Shizuka Ryoko Posted November 30, 2017 I’m new to this kind of thing so I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m trying to replicate characters from a certain book written in 1967 that takes place in the 1950s and is very famous, and let me tell you, I’m having quite trouble doing the hair the correct way. Since the hair is synthetic, I obviously am unable to style it correctly. (Note: it is a male character.) I am also having trouble finding an outfit that looks vaguely 1950s esque. Can anyone answer my questions?
Bellatrix Posted November 30, 2017 What exactly is your question? How you can do it yourself, or where to find these things? For the outfits I'd keep an eye on Dollheart, they often release historically-inspired outfits. As for the wigs... well, same. Otherwise you should try doing it by yourself, but if it is a super particular hairstyle you might encounter some difficulties, if you are not used in styling wigs. ✩ 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓶 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔁 ✩
baldylox Posted November 30, 2017 This area is for questions concerning the actual forum itself so I'm moving this thread to the doll question area where people will see it and hopefully help out. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
galatia9 Posted December 1, 2017 Which book is it? Where does the story take place? Are you looking for 1950's casual or formal dress? Looks like we have nothing for you except more questions. LOL! Shizuka Ryoko Posted December 10, 2017 It’s actually “The Outsiders”, which outside of the US, is basically unheard of. I’m actually basing the doll after the character’s appearance in the movie.
galatia9 Posted December 10, 2017 Those clothes look pretty timeless, not specific to era except for details. You could get plain t-shirts and remove the sleeves, and jeans and jackets shouldn't be too hard to find. I wish I knew where to tell you to shop, but I buy a lot of my stuff second hand. As for wigs, I would try styling short wigs with hair product, or maybe try sculpting faux fur wigs. Good luck! Shizuka Ryoko Posted December 13, 2017 Good advice. •_• However, not many shops sell normal looking clothing, so I’ll keep looking. Also, how did you know what the character wore? LOL!
galatia9 Posted December 14, 2017 Good advice. •_• However, not many shops sell normal looking clothing, so I’ll keep looking. Also, how did you know what the character wore? LOL! I remembered the movie, and looked up images from it. Volks sells a lot of "regular" clothing, you just have to find it! Secondhand marketplace on Den of Angels might be a good idea. Shizuka Ryoko Posted December 15, 2017 I’m thinking about 10-15 inches, not too high. I am trying to make all the characters, so I don’t want to spend a fortune. I’m also considering 3D printing the body parts.
