They didn't specify either way, at least in the after-report. It looks like a new sculpt to me, though, based on the close-ups. You can click on the photos in the article to make them larger.

 

Considering that the hobby department would have had to make new molds for Primula's DDS-size plastic armor bits, the doll department probably sculpted a new head for the collaboration in turn. That's what I'd speculate in any case.

Probably not molds for a one-off or prototype, but made with a commercial 3D printer.

 

My impression from the vague statements in the after report is they plan to make her but aren't fully committed or yet ready to actually make an announcement. I've seen enough such statements from Japanese companies in the videogame industry where they say basically "look forward to news" and it tends to lead to the thing actually happening.

 

I'm lousy at identifying head sculpts with how much the appearance is changed by faceups, but I was trying to see if the faceup matched anything in existence. She's done in a similar style to Asuna and a few of the Idolmaster girls, but doesn't match anything I could find.

 

If they make her I'd be very interested in getting her.

 

I think maybe it was already mentioned in the thread, but did anyone else notice that while the faceup and armor parts look like an actual product or real prototype, that the sewing on the skirt is pretty sloppy, like something maybe done at the last minute?

Ya I didn't think they'd make a new sculpt if they weren't going to release her. But her sculpt does look different to me. I'm actually pretty good with sculpt recognition, that's why it's puzzling to me.

I kind of hope they do decide to sell her commercially because I really like that sculpt and faceup.

Me too though I dislike those little white dots on the cheeks; I wish that trend would go away already.

She's very cute and lively looking! I wonder if she was developed around the same time as Towa. To me they look similar other than the mouth.

Someone who knows japanese should probably try to inbox them the question via mail! I wish I could do it, if only I had any vague idea how to do it (and Goggle Translate is not really helping, unless a bad traslate is enough aha).

Apparently they're doing a "Primula Production Survey" at Dolpa 39! Too bad it's limited to attendees though. They should run an online survey too.

I took a picture of her when I was at Dolpa and thought it would be worth sharing. (I voted for her in the anket)

 

She's really cute in person with a very distinct :3 face that's distinctly different from Airy or Akira.

 

However, I'll point out that she has a similar cheek and overall head shape as Towa.

Ahah! I haven't noticed before, but now that I do it really looks super cheap!

Yeah, that trim has been bothering me too, ever since I saw the first photos of her >___<

She's super cute from the front, but seeing other pics of her she has that flatness like SMD.

You're more right than you probably imagined, and those like me that thought the sculpt looked similar to Ranka or something have been had lol.

The placard shown towards the bottom of the page...says the head is "Standard Model Towa Head"; obviously the faceup is different.

So most of her mouth is just painted on? Towa has a very tiny mouth and this one is visually one of the wider ones on a DD.

 

I would have never guessed this is Towa; even when I read your comment originally my first thought was just "I don't see that"

 

That all likely means if they do make her she may not look exactly like this prototype, as I woudln't think they would just use Towa's head. It'd also be unusual for them to use a head and "cheat" like that to make it look different.

She is wonderful, I like her I hope Volks will release her! I've seen these little girls while I was in Japan, they're cute!

Wow, I never would have guessed she is Towa either. They really painted that mouth on there and her eye paint make her eyes look much bigger too. I didn't think they'd make a new sculpt for a WIP doll like this, but I couldn't figure out what sculpt she might be using.

What a twist! I don't care for Towa's default look at all, personally, but as Fiore she's super cute.
