Mizuumi-no-Otome Posted March 1, 2018 Lottery for USA goes up today! I'm still undecided on the Super outfit, I really want it but I'm also needing some casual clothes for her, plus a small bust, plus more wigs, PLUS a bodystocking and some of Volks' hair products. Plus the Gashapon Holy Grail is perfectly sized for her and I want to get that too. So many things I need for Usagi! I do like the curl the wig comes with, but your style does seem like it'd work better for posing and interaction like you stated, good job. Thank you! Personally it feels more like Usagi's hair this way, she always has that inward curve on the ends and when she sits, it naturally kind of forms into a circular shape! Plus I prefer straighter hair (or to curl it myself) just because, even if the company's style is seemingly perfect, I will find something I want to change LOL. I don't think I've ever owned a doll I didn't want to restyle, except for maybe Kizuna's stock wig. That one was flawless. Usagi's stock curls are lovely too though, I love seeing other people's photos with them! I feel more 'connected' to a doll if I style them myself, I loved her before but the minute I put her straightened wig back on, I couldn't stop looking at her. Sorry for text wall, somehow I can't stop typing when it comes to doll hair. *Cries * shes so adorable!!! Small world! I was just scrolling through your IG! Your collection is lovely and Usagi looks great in that dress! Congrats!

archangeli Posted March 2, 2018 So I wasn't actually sure that I won until Volks sent me a shipping email with a tracking number! She arrived yesterday and I did an unboxing video. Sailor_Orbit Posted March 3, 2018 I am having trouble posting bbcode. Anyway here's the links to the DD sailor moon earrings. Did anyone else had a heck of a time putting on her earrings? I broke both earrings and lost one of them. So I got fed up and made some brass earrings with brass posts soldered directly on them. It seems a little extreme that we have to drill a hole in the ears. Is it really that difficult for them to do it for us especially when they paint each face individually? Also all the hooked on accessories keep popping off so I had to use some UV resin to end each part of it so it just doesn't fling off or get lost. The design is kind of a fail on their part when it comes to the small details with attachment. They could have at least made it snap on somehow vs slide on. As for me I would have made all the details into metal but I guess that would make it expensive for them. Also because of the valcro in the gloves it damaged my super sailor moon outfit T.T In the instructions they should make it so they put gloves on first then the rest of the outfit. *barf* Either way I greatly appreciate they did release a Volks version of Sailor Moon. The stitching and the outfit design itself is amazingly accurate and beautiful. No one has matched their workmanship with the outfits. Does anyone feel her busts are a bit too big though? I had to really pull the dress tight around her bust. If it hadn't been vinyl I doubt it would have snapped on.

I had to really pull the dress tight around her bust. If it hadn't been vinyl I doubt it would have snapped on. I personally haven't even tried with the earrings, I just put them back in the bag and didn't touch them because I just didn't see them as important enough. I'm sorry you had trouble with them, it's pretty annoying to have to pierce them yourself! Her bust is DEFINITELY too big. I don't know if they switched the bust last minute or Bandai/Toei specifically asked that her outfit be so tight (complete with pads to push her boobs down) AND have a larger bust, but yeah, it's too big. Small bust is gonna be one of the things I get her when I make my next order with Volks. I didn't look too hard but when I took her outfit off it looked like her bust was kind of pushed-in from all of that compression.

Astraea Posted March 4, 2018 Did anyone else had a heck of a time putting on her earrings? I broke both earrings and lost one of them. So I got fed up and made some brass earrings with brass posts soldered directly on them. It seems a little extreme that we have to drill a hole in the ears. Is it really that difficult for them to do it for us especially when they paint each face individually? Volks never pierces their dolls' ears as far as I know, I'm pretty sure it's because they know that a lot of people customize their dolls (and encourage it) and would prefer not to have the doll's ears pierced, since you can always put the holes into the doll's head but you can't take the holes away once they're there (unless you fill them in or something which is also probably a pain). It's the same with Sakuya, etc. Also my assumption as to why they make elf ears detachable and so on (Asuna, Kirika, etc). Although I'm sorry to hear she was so hard to make into her character, it really seems like a few poor design choices were made with the little dangly bits. It'd also be nice if Volks sold the proper tools to pierce the doll ears instead of saying "yeah go find pin vice good luck".
Sailor_Orbit Posted March 4, 2018 Luckily I do have the tools, since I majored in jewelry @.@ but still kind of silly if they don’t prepare you for the work to do so. Like it’s not even a service option. Sometimes you just want your doll to be dressed up pretty quick. Definitely plastic is too weak for that earring design. Rin Shibuya came with partially pierced ears. The hole went half way through and you had to finish it. It was kind of pointless for them to just leave it half opened since you could see the holes anyways. With Anya you had to drill them and it was kind of meh. It doesn't really make a clean open hole, and the earrings are hard to get all the way through them as a result. You might get the same results just using a sewing needle, but a pin vice is easier to grip. "yeah go find pin vice good luck". They sell them at Hobby stores, and through auto parts catalogs. They aren't too hard to find. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Yeah, I actually do think the problem is less about finding the tools and more about the confusion and exasperation that comes up when people find out they have to drill the holes themselves lol. And having the holes half-drilled is weird, kinda feels moot at that point
sinclair Posted March 4, 2018 I was half hoping that Serena's ears would come pierced when I found out she was the display model. But nope, they didn't display her with the earrings. I'd be more apt to do it myself if they had some kind of jig, template, or pattern to help locate the holes. The 'dent' in the ear would help to, and wouldn't be a visual issue if they put it on the back of the ear lobe. But since her ears didn't come with a hole already, I'll probably never do it myself as it's a limited head. Now Keiko on the other hand is a standard head and since I seem to have a growing collection of earrings that come with outfits, she may get her ears pierced. As for her bust, I swapped it to a S bust. But I haven't put one of her outfits on since. I may do that this week and post photos.
Sailor_Orbit Posted March 4, 2018 I would love to see how she looks in her small bust. I finally finished her up and placed her in my display. She’s my first fully vinyl doll, and I think I am a fan of it. Don’t have to worry about breaking her ^^ much easier to punch holes/ drill holes in this material than resin. Bellatrix Posted March 4, 2018 I actually prefer the ears to be half pierced over full pierced. I don't like piercing my doll's ears, I have never done that before and so far I don't plan to do it in the future, so imo it is nice to know that they potentially could be wearing earrings, without being forced to use them just to fill a pre-made hole. TL;DR, maybe it doesnt make much sense, but I really wouldn't have like pre-pierced ears ✩ 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓶 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔁 ✩
Nyx Whitestar Posted March 5, 2018 Anyone knows if Sailor Moon wig is heat resistant? I want to style mine a little bit but I don't want to ruin it! Thank you
BeyondTime Posted March 5, 2018 Anyone knows if Sailor Moon wig is heat resistant? I want to style mine a little bit but I don't want to ruin it!Thank you AFAIK they don't use heat resistant fibers. I read somewhere on the forum heat resistant wigs don't hold their shape long term, so they aren't as attractive for limiteds. You can style with hot water that is close to boiling, but not actually boiling, and shape it with tin foil. I have a pitcher shaped boiler from oster that makes it pretty easy to aim the water at the spot I want. You can also start pouring and move the wig under the stream. You'll have to come up something to mount the wig on so your hands are away from the water. I used that trick to fix the bangs on Chihaya's default wig so they aren't covering her eyes, and to fix tails on wigs that have been in the box too long. Volks also sells clips and curlers. If you did use clips you have to pad them really well or you will end up with clip shape imprints in the wig where it was clamped on. I would absolutely use a wig you don't care about to practice. I use a couple of poor quality wigs I got from Taobao to try out different things, and figure out how to get what I want. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Just thought I'd let everyone know that it's a great size for DD after you remove the little figurine. I got the idea from this user on Flickr! Oh that's clever! Was it easy to remove? (did you get the one with Tuxedo Mask?) I got the single one with Sailor Moon at the top- I only saw Tuxedo Mask in a little three-set of them but I didn't look hard, so he might be available separately! It took just a little twisting to pull the figurine off, it's sitting on a peg with a little glue! from the same user of them detaching it and explaining how they did the chain. I got it only for the locket but the figurine is really cute too so I have her hanging from my vanity mirror, so that's a plus lol
