Fantasy Parts / Monster Girls

I suppose this may be a bit of a weird topic, but I’ve always been curious as to if other DD collectors were interested in this sorta thing! Recently I’d gotten back into MGE (Monster Girl Encyclopedia) and I was wondering if anyone else would love to see things like third party fantasy parts (paws/oversized claws, tails, spider bodies, and the like if somehow possible), or just generally share their monster girls!

A few days ago I stumbled onto the work of some faceup artist who did things like cut multiple extra eye holes into heads and such. I didn't save the link though and quickly exited the page because it terrified me too much!

 

(I'm someone who can't deal with horror movies and gore and stuff.)

I am very interested in monster parts. I'd love a 1/3 spider body, articulated mermaid tail, and plenty of horn/tail options. Also a 1/3 centaur body. Luts does 1/4 (and smaller) one sometimes. I've also seen a 3D printed spider which was like 1/4 or 1/5ish type size, but I basically just want lower body parts a DD torso could go on.

 

I had an artist on Etsy make horns and mermaid headfins for two of my girls, but there are plenty of proper monster girls I'd love to make with the correctly scaled bodies.

Believe me, I know it’s not for everyone! I think I know what head you’re talking about though- I follow the artist. I just love monster girls waaaaay too much

Admittedly I thought a lot about the mechanics and how that sorta thing may work- though it may just be beyond my skill level lol. If I ever Leveled Up in that department, I’m totally with you- I’d have to give it a shot then

Some of those are for sure not for me. About the only thing that is for me is cat girls. I know Volks has done cat ear head bands and cat tail bloomers, but that's not quite the same, or what I want.

I am a huge fan of monster boys and girls and every day I dream about fantasy vinyl options. A vinyl centaur is like..my dream doll. I like resins too, but they’re heavy enough as is and a resin centaur would just be so damn much resin. (Hence why I had to compromise with a teenie gem centaur...) Since it cost less to make than vinyl and so it’s easier to justify smaller batches, resin doll artists have a lot more freedom to experiment with unique parts, whereas with vinyl it would be risk to make anything new because you need to be 100% sure you’d be able to sell the much higher volume that would be made per batch.

I was going to say that the general lack of freedom for experimentation makes me wonder about hybrid parts- resin, 3D printed stuff and the like- so this was really interesting to see! I suppose the hardest part of those materials would be making them work with the frame, though... I’m loving those claws omg

galatia9, Thank you for the shout out!! kakulolita, I plan on putting pics of all of them in one thread soon. There are some mods that aren't quite finished and I was holding off on posting them until they were, but at this point I feel like it's better to get their characters out there a bit and work on the details later. There is a thread with my other major mod (my cyclops/hitotsume-kozo girl, Hitomi) here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16971 . Other girls currently in the works include my ten-no-me and futakuchi-onna (all my girls are yokai)

I wish monster parts were more readily available. I like the challenge of doing things myself, but sometimes I feel like it'd be really nice to have things specifically, professionally made for the DD body (like said paws). Fumbling around and trying to get things the way I want them can be frustrating and I can end up wasting materials or getting ones that I actually don't need.

That name didn't sound familiar, but I searched and found their flickr. That's not what I saw though it's a similar idea. Looks like they specialize in doing just this type of faceup. Whoever I saw was a link I followed because they had done a very pretty normal style faceup and wanted to see their work and then found all the weird stuff. The head I saw had, I believe, 4 extra eyes, much smaller than the original two.

 

I didn't save the info when I found it because I didn't want to look at it again.

 

Edit: I spent a bit of time going through browsing history, and you were right after all. I hadn't seen that flickr but had visited their instagram, and the pictures I saw before were there. And with that I hope I never see them again. I have too many nightmares as it is...

Her claws/wings/ears pop up time to time it’s not that hard to find.

The joints are same as regular bjds connected by elastic.

I know Koalakrash_dolls on instagram does extreme head mods, but no body mods that I've seen sadly. I also would like a monster girl! For me at least, I recently marathoned Interviews with Monster Girls and the Dullahan girl is my fave, so all I'd need to do is pop off her head haha

I actually considered this. Macchi was my favourite girl in that manga/anime, and I pondered the idea of making a doll of her... it would be fairly easy to pull her head off for her to hold in her hands (or maybe get that harness she uses sometimes to keep it to her chest) and simply make some sort of flame-like 'hat' for her neck. Perhaps cellophane would do, but I'm not sure; it is quite likely to stain, as the dye comes out of it even with slight moisture, so I'd have to consider various materials.

 

Probably even take the neck peg off the frame, though that may make for some instability. I noticed with soft busts the necks get floppy, so removing the peg may also introduce some wobble.

I'd love to see monster girl DDs with bodymods.. If I had the ambition I'd love to make a harpy, maybe even a characterdoll of something like Garuda from FFXIV. Her arms and legs would be fun, and lots of general featherwork.

I agree; planning things is super fun. I'm not physically capable of any such crafts any more but I enjoy discussing possibilities. I have considered many girls with unusual parts which would take some effort. eg Touhou's Okuu. She has an arm cannon, and I was thinking it'd be pretty easy to just take off a hand, and make a hexagonal wooden barrel to fix over the forearm. Not so sure about her leg/foot, though.

 

I started reading "A Centaur's Life" a few years ago, long before the anime was announced, and fell in love with Hime. I'd love to do a doll of her, but centaur bodies are just too rare. Some resins, but they're tiny and wouldn't suit DD heads. Also I'd need to find a local seamstress for outfitting her since it'd be nigh impossible to find someone online with one of the bodies.

 

Seen some people here (and on 'our' Discord) who have done some monster type body mods, which I follow keenly. But mostly I am just stuck thinking about how I'd do this that or the other.
