DD Plans and Hopes: 2018

- Actually settle on a body for my DDH-09 head. I keep flipflopping between getting a DDDY and hopefully a peach pai for her and getting her a DDS m-bust one-piece torso. It's so hard to decide, seriously.

- Send my DDH-09 head off to get a face-up. I already have a commission spot, so this should be taken care of in March if everything goes according to plan.

- Actually get a body for my DDH-09 head, when I have decided which one to get.

- Make my full lace wig for my girl. It's gonna take some time, but it's gonna be so great I hope.

- Come up with a name for my DDH-09... Can't keep calling her DDH-09.

- Make an instagram for my dollfie, because I'm a roleplaying nerd, and she's gonna be a popular idol one day!

- Post on here enough to get full access to the site. (Good luck with that I'm too shy this is even my first post even though I've been visiting this site everyday the last past months)

- Somehow get a Baby the Stars Shine Bright collab outfit. I'm into Baby's real human clothes, so I really want their doll clothes too. If not possible at least get her SOME clothes.

- Take lots of DD pictures, when I have a complete doll.

Plans and hopes for this year, lets see.

 

plans

- Spend the money I do have allotted for dolls on the girls I already have. Beef up their wardrobe and accessories. They have been neglected these past couple of years because of (well, life things) and also committing to the preorder doll/entering (and somehow winning) lotteries. I decided not to go for Saber this year in order to focus on my current girls.

 

Hopes

- Breaks my first rule, however. I have a burning feeling Volks will do a Cardcaptor Sakura DDP this year. It's the 20th anniversary of the original series, and a brand new continuation airing now. This will trump my no new doll this year rule, because I COULD NOT ignore a CCS doll. Kero plushie please and thank you Offtopic, but a well done Smart doll CC might also break this rule

I kind of have one goal, and that is to collect the last few iM@S girls I am missing before they release any more.

 

Hopes

CCS is awesome, but I am all about Tomoyo. I think I would prefer the TRC version of her though.

I'm hoping I can get my first doll soon! And get her customized to look like Natsuki (from my avatar!) And then maybe make some outfits and stuff? I can make plush but clothing has always been kind of a confusing thing for me, so I think starting small on a doll (but not TOO small, like play-doll size) would be a good place to learn.

 

It would be fun to make little cosplay outfits for her that relate to whatever con I'm selling at, and have her as part of my table display.

- Get a head

- Eventually build her up

- Probably make her as one of the armed tactical dolls seen on Twitter, I have enough gear for her

- Buy Dollfie Dream Sailor Moon

- Buy Super Sailor Moon outfit

- Make some stuff for my DD

Buy MDD3 body in semi-white and find a 10 head. Then spoil her.

 

Find shoes to fit.

Plans

-Send Sonico out for a faceup

-Sew more clothes for both girls

-Sew Mayuri’s main outfit

-Go to a doll meet

-Learn to take better photos

-Be more active online

 

Hopes

-Get a Smartdoll cortex

-Buy 2 bodies for floating heads

-Finish at least one of the many doll outfits I have started

-Get some props for my girls

-Hopefully get a SmD boy

trying to stay disciplined(tho the marketplace here makes that really friggin hard) to save up and make Miki Hoshii my unicorn come true!

 

after that i wanna grab some new bodies and parts upgrades for a few of the girls that have been wanting them.

 

this discipline thing is really hard to do

My current plans for 2018 are:

 

- Buy a new head for my DD3 body - perhaps an 04 or 06 (the 07 head I have doesn't suit my plans) Done! I've even managed to complete the faceup within a month of it arriving! Huzzah!

- Maybe buy the DDdy hips and thighs to put on the aforementioned DD3 body.

- Buy Luka.

- Buy Karin if Luka isn't released.

- Maybe buy another Smart Doll - perhaps Cherry or Infinity. Or maybe Mirai - she's such a cutie!

- Work out a better indoor photography setup since I never seem to take photos during daylight hours.

- Watch for any news about a Cardcaptor Sakura doll!

 

If a CCS doll is announced this year it may just override all my doll buying plans. Just thinking about the possibility of having a doll of Sakura and all those cute outfits to dress her up in makes me stupidly happy

I love making doll plans! Sadly (for my poor wallet) I’m not that good at sticking to them

For 2018 I really hope to:

 

- find the Sailor Moon crisis outfit (for a decent price...one can dream right?)

- buy MDD Liliru,or DD Len,or DDy Towa when I travel to Japan in april

- buy more clothes and shoes for the dolls that I already have

- organize all my doll stuff in a different way than “stuck everything into a box until it explodes”

- try to get a little bit better at photograpy (and maybe buying some proper lights for indoor photos)

- NO.MORE.IMPULSE.BUYS. (Who am I kidding? Half of my crew is here thanks to impulse buying...)

I'm not much of a DD girl myself but if I love my Sailor Moon as much as I think I'm going to...I'm gonna need MORE LMAO. I've had two Smart Dolls before and while I think I'm going to love DD more, I feel like I wouldn't take her out enough to want more than one or two but w/e plans-

 

-Get a long blonde wig with wispy bangs for the SM DDS, as well as locate a Pullip SM stock wig for her since the DDS' stock wig only looks good with the odango shields and I'd want an extra for casual outfits

-Spend a fortune on extra outfits for her (Princess Serenity outfit, Seifuku, pink pajamas from the anime)

-Find and seduce whoever made those Sera Myu DDs

 

If I decide I want more these are my ideas-

 

- Pray for Danny to release an injection molded version of the tan skin (tea skin I think he calls it)

-Commission Sailor Pluto faceup, eyes and outfit for it. Maybe even a wig if I can't find the exact wig I need for her.

-Either buy a Standard Model or make a DDS OC so I have one character that I can just dress/style without deviating from the character OR get SmD Harmony 2.0

-Actually execute my long-finalized plans for a Chobits Chii DD

I gonna cease on further expanding my doll collection for the time being and focus on dressing them up in fantasy style. I plan on setting my dolls as following:

 

1. Elven high sorceress (completed): Custom DDH-07 head bid from auction. She's my favorite doll and I literally devoted most resources on her for the past year. The staff and the shoes still have rooms for improvements though.

 

2. Elven elite archer (WIP): This one is Kirika model and it's mostly done. She still need a new cloak with hood and new shoulder armor design.

 

3. Heavy knight (planned): Sakuya model. Some armor pieces were from Saber Lily's official armors, but it lacks a full body plate.

 

4. Oriental blade master (planned): Sakuya crimson model. Will try to piece out concept design using existing clothes first.

 

5. High priestess (planned): Sasara model. The overall concept will be based on nun.

I don't have very specific plans for this year (which is actually my first "real" year of doll collecting since I finally acquired my first DD in December '17) but I hope for one thing;

I'd love to buy a male Smart Doll from Danny Choo but the current models don't live up to my expectations. Since Mr Choo mentioned releasing new Smart Doll models/face ups this year I'm looking forward to hopefully a new male Smart Doll that fits my character!

I never manage to carry through on these beginning of year plans, but here are my thoughts for right now.

 

First off, when I finally assembled Ranka and then had all five of my DD girls together, there was a feeling of satisfaction. It was kind of a "this is what I wanted" moment. As I waited to get a DDS body, I was tempted to order two different Sabers. I considered ordering a DD Standard Karin. I also had my eyes on an Azone doll. All that sort of evaporated as my girls gathered together. Therefore, my plan as of right now is that I'm locked in at five. I don't plan to get any more dolls.

 

I've probably said that before. I don't know if it will hold true. But for right now I think it would take something extremely special to change my mind. Volks would have to do a Saber Lily re-release or announce a DD Lynn Minmay. Neither seems likely, so I'm pretty safe, but who knows what Volks has in mind for the coming year. I never thought I'd get a Rin Tohsaka or a Kagamine Rin. Let's see if I can stick to my guns.

 

I want to do a lot of scaling back in terms of purchases. Some of that will be mandatory. I've recently changed jobs. The new job doesn't pay quite as much. The good news is that I enter the new phase of my life debt free, but my DD girls are going to have to deal with fewer outfits going forward so I can keep things that way.

 

I need to get stands. Furniture would be nice too. I also would like to improve my photos, and have been looking at lightboxes and just lighting and background options in general.

So...I have one dollfie dream plan for 2018

 

 

-start “building” my doll. I plan to buy each part separately and maybe buy a dollfie Head off a marketplace somewhere. I feel buying each part separately will work best since the parts separately aren’t to expensive. I know...strange. If I could afford one of the characters I’d go for them but we’re saving for vacation so this is easier on me.

My plans this year.. Have my first girl, a DDS, arrive soon and give her a face up as well as sew more clothes in her size and order more of the things I can't make (wigs, shoes, eyes).

 

Then possibly order a few bank heads (especially DDH-01 & 09) to make more face ups.

 

If I can manage to then I'd love to get an MDD body to make one of the 01 heads into an oni character, as well as buy a DD during a trip to Japan.

I just started getting my girls this month, but I already have plans OTL

 

Doll Goals:

- Get 2 DD/DDS SW body.

- Get Takane Shijou (maybe by end of year/Christmas)

- Get my Yukiho a custom face-up (D: NERVOUS)

 

General:

- More wigs

- More clothes

- A safe place to store my dolls away from cats (rn I have no cats in Japan, but in the states...)

- Hoping to get a blank DDH-06 head (bc she's cute and versatile) to practice face-ups on. Lord have mercy on my soul. RIP anyone who sees the eventual monstrosities.

- Maybe find a doll meet-up in the area where I move back to. Or connect more on social media w/ other doll owners.

- Help the BF get his first DD.

@Lookame - You know, I've considered that strategy myself. If you think of it, the heads are very expensive, but buying separately means you can get a customized head of your choice! Good luck with building your doll!

 

@Elys - You're getting your first doll soon? Congratulations! What kind of clothes are you sewing? I've been able to do some skirts "well enough". I'm currently working on pants, but I haven't been able to get those to work yet...good luck with your faceups! That's an area I'm too scared to attempt...

 

@Kazumi - Good luck with your faceup adventure! I'm sure they won't be monstrous It'll be fine! What kind of faceups are you looking to do? I just looked up Takane Shijou and she is lovely. Best of luck with her!

@SylvanJade Thank you! I love the DDH06 head so I’m planning to get a blank one and practice on her. I love drawing and I’m curious to try it on a 3D canvas. I really like the pure/gentle style and glossy lips so I’ll aim for that. And Takane Shijou is gorgeous! I like her best customized but I have two heads incoming so I’m putting her off until the holidays and when the other girls are finished. ^^

Oh yes, the DDH-06 head has absolutely gorgeous potential. And testing out on your other two heads will give you lots of practice for your Takane! I cannot wait to see some pictures!

@SylvanJade you're really kind! thank you for the encouragement! I'll pick up some blank ones soon-ish as the two I have coming in are customs already (and I have no intention of wiping either! Worked too hard in bidding wars for them haha). My DDH06 actually arrived so that's nice! \o/ Do you have any doll plans this year? I looked back but didn't see your post! (Sorry if I missed it!)

I was lucky to welcome a girl home recently! Just her head, though, so now it's time to plan on making her complete.

 

2018 Plans

-Get a MDD body for her. (This will probably be my bday / holiday present to myself)

-Acquire some eyes. Maybe even make them myself!

-Acquire a wig in a fantasy color - probably pink.

-Make her some clothes!

-DECIDE ON A NAME. So she isn't just "DD-chan" any more.

 

Ah, I'm so excited~ She's really beautiful, so I can't wait until I can put her all together~!
