Smartdoll Vs MDD

Recommended Posts

[Smartdoll]

I’ve been torn between a smartdoll or a custom mini dollfie dream. I have compared the size, price, clothes, etc. but I still can not figure out which would be better. If anyone has any comparisons or which you prefer please help!

I guess it would depend on what character you want to make, since you're between an SmD and MDD, and not a DD (/DDS/DDdy). If you want a younger character, MDD is the way to go. If you want a more mature girl, SmD is the way to go. I would personally prefer the MDD because I like the Volks heads better, but that's just my personal opinion.

Whenever I see an "X vs. Y" title, I immediately picture a boxing ring with the spot lit MC speaking into the hanging microphone, "And in this corner..."

Anyway, a Smart Doll and an MDD though similar are quite different as pointed out by Shailara. Perhaps a more realistic question is, "Which should I get first?" There's no denying, these dolls are expensive and very few doll collectors have just one. Money is tight for most of us and we can't run out and get every doll we like, so which one do you want first?

If this is your first big doll, perhaps it would be better to get a completed character doll, rather than going though the sometimes long and complicated task of developing and building a custom doll. A completed character doll, such as a Smart Doll would be an excellent introduction to these big dolls and would allow you to learn about them. Jumping right in with a custom doll can be frustrating and difficult, especially trying to learn about all the different ways a doll can be customized. My first doll was a custom and it took well over 5 years to discover and develop the exact look I was after. In the end I probably spent 3 to 4 time the cost of a completed character doll (like a Smart Doll) building my first custom.

Thanks you for the help! I did decide I’ll be getting a smartdoll. I really like Summer (milk skin tone) and Infinity. Thank you again!
