Has anyone bought the new DDP/DDF3 framed girls. I don't think the DDF3 will be out for awhile, but was wondering if anybody could do a comparison. I am interested to see a non Volks themed comparison.

DDF3 is only announced for the new Fate Grand Order pre-orders which aren't due out until next year. I don't think anyone knows if they will release the base bodies before then.

As far as DDP there are plenty of people who have them from the iM@S pre-orders that just shipped.

You can see some of them here, and I think I recall some comparison photo's with DD bodies and some other heads in some of the more recent posts in that thread.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

I think OP meant to say a comparison between DD3 and DD f3 (DDP is on the f3 frame).

Normally doing a comparison is the first thing I'd want to do, but the DDP body is so different than the DD body that it's pointless to compare. Like if you were to compare a DD2 to DD3 you could compare the range of motion of arms, different articulation, etc, but the body's are so different (mainly the size and the limits that imposes) that it limits doing a direct comparison.

The things I've noticed so far,

  • Joints and movement is really smooth. I'm pretty sure it's not just a new doll thing, it feels like it relies less on friction
  • Feet are super posable. They can twist around the ankle and stuff easily. The DDS/DD3 feet are designed to do that a little, but since it's based on friction it really doesn't feel like you're supposed to do it. For whatever reason it's easier to do on one of my Melty's feet.
  • The knees don't bend as much as a full sized DD, but that seems mainly because the legs are smaller (you can't squish the two vinyl legs parts together and still have a reasonable looking joint). They still rotate as much before though (around the axis), it feels more natural than before.
  • I haven't noticed too much difference in the neck joint & arms compared to a normal DD
  • They come with new-style wrist joints, but they have more resistance than the DD3 ones which kind of spin freely.

So basically, the joints & movement is really nice. The legs feel like they're more posable than before, at least for doing subtle things like a slightly bent, slightly rotated leg with a foot point a certain way.

Actually, I just grabbed Melty's legs to try and adjust them, and riiiight, DD legs are creaky sounding when you move them because you can hear the armature parts move. Arms too. Whenever I move Iori's limbs around they're quiet. I think that's one of the reasons why she feels easier to play with, there's just no fuss, no squeaky sounds, not that kind of sense that you're adjusting something delicate. It feels higher quality.

“Now get me some option hand parts!”
