Wig comparison help!

Lately, I've been thinking of getting wigs for my girls, but I'm so lost. So, I wanted to know what your opinions are on different wig companies, how soft the fibers are, what the price range is, and what colors they offer. Specifically, right now I'm searching for one white and one black wig in the same style as Mio Akiyama's default. For comparison purposes, I've only owned 3 Volks wigs with varying quality, Mio's default and two standard wigs. Any comparisons to those would be most helpful, but any input is great. Thanks in advance.

I've gotten wigs from For My Doll, Licht, Lullaby Poem, and Leekeworld. I've picked up a few from Taobao merchants as well. To be honest Mio Akiyama's is one of the best wigs I have. Hopefully the one yours has is as good as the one mine has.

 

I got my Mio used so it's always possible that her previous owner treated it with products to make it better. I've seen some people do some good things with Volks wigs that were subpar with effort, and more knowledge than I have in that area. Hatsune Miku's default wig comes to mind. With some effort her twintails can be made a lot nicer.

 

One thing I have found is finding a wig maker who sells a stock wig that perfectly matches a specific character as drawn isn't likely. I won't say it can't happen, but even simple styles are going to be hard to match exactly. What you can do is find nice quality wigs that may suit the character in a different style. Like Mio might look good with a ponytail, or wavy hair. You might look at the anime for some style options. I can't recall if she ever really changed her hair up, but the beach episode and the various "band camp" episodes come to mind as places where she might have had a more casual look.

 

Half to fun of Dollfie is changing up the character a bit, giving a character a new hairstyle, or color, or clothing is fun. That's just me though.

 

If you want a replacement for her wig then you may have to get a custom wig made. Her style isn't too complex, so the cost might not be too bad. You might be able to get a wig with long straight hair and trim a part of it to make her side bangs, but I have no experience modifying or trimming a wig myself.

I'd recommend for a black wig to shop ForMyDoll or Crobi Doll. Both use lighter colored headcaps so staining isn't usually a concern. Crobi has better styling than ForMyDoll, just keep in mind their wigs run small so Crobi 9-10" is the best fit for DD.

Lullabye Poem also has decent wigs but I feel the fibers aren't as nice as Crobi and their styling is inconsistent. Same goes for Dollce, for the price they aren't that well styled on arrival and may require some trimming.

The 8" Crobi wigs seem to work well on small Volks heads like Kos-Mos.

I think For My Doll has really nice fibers, and the styles are more everyday than many of the Leekeworld styles. I think all their wigs are heat resisting too, but I am not 100% sure about that. Overall I think they fit Mio better. I also agree with Jadepixel that the light wig caps are a big plus. The black Leekeworld caps will stain. I like Leeke wigs when I want a really fancy style, and they are really nice wigs.

 

IIrc they (For My Doll) can do some wigs in custom colors.

 

One other note, you might have to trim the bangs on the wigs. Especially the 9 inch wigs. They probably are meant to fit SD heads more than DD heads.

Thank you both! The windswept look was kinda unintentional, I had taken her to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, so standing in a long line made it kinda messy ^-^;;; I'm glad you like it though!
