Volks USA holiday event!

Miku is totally worth it. She has one of the most unique faces Volks has made.

 

Miku is on my list. But I have dedicated myself into finishing my Kagamine family first. So, first up will hafta be Rin, to join Len and Rinto...

Whenever I see vocaloids at Volks USA, I just think 'leftovers!'

 

... but really, Rin is super duper cute and I 100% recommend if you're on the fence

I assume by this point I should have my lottery results for the SD One-offs, but assuming (cause I most likely will) lose I think I may aim for Santa Saber....

Ah, very possible! Looks like the DDs go up on 11/24, whilst the SD One-Offs results are to be announced "end of November" as I recall. Since they didn't put any finer date than that on the SDs, I suppose it's possible results could come out by the time these DDs go up. Do you think you'd wait for those results if there's no word yet or jump right in and nab a Santa Alter?

 

One thing to watch out for, at least with Alter II, is that the extra blushing really sticks out against the WS, even more so than it does against NS. In case that sort of thing matters to you any. Actually, does Santa Alter have the same faceup as Alter II I wonder? Normally there are changes even with a re-release of the same doll, e.g. Alter I -> Alter II.

IMHO it doesn't look like her blushing is overly done. But then she's the only Saber I have, and one Saber is enough for me. She's my saber, no one else can have her! Get your own.

I'm another Rin enabler in here. Would also recommend highly. 10/10 would Kagamine again.

 

I wish I liked Len's face more, I really do. Or maybe not since it keeps my wallet in tact...sort of. Probably won't get one myself, but I will enable others to make custom Lens lol. Because I like seeing them anyway.

Well I have to wait for a total of 8 others that I had enter for me to confirm loss before I could nab her, and sadly I don't think at this point I could afford them both. :< I would LIKE to, but only way I could is probably if I split off her fullset which I sort of want. ><;

 

Also if I had to choose winning that lottery or getting Saber Santa I'd choose winnin' the lottery! (It is hard getting Suigintou.)

I think the second version DID have blushing issues, but yours looks so nice. She doesn't look like she has much blush as the Saber Alter ver. II had. But man I'm a fan of this mold. I just adore it.

The Miku Type 2020 outfits have been added to the lottery list! They were in the preview image on the initial email, but they weren't listed on the website until just now. I'm thinking about the pink one, but my mind's not totally made up yet.

Hnnngh. It's tempting to enter for some of the Miku outfits--- but lucky for my wallet none of them are absolute-must-haves... So my wallet is spared until they release teasers for the next dolpa lotteries I am also in favor of more people getting Rin or Saber. Rin for cuteness, Saber because Saber.

I like Len and all, but I've been tossing around the thought of turning mine into a girl and my Youmu into a boy...

 

 

As for the Alter v2 vs Santa Alter... Alter 2 does have more blush, but imo it's just a little bit more blush and not extreme at all ( I even checked some of my older pics with better lighting like this& this, although it could be personal preference or maybe I got lucky? ). Blush aside, they have the same face up as far as I can see. The hair bow on Santa Alter does not come attached though, I found it too annoying to attach without damaging the wig so I gave up. :'D

I was able to order two pairs of thumbs up hands in SWS, but they limit you to quantity 1 of the NS.

 

I didn't try the sweetheart hands because I don't really like large hands, so I can't say if they limit you on quantity there. I'd expect it's something similar with NS being more limited though.

The NS sweet heart hands were already sold out at 7am MST. So I only got the SWS ones, plus one each of the normal sized thumbs up. I don't like the larger hands, but I'll live with it for the special hands. Here's hoping more NS sweet heart hands show up.

Yeah, I also purchased those. The email didn't give that as an option though.

I believe it was supposed to be 9 am Pacific Time, but I was in at 8:55 am. Not sure how early it really opened. It's always possible a computer snafu opened it an hour early.

I was able to order at ~6:45am EST so I just assumed it went up at midnight PST.

If the actual event doesn't state an exact time they release at midnight (Pacific Time).

 

At least this is what I have learned from past experience.

Can confirm they went up on the 17th midnight PT(PST??). If I didn’t set an alarm for then I definitely would have forgotten about getting them... yesterday was really busy for me. ><“” The normal skin sweetheart hands did have a limit of one per customer while it was still in stock. They didn’t put a limit on the large size normal good job hands though.

Just bought a pair of each in the large size, except for the NS sweetheart hands I really wish I had jumped on this yesterday because I have two NS girls whose characters are supposed to be really close and they'd probably be holding hands often.

Volks USA does a lottery for one offs of Resins based on limited heads they have released from their resin storylines. They are always stunning character customs produced by Volks. I would say they are almost as impressive as the charity auction one offs. AFAIK the outfits and heads are all previously released Volks stock with a custom face-up, so the character is one of a kind even though the components themselves aren’t one of a kind like the charity dolls. Less luxurious, but just as beautiful imo.
