Character body versus standard

Recommended Posts

amarilian

I have a question as follows. Compared to a standard body, what is the real difference between say a standard edition body from volks, and say the body from say the character Alna. I have seen people post bodies for sale, but aren't the bodies just standard bodies with a characters head?

These are the dolls you're looking for, no you cannot haz them they r mine:)

As far as I know they're just bodies with unique head sculpts. Like my Kagamine Rin's body is just a DDS body and a head.

Basically standard bodies with character heads. But it happens that some limited dolls come with special bodies. For example, for now, DD Boy and DDS Boy bodies, DDPs as well, are exclusives since the bodies aren't standards.

Exactly, sellers probably specify the model of the original doll to prove the date of production, or such. There is no difference between default bodies, and the ones of limited dolls.

To be precise, some bodies are exclusive of certain dolls, such as Kan'u's tan body and Yoko's modified Dynamite body (and Alna's white Dynamite body? I am not sure if they released it as standard, in the end. In the beginning it wasn't), but they are quite rare, and usually there is a reason behind the choise of making them exclusive, such as a certain skin tone or body shapes.

This is also true, but hopefully they will be released as standard!

I guess the OP is confused as to why people mention whose body it is. It is mostly to specify what year they were made, so the buyer can be aware that hey, this body is pretty old, it might not be loose yet at time of sale, but it will get loose soon? Or some specific releases were known to have problems (such as some Saber pre-orders, but I don't remember which). So at time of sale, it might not have breaks, but it is possible that once the buyer gets it, it might show the problematic parts etc. Some people are just a little bit lazy, and instead of looking up if this body is S/M/L, WS/NS, they just say "This body is from Erica Fontaine", so then you know exactly which bust it comes with and what color it comes in.

And then of course there are those very few ones that had special bodies, such as Yokos'.

Good point. Like, Nia Teppelin's vinyl lot was notorious for yellowing, and the first DDS bodies could be fragile, so knowing about specific bodies can be pretty important to a buyer.
