Requiem Art Designs Posted February 28, 2018 (edited) One of my major ongoing projects is breaking down dolls into different 'sizes'. Usually, when you have a doll and want to know which other doll clothes it can wear you look at pictures, and try and find comparisons, and be like "if A can wear B's clothes and C can wear A's clothes then C can probably wear B's clothes" Not exact enough for me! What I do is measure every doll I can get my hands on and compare the numbers. Dolls with almost all the same measurements get sorted into the same 'size' but dolls with the same proportions also get sorted into the same size. DDs are in my "Curvy 1/3" size. Patterns are slightly different from pre-made clothes because when you sew in closures you can tweak the fit +/- slightly with around 1 cm either way to customize the fit. That means the same pattern may work for 2 dolls who can't usually swap clothes easily, but you can still check numbers against the chart to get a more educated guess I do a 4-5 week rotation of different doll sizes, and this week I'm working on Qi Loli dresses: Love that fabric on Melty Edited April 8, 2018 by Guest Blog ~ Doll Clothes Patterns ~ Facebook ~ Instagram

sinclair Posted March 1, 2018 That is a cute dress. The topic says patterns, so where is the pattern?
vhdangel Posted March 2, 2018 She sells them in her Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DGRequiem They're inexpensive and she often runs sales. They're also fairly easy to use and she's great about helping if you have questions.
Requiem Art Designs Posted March 2, 2018 Slyviolin thanks! Vhdangel beat me to it Thanks! Yeah, I'm happy to answer questions. I usually get about a dozen a day! This isn't a B/S/T sub forum so I'm not sure what is OK to post/link or not so I stuck to the size chart because that's really helpful and one of my WIPs modeled on a DDs because that is definitely on topic. I don't know if this is OK because there's off topic dolls also in the picture: and this one has no DDs in the picture but fashion-wise it fits them so it might be on topic: and this one is a pattern I haven't made in DD size (yet), and showing a picture would be better than saying "Should I make maid cafe type outfits?" with no picture. I'm probably overthinking it Blog ~ Doll Clothes Patterns ~ Facebook ~ Instagram
cfx Posted March 2, 2018 [...] and this one is a pattern I haven't made in DD size (yet), and showing a picture would be better than saying "Should I make maid cafe type outfits?" with no picture. I'm probably overthinking it Yes you should! Maid outfits are a staple of anime and are of course one of the things Volks makes a number of, but as with anything they don't have every style someone might want and being able to make one's own and customize details and such would be great. I don't sew but it's something I've always wanted to learn and have really thought about trying now that I am in this hobby and if I get to that point I'd love to try your patterns, many of which I find very cute. The version of Cold Shoulder with the sleeves with the cutouts is just awesome too.
Guest Posted March 2, 2018 These patterns look amazing! I'd definitely want to see patterns for a maid dress. I may not be very good at sewing, but I'd love to try these out.
Requiem Art Designs Posted March 2, 2018 Muol & cfx, if you want to try sewing for your girls, I recommend Basics 1 & Simply Cute. Basics 1 is a one-piece T shirt and 2-piece pair of pants or shorts and Simply Cute is a 2-piece dress. You can hand sew them very quickly with mostly straight lines. Not quite as simple as "Lesson 1: sew a pillowcase" but pretty close Blog ~ Doll Clothes Patterns ~ Facebook ~ Instagram

Requiem Art Designs Posted March 16, 2018 New pattern up! This works for Sailor Moon Human Luna cosplay or a summer dress with a handkerchief skirt or a full length classic gown. Requiem Art Designs Posted April 8, 2018 Here's the newest in time for cherry blossom viewings: Because DDs and other curvy 1/3 dolls are soooo much curvier than humans, if you get this and open it up it might only vaguely look like a kimono pattern. See, if you go with traditional purely straight cuts, it doesn't work so great on dolls even if you pad them out from the bust to the hip like a human would because the overbust is still a pretty steep angle from the shoulder. This kimono has hidden darts under the arms that should be just covered by your obi or obi sash to help the boobs-up part lie smooth without messing up the flow of the design, and it's tailored through the torso so that if you want to wear it curvy like some anime girls do, that works, but also so that you can wear it classic with a straight cut (in the pic, Mirai wears hers curvy and Melty wears hers classic). The pattern also comes with illustrated dressing instructions to get the kimono to drape just right on different bodies. Nothing too complicated, but I hope very helpful for people who like the style and don't already know the mechanics of kimono Blog ~ Doll Clothes Patterns ~ Facebook ~ Instagram
galatia9 Posted April 22, 2018 I love how you laid out the pattern printed on the fabrics, so their kimono would look the same. These are really beautiful on your girls! I guess it is logical that kimono don't fit the same on dolls as they do on people, because the dolls' "flesh" isn't flexible.
