Coffee Posted December 15, 2011 It actually looks quite fun to put it together yourself. But from what I've heard, it's supposed to cost more, right? It should cost less if you have to assemble it yourself! Otherwise I'd definitely consider buying the pieces unassembled. As long as it is sold as a pack and not individually. mitsuki Posted December 15, 2011 DDS Body: It costs $320.00 + $22.00 (pair of hands) = $342.00 (not including tax and shipping). Yes, the cost of putting together a DDS body using the parts is $342. A standard DDII whole body is $231. DDS bodies on the second market have been listed at $400 to $700, so it is at least cheaper to get the parts and build one. The other alternative is to split a limited DDS character.
Halcyon Posted December 15, 2011 This is an awesome mini-guide, Mitsuki! I bet you had fun assembling the DDS body. I know I would! I'm back at work on the conceptual guide; fall semester just ended for me. Now I have plenty of free time to write about my most loved hobby~! baldylox Posted December 16, 2011 WOW! I never expected you to go this far and assemble a DDS out of parts! Excellent pictorial Mitsuki! Very well photographed and laid out. And Shirayuki is ADORABLE!! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

PlasticFantastic Posted December 18, 2011 When I first saw all the parts get listed I checked out every one and noticed that the internal frame was included with the pieces. I instantly thought "OH! I can BUILD one of my own!" I can now live vicariously through you. Especially since my wallet is hurting from the $440 I spent on getting Akira's DDS body - but in the same breath it comes with the s-bust, which isn't out yet with VOLKS USA. Plus I got Akira's box! haha! Very nicely done, as always! Please visit my YouTube channel for helpful DD tips, tutorials, and reviews!
mitsuki Posted December 18, 2011 I totally agree. I think Akira's adorable s-bust DDS body is worth it!

archangeli Posted December 24, 2011 I was asked by one of my friends to try a L-bust on the DDS body to see if it would fit. Since Mariko-sensei is a DDS with L-shapely bust, and to my current knowledge Volks has only ever made one mold type of that bust (i.e. Beatrice DDII & as an option part) I was pretty sure that it would work - and I was right! So - here are a few pictures! Just so you know I'm not cheating, here's Akira next to Mélisande (Yukino, DDII body) to compare the scale The L-bust fits seamlessly and there are no weird gaps where the bust piece meets the torso, which is one of the complaints of the DD3 body. It's a perfect fit! Here's how it fits in the back - again, perfect fit! Here's how she looks with some clothes on And just in case you're wondering, YES, the M-bust fits perfectly too. ^__~" Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli
baldylox Posted December 24, 2011 Hmm.... the newer DDS bodies must be different because when I tried on an L-bust on Mamimi ( a Marisa DDS body ) it had LARGE gaps in the shoulder areas. The bottom part was fine, just like you showed in your pics. But I didn't see how yours fits on the shoulder areas. I can't seem to find my post here where i showed this on Mamimi. Maybe Mitsuki can find it as she's good at that sort of stuff. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
archangeli Posted December 24, 2011 Hmmm - how curious o_0" Well this is (obviously) Akira's body, which is the latest incarnation of the DDS, right? Here's another shot of the M-bust on Akira. The arm joint is quite flush to the bust piece. Where were the gaps you mentioned - armpit, or top of shoulder? I might repeat this experiment again later after the holidays when I have more time, and this time pay attention to the armholes a bit more! baldylox Posted December 24, 2011 Well, since I couldn't find that post I made, I just reloaded the pics to Flickr and will post them here. I have a few pics of Mamimi doing various poses with the L-bust on.... Here she is lounging: And here she is seated: And now for the closeups of the gaps I mentioned: As you can see, there are big gaps here. And yes, it does look like the arm peg isn't pushed all the way into the shoulder joint inside the body. This was just before I pushed them back in farther and BOTH of those shoulder supports cracked on me. I was so mad at what I had done. But using some plastic weld epoxy, I repaired her until I could get a new piece from Volks. I'm thinking that on these first series bodies, the holes where the pegs go in for the arms were shorter than the newer ones, hence the gaps you see. I did not have these gaps when I tried out an M-bust on her, that one fit just fine. And just so people can see the differences in the DDS arm pegs and upper torsos, here are some pics: Arms, DDS on top, DDII on bottom. Please note how much longer the pegs are on the DDII arms and also how much thicker they are. Here are the torso parts, DDII on the left and DDS on the right: BIG differences here. I need to get the new replacement DDS torso piece out and take pics of it compared to the older DDS piece and see if there have been improvements on it. I sure hope there have been. Anyways, those photos above were taken on June 7th of 2011. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
Nightmare Tea Posted January 1, 2012 This is interesting! Thanks for posting these! It's nice to know that the L bust can fit a newer DDS, since I might want a more busty girl in the future!
SisterKyoya Posted February 8, 2012 So does that mean that the DDII S bust would fit on the DDS body? If so, I have a use for that... ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Nightmare Tea Posted February 8, 2012 So does that mean that the DDII S bust would fit on the DDS body? If so, I have a use for that... ~Sister Kyoya Yes, it will fit. Since you have the separate parts, that are newer, it will go just fine. The problems were with the first DDS bodies that came with DDS Marisa and DDS Reimu. Since those ones were pretty much prototype, they have quite a bit of problems, and the newer ones seemed to have fixed a lot of them.
SisterKyoya Posted February 8, 2012 I'm so glad to hear that they will work just fine. My husband and I couldn't figure out why they only had on size bust for the DDS on the Volks site, nor do they mention anything about being able to use the DD sizes. Now I can make plans for another boy. misskale Posted February 8, 2012 I actually bought a DDS s-bust (cannibalized from one of the image character dolls) from eBay. It is clearly smaller than an m-bust but they're also still definitely breasts. Is the DDII s-bust flatter than that?
