DD Plans and Hopes: 2018

A new year, a new batch of plans!

Last year, I was WAY overambitious in my plans, but I did still get some cool stuff done that wasn't originally on my list: I redid Miku's faceup, I adopted my first boy and did his faceup and eyes, I made Miku a really cute mermaid outfit, and at least customized a dress for Abby. So that was good. But there were a ton of things on my to-do list I didn't even touch, because it was, frankly, way too much.

 

So, now I'm leaving some space for other crafts and down weekends, so I don't completely lose my marbles this time.

 

The things I really DO want to do:

 

-BUY AT LEAST TWO ALICE'S COLLECTION'S STANDS. The cheap-as-free craft store ones I have are starting to die, and between having magical girls and skate dorks, I need something that can handle action poses.

 

-Make at least one dress for Fate. I'm thinking of using that burgundy fabric I have around, to make her a summer dress with the same (or similar) to Nanoha's purple one. Fingers crossed, this should at least in theory be a chill project.

 

-Make Yuuri at least one of his skate outfits. I'm leaning towards the free skate costume, because even though the closure on the jacket is gonna be a bear, I should be able to get away with using the slacks from the Kirito default, and therefore only have to make the jacket and undershirt.

 

-Finally buy some backdrops from Evil-Bay, so I can use my craft room as a photo space on days when it's just too freakin' hot and bright to take photos outside.

 

-Bring my tripod, camera, and a doll to work, so after I clock out (during winter, that's after dark), I can take some neat night shots in the photogenic-as-F courtyard.

 

Bonus rounds, pending time, money, and inspiration:

 

-Get a Smart Doll Eiji 2.0 to turn into Viktor, because Yuuri needs his trophy husband. (That is, the husband that brings the most trophies to the relationship, LOL.) This is mostly pending what my tax return ends up looking like.

 

-Make an outfit for Homura. Doesn't really matter what, just. . . make SOMETHING. Girl has far too few options. Maybe steampunk, for double bonus points?

 

-Make some accessories for Abby's modified pink, floofy dress, so she can go full classic magical girl.

 

-Possibly make Yuuri a new pair of smaller eyes. I'm kind of starting to feel like 22mm is really too big for him, which is a shame, because I love the color and sparkle of the ones he has right now. But when needs must. . .

 

So, that's where my ideas stand for this year. We'll see if I can get more than 25% completion this time.

My plans for this year have been thought out a whole lot more than last years.

 

-Get Liliru

-Start a "secret" Dollfie project (That'll no long be secret once the part I'm waiting for comes in the mail. Be expecting a post about that sometime in the upcoming week...)

-Buy those purple sneakers from Volks News 76, and just MDD sized shoes in general.

-Make some doll furniture. I've been really wanting a chair for Liliru so she can lounge on my desk.

-Maybe get a camera, it would be nice to have something other than a cellphone to take pictures...

Bonus Goal:

-Convince my friend to get a doll. I've been showing him some mock ups of Parabox heads as his OCs and he thinks they're amazing. If I'm lucky, I can get him to get my future girls some "cousins"

I wondered when this thread was going to start.

Let me know when you do that as I want to get a couple too, and ordering together might make shipping cheaper. But then ordering that many at once might slow the order fulfillment down, as last I heard they always seemed to be out of stock.

 

Other items;

- Clean my bedroom and make a doll "dresser." It'll really be shelves that I put the totes O have their outfits in. Having a stack of totes makes it hard to change their outfits if the one I need is on the bottom, as it always is.

- I have a new sewing machine, and have had it for like 3-4 months. Haven't pulled it out of the box yet. So I need to make something! Was going to over the holidays, but everyone took turns getting sick instead.

- Do everything I can to get Sailor Moon and her extra outfit this month.

- Get Karin.

-Keep an eye out for the perfect SWS head for a MDD I have in mind.

 

I know what will happen will be different in the end, but this is my plan.

Alright, don't know exactly how much of this I'll be able to do, but here's what I want to do:

- Get an MDD (hopefully Arle if a good chance comes up or a rerelease somehow happens with that voting gauntlet)

- Spoil the heck out of her

- Get a practice head, probably a Parabox Ai-chan for cheap to attempt my own faceups or mods

- Be prepared for if a girl I want comes out or pops up on the market for a good price

- Maybe try my hand at making dolly furniture--simple stuff like a chair or a bed? Not sure yet

- Sew more

 

Just to set some goals I guess. I probably won't have a lot of free time with my course schedule though (still not sure engineering was a good idea for my sanity lol), but I can try!

I just recently more active in the hobby at the end of last year, so finally I have plans to do this year ~

 

- I have a new sewing machine, and have had it for like 3-4 months. Haven't pulled it out of the box yet. So I need to make something! Was going to over the holidays, but everyone took turns getting sick instead.

 

- What a coincidence! I also just bought sewing machine 2-3 months ago but just so busy that I have not use it yet, beside testing it. So this year, i hope to learn how to use this machine and make nice, decent clothes

- Practice faceup, since my faceup is not good yet and need lot of improvement...

- Learn making wig, so I don't have to get frustrated with trial and error like colors, style, etc

- saving for the unknown (maybe for 2B or *hopes as high as the stars and moon* re-release of Lily)

 

And the most important things is

- going to a local meetup for the first time in my life, just because I'm afraid to be a social-awkward, always made bazillion reason not to be able to go and made myself busy when there is a schedule for meetup orz

For 2018 my plans and wishes are....

 

-finding the Fate/Grand Order Saber one of my VERY top priorities in this year. she is so awesome.

-to buy one of these wonderful Santa dresses which will be available via click war soon. I have always wanted a christmas outfit that is showing some cleveage in a darker red. jackpot!

-buying more DD stands from Coolcat

-buying few anti stain suits to finally dress up my girls in the darker clothes I bought for them

-paying off the layaway for another girl within the next 3 months

Well, in the last three months of 2017 I did pratically nothing of what I had planned besides saving up every cent I came across, so for this year my hopes are:

 

-Buy a Smart Doll Cherry in the Cortex version (I really can't wait to have my first girl and this seems the best option so far)

 

-Buy some shoes from Alice's Collection that I've been eyeing for ages

 

-Improve photography skills and maybe start saving up to buy a DSLR camera

 

-Learn how to sew at least basic clothes

 

But most importantly I wanna have fun in this awesome community

(still not sure engineering was a good idea for my sanity lol)

 

As a fellow engineer (Mechanical.) I can tell you that schooling is just just crazy. It's how they weed out those that won't cut it. Work life hasn't been as insane as school, yet.

This is making me remember how much sewing I have left unfinished at home, man. I really want to get better at sewing this year too, the poor machine has been abandoned for more than six months and everything I make feels a little "off".

I've heard that before. I'm hanging on, but my life is 90% school. It's good to hear it calms down out there though.

1. actually make a thread for my dolls on here

2. Get 9S and Luka

3. Decide who I have to part with for an entire year and take those back to Australia when I visit in July, to cut down on the amount of dolls I will have to eventually ship home. Worst comes to worst we're drawing straws lol.

4. Get Mel's face repainted! This is hopefully happening soon as one of my fave faceup artists is reopening slots either this month or next.

5. Now that I have a Nikon, improve my photography! And travel with my dolls more. I'm not really comfortable taking outdoor photos in this town because I dont need to give the people here another reason to find me weird but I'll definitely take them to other places. I am already planning to take Miku to Sapporo next month.

My DD hopes is to not buy anymore dolls. Unless 2B and Luka are just too irresistible I might end up buying them just to display them. ><

I also hope Volks releases a man DD. I need to replace my smart doll boy eventually but dang it Volks bring me a man not noodly boys! And last but not least, to get a custom made suit for my boy. Since Volk's definition of SD13 size tends to be out of wack and sometimes too big and sometimes it's just right.

For this year I'd like to:

 

~ Take more photos of my girls and actually do a a post in the database for them e____e X

~ BUY SHOES Ziizar is been wearing the same for over a year already D: X

~ Buy a few more clothes for Ziizar (it kinda feels like I don't love her, but I really do) X

~ Do a wig for Ziizar and another for Mariko (so far only Josephine has been getting some xD) X

~ I still want to get a second Mariko to customise or my first MDD X

~ I would LOVE to get a tan 09 girl, but man, it seems that it'll be easier to find a Tamaki than one of those xD X

 

But like most people on this thread I'd like to spend less this year xD

 

In the end the only thing I did was spending less in dolls, but I did spend in the end xD

 

For this year I'd like to keep a lot of these, since I still want a second Mariko and a tan DD x3 but I'd like to say that I did do some of this next year, so here are some a bit more possible:

 

~ I want to take more pictures of my girls, and made a beautiful post like most of you already have xD

~ I want to make more wigs for my other girls, in the end I made a new one for Jo, but none for Mariko of Zii...

~ Get a MDD body for the 01 head that is getting a face up : D

~ And I really need to gave more love to Ziizar, she needs a change of clothes xD

It's time to break my yearly rules again.

 

1. DO NOT buy any dolls, unless it's another tan girl or 9S (I've already broken this rule. I bought a head at 12:34 am on January 1st. She's very cute though).

2. Buy bodies for my two MDD heads and the impulse head from Jan 1st.

3. Buy a tall bookcase to relocate the ladies to, as I've run out of room for them where they're currently hanging out.

4. Attempt to buy a digital camera, so that I can try to get some decent photos of everyone.

5. Do more with my dolls. Take more pictures of them, change their clothes more often, etc.

6. Buy more shoes and socks for them. They don't need more outfits.

7. Secure a male body for my incoming Jeanne head. Please make the male bodies standard, Volks!

8. Buy at least one doll stand. I always have to sit my dolls down at meets.

9. Complete Poppy's stain treatment this year.

Since I started collecting in the middle of last year I didn't really have much in the way of plans. But now I have GOALS! Sorted from most to least pressing.

 

-- Buy the Yume-kyun SD set and pastel sneakers from VN76

-- Finish Tansy (bought her eyes, need to wait on those and do her faceup)

-- Finish Eli (bought eyes, need to buy wig / outfit / pay for body since she's only on a loaner at the moment)

-- Finish Cygnus (bought eyes, need to buy wig, test out dye on sample chip before going all in on the dyeing and painting)

-- Buy more clothes for anyone who isn't named Ellspeth or Flash

-- For that matter, SEW some clothes now that I have a proper sewing machine

-- Buy Smart Doll Cherry (so Merope can have Nemuri to bicker with)

-- Figure out what I want to do with Towa's head if and when I get it

-- MAYBE save up for a proxy to hook me up with a tan DDdy Dream Choice? (this is a big maybe. Flash has a half-sister named Freeze and this would be the perfect body type to shell her into... but IDK if I have the motivation.)

I dont see myself getting much done this year, ill be working lots, but planning on having 2 holidays (spaced out) :p

 

1. Sailor Moon + Super Moon outfit

2. Luka + any Luka themed outfits

3. Get bodies for some of my floating heads

4. Shoes

5. Hope volks doesnt release too many dolls/outfits i like

Won't get too ambitious since I'll be quite busy with my studies, but:

 

1. Buy new eyes

2. Take some decent photos I can post here

3. Sew some socks

4. Pierce Abi's ears

5. Save money for another doll

I am also going to be quite busy with school, but I don't want to let that stop me. I have some goals I want to try this year!

 

1. Learn how to sew to make clothes for Miku

2. Learn how to make wigs

3. Get some new eyes for Miku. Any colors. All colors. We need more eyes!

4. Knit more for the dolls.

5. Save up for possible Luka and Luka outfits. I actually hope she won't drop for another year, but I'm going to be prepared if she does come out this year.

6. Decide on if I want a tan Smart Doll and start collecting parts I want.

7. Support my Mom if she decides to save up for a Smart Doll! I showed them to her and she fell in love. Since she will be helping me learn how to sew for Miku, having Miku around will help her understand if she likes the size or would prefer sticking to the 18" AG size.

8. Get Miku a one-peice small bust. I finally decided to go one piece and I think I will be very, very happy with that choice once I'm able to get it and get it on her.

I did well with last year's goals, so I'll try to make this year's goals equally realistic and workable.

 

1. Continue improving my photography with both indoor (flash-based) and outdoor photography.

1A. To aid in this, get a couple of those Alice's Collection stands.

1B. Also get a tripod.

 

2. Obtain Mei's outfit from Pokemon B2W2 in full (I have a couple parts, like shoes, but not pieces to make all of it).

 

3. If a SW DDP comes out for general release, get a DDP body for Mei.

 

4. Don't impulse buy any dolls not previously planned.

 

5. Get a head and body for a certain character I've had in the works for too long. Also a wig.

 

6. Commission the outfit of said character once I have the body on hand.

 

7. If possible, obtain one of Mei's alternate outfits from B2W2.

In hope that I can complete these goals during the year ( ｀ー´)ノ

 

• 1) Buy a pair of fitting eyes for Elys. She's been wearing her default ones since the day I received her ///
  2) Get more specific pieces of clothing, starting with shoes.
  3) Slowly start to build small props, and maybe move on to bigger-scaled projects.
  4) Only if these three goals have been completed, start on a custom head project ♥

 

I really want to spend 2018 enjoying the hobby. Focusing on it was hard this past year, so I fully intend to jump ahead and start having fun with it again (*'▽')

My goals for this year would probably be...

 

- Finish Willis' faceup and buy eyes for him

- Buy a SWS DDH10 and Obitsu 45cm male body (to shell another one of my ocs, Taiga)

- Begin to shell Saihara (? still wondering whether or not I should continue this one...)

- Buy more clothes for my doll(s)

- Learn to take better photography

 

My main ones are finishing Willis and taking better photography but here's to hoping this coming year will be as successful as 2017 was!

- Start getting bodies for the floating heads.

- Get the clothes and wigs that my dolls need for their characters.

- Get more clothes!!! Clothes are never enough!!!

- After uni, I hope to be able to start making DD resin eyes...

- Also hoping to start making synthetic wigs for DDs...

- Possibly get 9S if I like his sculpt!

- Try and not impulse buy a lot!

mine is:

 

-get a DDY body for my new head ^^

-get more clothes

-have my own room for my dolly stuff *if husband let me the room for my workshop*

I’m hoping to travel with my Rin for the first time this year and I’d like to save up for a Miku by the end of the year. Can’t decide on snow Miku or regular Miku though. :T

My plans and hopes for 2018 are :

 

- Get a new DD body for Rise. She has an old DDII body and I wanna upgrade it.

- A LOT less impulse-buying when it comes to outfits and wigs.

- Meet fellow Dollfie Dream owners at a doll meet

- Get a MDD Arle

I hope I can actually buy my first DD this year; 2018 might finally be my chance. I hope to maybe attend a DD or dollmeet up in general this year too. That'd be awesome.
