I'm completely safe. There is nothing that interests me.

Looking at the twitter scans again I see one clothing item I want--the top hat!

That couch is pretty nice....? That's all I got really. Luka doesn't attract really and the SD look a lot like the new standard releases which I didn't really love so I'm safe.

I'm actually kinda glad they're doing Ranka and Sheryl again...? I wasn't so invested when they came out the first time around and then saw them in someone's video on youtube. I watched Macross frontier when it first came out so I suuuuper want a Ranka, especially if she's still coming with her maid outfit!

I like the Easter boy's suits and might snag them, it's hard to find stuff for the guys that doesn't stain and unicorn boys is totally my jam. The SD releases are interesting - I can't find any information about Galerie de l'esprit, is this a new Volks series/original story? Or just an obscure new steampunk brand? Either way I would love to steal those outfits for my gang.

 

The Macross re-releases are a bit of a bummer, did anyone really ask for this? It'd make more sense to put them out together with a couple new outfits, or instead to bring back the Vocaloids with Luka. Once again Volks business decisions are a bit mystifying.

I can't find any information about Galerie de l'esprit, is this a new Volks series/original story? Or just an obscure new steampunk brand?

 

Not much there right now, but : http://www.galeriedelesprit.com/ is their website. I can't find other corroborating information about them online (from either dress owners or company advertising), so I'm guessing they may be a new brand. In any case Volks is marketing those SDGrs as part of the Harajuku Memories line, in the same way that Alice and the Pirates or BTSSB collaborations are marketed, which suggests that Galerie de L'esprit is indeed a fashion brand.

I also kinda want the top hat but I’m annoyed that it’s sold as a set with some bunny ears and so it costs more. :I If I wanted the bunny ears I’d buy the ones they’re also selling separate. I have no idea why they’re selling them on their own AND with the hat. It’s kinda like how they sold the Santa hat with the sack, which I didn’t want, which made it cost more than I wanted to pay for a hat. They sell socks and scarves on their own, why not hats? D:

(Come to think of it I’d love to see a lot more hats from volks in general...)

Edit: apparently there’s an error in this volks news but it doesn’t say what it is. I just thought I’d mention it in case there’s other VIPs here.

I don’t know if it affects anyone other than VIP members because it mentions that VIP members will be contacted about the change in the next few days (I haven’t heard anything yet). It could possibly be related to the birthday rings for dollfie a that are going to be gifted to VIP members as a thank you (getting one requires a ticket that comes with volks news), so...I hope the change isn’t the part about them being free 8’D but hopefully it’s nothing too major. (If it’s a price or sizing change for clothes, I would have expected they’d just post that on twitter instead of having to contact VIPs directly.

I had all those same thoughts, and the same experience with the Santa hat (which I did buy). I just didn't gripe about those ears since it seems like I'm always bitching about something.

 

My main gripe I think though is those nice black sandals one of the SD girls is wearing showing a dress that's being released, because those shoes aren't part of this release it seems and I want them.

Volks does that a lot too with the shoes they pose with outfits. Makes me realize that we guys shouldn't give girls a hard time about all the shoes they own. They really do need all of them.

I couldn't turn up any more details about them either, but looks like their website is registered by Volks Inc on 2018-04-02. So it's pretty new! Now I'm wondering if Volks is getting into the (human) clothing business for this line.

I want her too; this just wasn't as exciting to me as it could be since she's available aftermarket without the kind of markup of other dolls I'd like to be rereleased. Still I'll try for this lottery and it is some savings over the Mandarake price so woohoo anyway.

 

Just still wish we got different extra outfits this time; maybe they'll still do that though.

More information available. It looks like they'll be at the May 5th Dolls Party, and then available May 27th online and in stores.

Ahh I haven't seen her in person, but she looks beautiful in the photos, so I can imagine she'll only look better in person.

I've already got Ranka's pink bonus outfit (Raspberry Candy, I think it was called?), but if they rerelease the others I might finally get the orange one and Sheryl's date outfit.

According to the magazine scans they're rereleasing those.

It will probably take another week. The first people to get access to Volks news are the VIPs who get it delivered and pay an annual fee for that privilege among other perks (like me) which is where the leaks usually come from, and then the week after the non-paying members can pick up their free copies (they need to get them from the store as opposed to having it home delivered) and then shortly after that it’s available for general purchase for non members. Last volks news digital was up in 2 weeks.

So I'm assuming this is just a weird pic, but the purple haired D'Coord girl looked a lot darker than Volks tan usually does.

If you mean the tan DDH11, that's much more like how they look IRL. I noticed this issue has better photos of the tan girls than what I usually see which makes them look too light. (I thought some of the pics of the lottery D'Coords for Kyoto Dolpa last month were also pretty accurate) There's another pic that I'm not sure is in the leaks yet of one done up like a kogal sitting on the school desk that also looks closer to how they are IRL too.

It's unfortunate that they're hard to photograph cos its led to a whole lot of people assuming they're barely lighter than NS - I thought that myself until I saw one in person and decided to get one. Even just the lighting in the room can affect this though - harsh fluorescent light washes Bri's colour out a bit too. (like the pic in my sig, which I've been meaning to change the pics in once Mel's face is redone)

In theory you can use color checkers as a part of your studio shoot to make color matches in post process easier, but accurate may not always look nice when other conditions in the image are taken into account.

I have Kanu and she's really not that much darker. In person it's there, but if I just looked at her on her own I wouldn't even think of her as tan haha. I mean yes in comparison she is but it's just not that dark.

It is difficult to photograph I agree. I play with the color to bring it out more as well.

That girl looked like...actually tan.

Even in Mitsuki's comparison pics the new tan doesn't look as dark as that pic.

Then comparing the new tan to Kanu they look about the same level of tan, just a different tone.

Of course I haven't seen them in person yet so I'll take your word for it.

Kogals are usually pretty tan though right?

Sure would be nice to see Volks put out a darker tan.
