GothicKDM Posted December 15, 2011 i sold a DD body to a girl, and the PO never scanned it, it showed up a week later and this is what she told me. "Hey i just wanted to let you know she came, however when i opened the box which kinda looked like it went thre hell, her boob part was separate from her Torso, i tried to put it back together but it wouldnt got, and i looked at it, it seems like it cracked, so idk im sure it wasnt you fault but idk much about htis kinda of thing cuz i never had anything in the mail brake but is there anything we can do? im so sorry and im sure nothing you did made this happen and if u like i can send u a photo of the the piece." After talking she said her friend was going to epoxy it, but then said it couldnt be done. I have made my claim to the PO and everything but i was just wondering if something could be done to save the body at all, while we're waiting on the claim http://www.flickr.com/photos/69109169@N03/6515725673/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/69109169@N03/6515725637/ Here are the pictures she provided me. archangeli Posted December 15, 2011 I think baldylox from the forum may be able to help you out with this - or at least help the owner of the doll to repair it. I remember someone else had a problem with a DD that was broken at the spine in this thread. Good luck >__<" Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli
juu-yuki Posted December 15, 2011 I am not familiar with where on the body that is. Is that the spine? If so then I think it can be fixed with super glue. Just make sure there are no missing pieces. I broke the neck joint on my girl before and super glue was strong enough to keep it together. The neck joint had a very small area to work with so that spine shouldn't be a problem. Sorry to hear what happened. I have a girl coming in a few days, maybe tomorrow and I really hope nothing like this happened to her. But hey, if it did than I might be able to try to fix it and give you some tips XD http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com
baldylox Posted December 15, 2011 Hello! This exact same thing happened to my Manami early this year and it WAS easily fixable. The first pic you link to has both of the shaft parts stuck into the upper torso. Both of those need to be pulled out of there and set aside. You may have to use a pair of needle nose pliers. Next, find some of this: http://www.permatex.com/products/automotive/adhesives_sealants/epoxies/Permatex_PermaPoxy_5_Minute_Plastic_Weld.htm I got some at a local auto parts store for about 8 dollars. This stuff is MAGIC! All you have to do is take the two pieces that broke off the bottom half of her and mix up the epoxy to put on the bottom of those two parts. Once you have epoxy on there, sit them down into the place that they came from, seen in the second pic, and hold them in place for about 2 minutes, keeping pressure on them and the base you are epoxying to. Those parts SHOULD have distinct break points so one side will only fit well into the side where it broke off. Check for fitment before you put epoxy on these for an easier fix. Once this is done, mix up more of the epoxy and use a toothpick to apply it all around the base of the two pieces you just epoxied down. This will reinforce the bottom area and make it stronger. Don't skimp on the epoxy here, I globbed it on there and then used the toothpick to smooth it out some. Once the base is covered with epoxy, let it dry for 4-5 hours and DO NOT MESS WITH IT! I wanted to see how it was doing so bad but I didn't touch it for 5 hours to make sure it setup properly. So please, let it dry properly so it's nice and strong. Once this is done, get some fine grit sandpaper, like 600-800 grit and LIGHTLY sand the two pegs coming up from the lower half of the body. ( The parts you just epoxied back on ) This will help in making it a smoother fit to put the top torso back on. Don't sand a whole lot, just enuff to make it smooth there. Now you can put your girl back together and she will be good as new! I have not changed how I pose Manami at all and I have had NO problems with this repair. She still stands like normal and poses exactly how she used to. I hope this info helps out! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. baldylox Posted December 15, 2011 I am not familiar with where on the body that is. Is that the spine? If so then I think it can be fixed with super glue. Just make sure there are no missing pieces. I broke the neck joint on my girl before and super glue was strong enough to keep it together. The neck joint had a very small area to work with so that spine shouldn't be a problem. Super glue will NOT work for this repair, it doesn't have the strength to keep that joint together. This is a major pivot point on the skeleton and has to deal with lots of pressure when you move and pose the doll. The neck joint doesn't take nearly as much pressure when used so that's why Super Glue worked on that one for you. You need a strong epoxy to make this type of repair a permanent fix, like this: http://www.permatex.com/products/automotive/adhesives_sealants/epoxies/Permatex_PermaPoxy_5_Minute_Plastic_Weld.htm THAT stuff will withstand like 3500 pounds of pressure per square inch so no issues holding a DD together. I have used this product on 2 girls of mine now, one with the spinal break and also on my DDS shoulder joints where they are known to crack. Both repairs have given me no issues and are still nice and strong. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
