Just curious, what option hands are there aside from the basic ones on Volks website?

As far as I know only the basic ones are available on their website. There are VS/VIP hands, and hands that are released at Dolpa. Volks USA is getting some of those in soon. The thumbs up ones and the sweetheart hands in NS & SW. Volks International also sold idol heart hands recently. Not sure if those are a VS/VIP item in stores though.

 

They haven't given a release date or details for them though. I expect quantities will be limited, and they might be a lottery thing through the USA store, but that's just a guess.

The holding/clasped hands and thumbs up are VIP/Volks News limited period exclusive hands (to get them you had to return the order form within the time period) although I believe Volks USA got some in for lottery.

The heart hands though are available always, but only at Akiba DollPoint. (Usually, anyway, I didn't realize they'd ever been on the international store)

I wasn't suggesting they were on the international store, so my bad if it read that way. I thought they were something that was sold at a Dolpa recently.

Would anyone happen to know if there's a webpage or thread here that posts all the available option hands and the skin colors they are available in? With so many skin tones now it's getting hard to keep straight which hands are available to work with what skin tone.

The Volks webstore is the best place as to show what is available and in what color. If you want all the extra special event hand options too, I don't think there is one place for such info as they haven't normally rereleased them after the events.

I was hoping for a listing of the special release hands, plus the regular ones. Bummer. There is so much going on sometimes, I find it tough to keep up with the what, where and who of doll parts.

Although it raises a question for me; at the bottom of the page it shows the wrist parts with extra mobility (which is something I didn't realise Volks had) - do these Volks wrists offer the same range of mobility as the Coolcat wrists (http://us.sk-coolcat.com/front/bin/ptdetail.phtml?Part=kss_18), or is there a difference between the two?

Nope, they offer the same mobility. And quite frankly, I wish I could buy them without that extra mobility. The times I find it useful are extremely limited and rare. Most time they mess up my poses and look unnatural, IMHO.

I think I can vaguely remember reading other comments now about the added mobility being more of a nuisance than a help... Well, if I don't try them out then I'll probably just keep wondering about them; I can always switch back to the old joints if they end up driving me mad. Thanks for the info
