long time since I've actually written in it and it seems like I've forgotten any proper grammar rule )

Bellatrix Posted February 4, 2018 Welcome! It is so nice seeing how many italians are joining this hobby ~~ I am from Rome! Towa is so cute, I am planning to get a Karin ✩ 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓶 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔁 ✩
Hoshiko_Blue Posted February 4, 2018 Hey there! Karin is a sweetie I, on the other hand, changed plans and now I'm 7 hours of tutoring kids in Maths and Physics away of having enough money to buy a Smart Doll Cherry when the Cortex version comes out Towa didn't really clicked for me after seeing many owners' pics and it was a real bummer because I didn't know what to do next, but then Danny announced Cherry and I was istantly sold Aaaaaand I overshared again, my apologies
ajl Posted February 4, 2018 Cherry is really cute too. I love her eyes. I was thinking about getting her eyes and putting them in another doll just because I like them so much. I'm really big on posing things, and I don't like that the Smart Doll can't pose the knees as well as Dollfie can. Though, I don't own any of them, this is just what I read about them. Hoshiko_Blue Posted February 5, 2018 Her eyes are really beautiful, I especially love the color Regarding posing, having owned only barbies and bratz the mere fact that a doll can stand without having feet as big as her head is simply amazing fo me But yes, I've seen a lot of comparison photos of smart dolls and dollfies and the latter seem to pose a lot better, I definitely want to try them out too in the future
cfx Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) I think there is some trade-off between the two. The toy skelton style spine in the Smart Doll gives them some extra flexibility in the torso. From what I've read Danny intentionally limited the range of the knees for appearance over more flexibility. Edited February 5, 2018 by Guest
Hoshiko_Blue Posted February 5, 2018 Yes, it's always a matter of whether you prefer poseability or appearence, even on the resin side of the hobby is really hard to find a good balance between extreme posing and pleasantly looking joints. I, for istance, prefer the "look" over the poseability, so the Smart Doll knees being in fact single jointed aren't a problem for me, but it really depends on somebody's taste after all
