Looking at buying a DDII

Recommended Posts

Shadow Cat

Hey, Sorry if this has already been asked, I've had a look through some of the stickies and it wasn't mentioned, or I missed it ^.6

---

I'm looking at buying another DD, This time it would be 2nd hand as its in my budget and a character I'm after rather than getting another Standard model.

I currently own a DDIII Mirai and MDD Rena with a fair few additional things like hands, wigs, a spare head

I'm just wondering what parts could be used between the DD Base Body II and DD Base Body III. Will most things just swap over without any problems? Main things would be Bust (Currently has Med Bust, Would likely change to Small), Hands and Head

I've noticed the joints are very different between Base Body I vs II but I'm not familiar with II and III

---

Also, There is no problem using DD heads on MDD is there? They seem the same size, only difference seems the body

---

Thanks

Shadow~~

Heads and hands should be completely compatible, and yes, DD heads fit on MDD bodies, although sometimes they look a bit too large or bobble-headed. Figuring out which heads work on which bodies is somewhat trial and error, but you could always ask around the forums if anyone's tried with that particular head before

As for busts, I've put a DD3 bust on a DD2 torso before, and it does fit on but it's very, very snug. The main difference is that DD3 has a thin peg frame inside the torso, where DD2 has a hard plastic inner torso -- the other day I saw someone call it a ribcage, which is kind of right? A DD3 bust will fit on the ribcage piece, but you'll probably have to heat the vinyl with a hairdryer to get it pliable enough, and it'll take a lot of wiggling.

You can always post a request for photos for a particular doll body with a particular head. No guarantee you will get a response, but in the past people have responded to requests for things like DD body with DDS legs photos so it doesn’t hurt to ask.

I swap hands between DDII & III all the time, and clothes fit just fine between the two as well.

Was the best thing I could think of at the time Hard plastic inner torso is way more accurate.

One major difference is the lack of a double joint at the elbows. This limits posing to some degree when compared to the DDIII/DDS body. You may have issues with loose joints due to age and use. All my DDII are kind of floppy compared to my DDIII bodies, but still much less so that my SDs. I think the biggest problem there is that some SD parts are designed to lock in place to help them stand stabily as long as the elastic is under proper tension. Elastic is easy to adjust, and can be replaced when it gets old. DDs rely on joint friction, and if that’s gone there is nothing to keep their parts in position. You may be able to fix some of the parts, but new replacements may be harder come by.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Just to add to the good info posted already, you can upgrade posability on DDII by replacing the arms with DD III arms. However, you can't do the reverse (DDII arms on DDIII body).

Although if you're planning to upgrade eventually anyway, the DDf3 body has been announced for the latest pre-order dolls and it's got improvements on the DDIII body. I'm guessing it'll be available later this year but no official word yet.

Really sorry for the late reply ^.^

After some consideration on price, and about 5 hours of looking through pages, I've decided against another Dollfie and ended up going for a Parabox custom basic Set Hime-Ane

I was looking at buying a Parabox (Obitsu) before my first Dollfie purchase but decided against it in favor of MDD Rena... Wow this is going back to November 2015.

I will post pics when I get her. I would take photo's of Mirai and Rena but they're wearing slightly unofficial outfits. Well, Mirai is wearing a Smart Doll outfit, whats kinda unofficial

Bit off topic,

Would MDD outfits fit on a 45cm Obitsu doll?

They do for the most part but skirts and pants will be shorter on them and some shirts will be tighter depending on what chest the 45cm has. And the Obitsu feet are a bit larger too so some of the smaller MDD shoes won't fit.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
