pscindy_13 Posted March 9, 2018 Hi everyone~ I don't know if it's okay to post this here but I was just wondering what happened to figure.fm? I was gone for half a year and when I came back I find that the pages is "not available" . Did Danny deleted it or did he moved it something else? I'm hoping someone knows what happens thanks~

Eiko82 Posted March 9, 2018 Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I randomly checked it yesterday and was redirected to Danny's site. Living at my place: Rise (DD Rise Kujikawa), Chie (Smart Doll Mirai) and Aisha (Smart Doll Kurenai)
Cauldroness Posted March 9, 2018 Ugh, that's terrible. The database on figure.fm helped me track down so many older dolls, figures, and outfits. Doll Photos & Doll Jewelry Sales: Follow me on Instagram!
Victoria Posted March 9, 2018 Haha, I had the same thoughts a few weeks ago when I randomly checked the site again like every 1-2 years. I couldn't find any info about it when using Google, too. I'm really curious why Danny decided to put it down. Probably the number of ppl who actually used the website has decreased too much? At least about one year ago it seemed almost dead to me. The posts on the main page were one day to a couple of days old (or even weeks? can't really remember. but in certain sections it was even worse) which didn't really encourage me to post a picture or anything else there again. KonekoHigure Posted March 9, 2018 The website was under maintenance for months and then shut down. Don't know why. '^' At home: Ashura (DD Ruri) - Nova (DDS Alice Kuonji)
Gabriel Posted March 9, 2018 What was figure.fm? Was it like mfc, but more skewed towards BJDs and such?
Anna-neko Posted March 9, 2018 (edited) What was figure.fm? Was it like mfc, but more skewed towards BJDs and such? naaaw, it was more like an image board, but when commenting you could highlight specific areas of the photos to aim your comment at! .......... and in last couple years it become one giant spambot city, so really... most of what we lost were the good older posts & stories (RIP my 'cheese trap' Saber stairwell adventure photostory) Edited March 9, 2018 by Guest
cfx Posted March 9, 2018 I don't think I ever visited since I have only been in this hobby ~6 months and was only first interested a couple of years ago. But reading through old stuff on this forum too often I've run into links for some how-to article that is a link to figure.fm and of course the links are broken and the info is lost. LadyAoi Posted March 10, 2018 I was thrown off when I checked like...1 or so weeks ago, but I never frequented it much at all, so I don't feel sad. Except, it was a blessing I bought a Ms.Mariko some months back at $550. That was the last time I checked the site, too, random listing with a guy selling all of his dolls
baldylox Posted March 10, 2018 Figurefm was NOT taken down by Danny. I asked him about this a few months ago because that site is where I got my start in the DD hobby. Danny said that they had some type of DNS or DDS attack and the way it was done caused his host to basically shut it off before he could get it taken care of. He also said that he was going to work on getting it back up and running but this was at least 4 months ago when we talked and nothing has been done since. I really don't think it's a priority for him so it may never come back online. And if that's so, it's a huge loss for a lot of people. The classifieds there were amazing, the search engine would show you some truly awesome stuff and all of my original photostories ( along with many many other old school collectors ) were all archived there. So if Figurefm doesn't come back, all those wonderful photos, stories and information will be lost forever. Billy 1 I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. pscindy_13 Posted March 10, 2018 I wish there was a way that we can tell Danny how much we love and miss that page especially show him how important it is for us. I can't speak much about the other options in that page but at least the one where we can post our photo stories, sell items, and "adopt". I do hope as well that he returns this page back I have so much memories and photo stories saved in there that It's upsetting to know it would be lost forever without warning without chance to save them. Victoria Posted March 10, 2018 It's even more sad that he hasn't mentioned it anywhere on his other page. I'm sure a lot of people want to know what happened. I highly doubt the page will go up online again since I'm still of the opinion that figure.fm was kinda dead the past years compared to its "golden age". It was a good site to check-up old photo stories and box openings but that's it.
Tasuke Posted March 10, 2018 i was an FFM regular for years, even found a couple of my girls thanks to the site. i do miss it dearly...
sinclair Posted March 10, 2018 It's always sad when a site you frequent dries up, but from what people have been saying they did there, you could also do here [Adopt, photo stories]. I never joined FFM as I only discovered it a few months before it went down, so I'll admit I don't have the same attachment to it as some other have. But it is sad to lose that much information. But I'd say step it up around here and make this site greater.
baldylox Posted March 11, 2018 Figure.fm was basically the DD Forums before they were the forums. Everyone that was there made the move here when things were slowing down over there. FFM started as a place for figure collectors to buy and sell and share pics of their figures and similar hobbies. I found it when I was looking for anime figure sales. I also used it for buying used anime DVD's. That's how I met my buddy AsianEd, I bought DVD's from him and then found out later he had dolls. It was also where I found out about DD's and adopted Manami. I have to get in touch with Danny about something else anyway so when I do, I'll ask him about this again and see if he has any plans for it or not. I'm hoping he does and all that info isn't lost. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

That would be great if you can thanks~ I mean I like this page very much but it's not the same as posting on figure.fm. it's way more user friendly then this one when it comes to posting photo storys :/
Poofiemus Posted March 11, 2018 Hell, at this point, if I could at least download my old posts, even sans-comments, I'd take it. That's where all my earliest posts of Agatha were. ;_; 1 In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.

All my original stories are there and there's YEARS of them! I still have those pics on my computer but if I tried to recall all the writing to go with those, I'd be at a loss for the most part. DefectiveAngel Posted March 14, 2018 That really is a big bummer to think about how that information is just lost now. That's where I posted my pictures of getting my very first girl. I regrettably never bothered to host those pictures on Flickr and paired with some computer trouble I don't know if I'll ever see those photos again which makes very sad. And yes as hard as it is to believe I am one of those old school collectors as well. I remember at the time going on figure.fm to look at all these gorgeous pictures of Yuki Morikawa. That actually helped inspire me to pursue getting in the dollfie dream hobby. Plus like many others helped my DD family grow. I found my 3rd girl Sara (custom 03 head) and my 5th girl Rina Oagata on there as well. Plus I'll never forget going through the photo stories baldylox would post and going crazy commenting on things in each picture...lol!! Man that was a really fun feature. Too bad that can't be added to this site.
scripple Posted March 14, 2018 As others have said FFM was slow long before it disappeared. Photo story sections on all the forums I know of are very slow compared to the top days for DDs on FFM. It's just not an especially popular part of the hobby. A bummer for me as it's the part I enjoy most. I agree the image note feature was cool. When I created an archive site for my stories it was one of the first features I added. That feature still exists in my current forum as well. Unfortunately it does nothing to counter the general loss of interest in photo stories. Check out my new DollFun website. Share your own doll photos with free image hosting. Anna-neko Posted March 15, 2018 It wasn't just figure that went off, it also took Doll.fm with it ...unless it went away first and I only noticed recently? It had some good dolls japanese blog posts ^^; Will miss all those cute photos
K-2 Posted March 15, 2018 Another doll forum that recently met its demise was the Junky Spot forum operated by the doll store of the same name. About 4-5 years ago Junky Spot opened a Facebook page and traffic at their forum almost over night slowed to a crawl. Within a year the place had become a ghost town. After hardly a single post in several years, about two weeks ago the forum went offline. Another vinyl friendly forum run by the Obitsu retailer Parabox also sucbleepbed to Facebook several years back. I wonder if this is a net-wide trend, activity on traditional forums declining in favor of the more immediate forms of social media?
scripple Posted March 15, 2018 It certainly is. Just go to any of the support forums for the various major forum software and you'll see plenty of discussion about forums having no place today, can't compete with social media, etc. There are even "forums" moving to the social media model of no categories, newest on top, anything more than a day or two old may as well not exist, etc. Check out my new DollFun website.
