kinkachou Posted March 12, 2018 A little while back, Ie-Aster and I met up briefly to chat, have tea and pastries, and of course play with dolls I had just gotten my Alice's Collections stands in the mail (having ordered them after seeing many, many pictures of them holding up DDs in the air without any difficulty) a few days prior, and we both figured we might as well give them a try so we could see what all of the (very justified) fuss was about. Since the weather was pretty balmy for a winter afternoon, we took things outside for a bit while testing the stands Hitomi is my cyclops girl, and she's very into photography. She was so excited at the prospect of having some tools that would make taking pictures of dynamic poses easier! Here she is trying to flag down Mei to see if she'll be her guinea pig willing participant in testing this equipment: Mei agreed to help, and Hitomi waisted no time getting her up in the air-- every second counts when you're trying to get the shot just right!! Don't move a muscle, Mei! Hitomi makes sure that all of the settings on her camera are just as she likes, and that the screen isn't smudged or dirty-- Hitomi only has one eye, and so she can't close one to look through that tiny viewfinder, unfortunately, so she has to rely on the screen. Then, she looks up at Mei and starts to raise her camera in order to have all components of the shot in proper alignment. Okay, Mei, do your thing!! Let me get your good side(s) Mei was a very good sport throughout the entire process, even when a strong wind toppled her over-- stand and all. Luckily she wasn't hurt, and after recovering briefly, retreated inside to warm up a tad with Eevee. Hitomi, on the other hand, wasn't quite ready to be done taking pictures. After all, there was lots around her to see! She takes out her trusty cellphone-- much less bulky than her camera-- and gets to snapping. What's that in the trees? Oh, I can't find it, it's zoomed in so much that everything's wobbling. Looking at the branches like this is making me dizzy... She finds a tree to rest against for a bit, until her head clears. Nature can be so overwhelming through a lens (I don't mean the ocular kind, though ). Maybe... I'll come back to this place every once in a while, she thinks with a happy little sigh. Black lives matter.
Monty Posted March 12, 2018 I love this! I'm glad everyone is having so much fun with these stands. The energetic pose with Mei's solemn face is really cute too. In the last pic, I know it's a small tree but she actually looks life-sized! *twitter*instagram*art*
kinkachou Posted March 12, 2018 Thank you, Torino! I'm super happy with them, I just try to be very careful when bending them because I've heard of other people cracking the base while trying to adjust the wiring. I ended up getting 3 of them and need to try using them all in a scene at once; it'd be nice to practice editing them out, too. It was super fun to set Mei up, and because her body is an Obitsu rather than a DD body, the stand held her effortlessly. Thank you! I usually have problems getting my girls to look as if they're life sized and because of that I usually don't bother, but I'm happy to have achieved that effect this time! Black lives matter. Anna-neko Posted March 12, 2018 heck yeah bouncy poses with stands!! Mei's jump reminds me of that one Beatles photo ^___^ In the fall when there's lots of leaves around you can sometimes 'bury' the base in the fallen leaves for both added weight and seamless/standless look
Ie-Aster Posted March 14, 2018 These came out great! It's nice to see them on the big screen. As always, your posing is on point and super expressive. And Hitomi is really beautiful Mei definitely enjoyed being a model! At home: Mei (DDP Lucy custom), Aku (DDB Takane custom) En route: L. (DD Matoi)
jaderose Posted May 29, 2018 I love their photoshoot, and the story behind it! It's really cute to see dolls doing everyday human things, especially photography. But mainly oh my god I love Hitomi so much; she's charming! I've seen a fair amount of monster girl dolls, and she's my favourite so far. The cyclops mod on her is amazing, and her hair and outfit are so sweet. I absolutely adore her. The post above this signature was probably TLDR, and I am very sorry. kinkachou Posted June 10, 2018 Chise, do you mean the "Hard Day's Night" one? Funny you should mention that, because for a brief period of time I was thinking of recreating famous album covers using my girls, and Abbey Road was one of the covers I had in mind... In one of the last pics I tried to hind the base behind the tree a little. I'm still learning their limits, but I should get a good idea of how to use them better soon Ie-Aster -- I feel like everything I post here gets a little "eaten" when it's resized, but I'm glad you still like them! Mei was a perfect model and as always, all of my girls love having her over to visit jaderose, I love the ordinary and mundane. Sometimes I feel like it's almost the most challenging sort of thing to set up and pull off in a believable manner, but I like a challenge. Thank you so much for your compliments on Hitomi, I'm so glad you like her! I was inspired by a wonderful Obitsu cyclops mod that I had seen on tumblr (originally made by user geishacookie on this forum). I don't think I would have had the gumption to do the mod in the first place had I not seen her work before; it was the most ambitious one I had done at that point and I was definitely nervous about messing it up. Hitomi also wouldn't have been able to really come to life without the beautiful custom eye eblkitty made for her. I'll try to have her make more appearances around here soon Black lives matter.
