Yuki through the glass

Recommended Posts

The other day I had some free time... and when the right light finally hit, I took my Yuki out of her dusty corner (poor girl, I don't really remember the last time I made a nice photoshoot!) to make her shine as she deserves.

The really nice and colorful glass effect on the foreground is given by the bags of my dog's mats reflecting on my window's glass! aha

Super little Photoshop is added to these pics, just for light colour and light correction Yuki doesn't need any retouch to her beauty! (Lucky her! LOL)

The t-shirt is from her optional set, the eyes are from a Korean brand (Kitsune, fancy helping me to remember the name, maybe?), the wig is Towa's, and the skirt (which you can see properly in the following post in this thread) is a nice gift from Sinclair and his pretty Yaya.

I heard that Yuki has quite of a soft spot for Yaya, but these are just rumors that I can't confirm nor deny

She is totally rocking that skirt. One correction, it's from Yumi, although Yaya did help make it as she was the model and test fitter. Judging by a letter Yaya got, it may not be best to tell Yuki that Yaya was the last one to wear that skirt. ;D

Very nice picutres and she looks really good with that wig.

Yuki is always so pretty. If she happens to be rereleased from the poll, I will no doubt be forced to get her.

That skirt is really nice and also different with that type of herrringbone plaid which is something I haven't really seen in DD clothing. Volks has a lot of plaids but they're all the same tartan type and usually that same red.

I don't know what letter you are talking about: maybe I should ask Yuki about it??

Thanks! I agree that she really looks very nice with that wig, although it is a colour I don't usually like. The skirt is so cute, as well! I am really happy that Sinclair and his Yumi were my prtners in the Valentine's swap!

As for Yuki as a doll itself, I agree she is a very pretty lady. She is still one of my faves, but on the other hand I admit that imo she is one of those super photogenic dolls: when I finally got her I had the impression that in person she had a little less "shine" than I expected from seeing her just in pictures.

That's because I made it. My wife happen to have a scrap in her collection that had black and pink, and it was just the right size to square up and try my hand at sewing. That's the 1st thing I've made. I'm just so glad it came out so well.

It is super cute indeed! I must add it was a little tricky to match with the other things I owned already (due to the fabric thickness, and the vivid colours), but once I found the right things, everything else went just smoothly! And Yuki seems to like it particularly much! Ahah

I guess that isn't too surprising since she's from 2010, a pretty long time ago in DD terms and a time when the dolls seemed to be in transition from simpler more crude faceups to the current types. Yuki is so pretty but I can guess maybe she is just a little plain in person due to that?

I gathered that from the thread, and that's one of the great things about being able to sew things is to make different stuff than what you can buy. After I get my vision sorted where I can see well enough to try I hope I can learn to sew.

The dreamlike, almost unearthly effect of the reflections looks very cool. I also like how perfectly her skirt coordinates with the flowers--the way they seem to flow together in one of the shots also adds to the dreamlike mood.

At home: Mei (DDP Lucy custom), Aku (DDB Takane custom)

En route: L. (DD Matoi)

You might be right, I haven't really thought about that before...

But I still slightly disagree: although it is not my style of molds/faceup, I personally find Rina Ogata, released at the same time, more particular and vibrant... same story for Kan'u, Mai, or Sakura Matou.. just to mention a bunch of even older molds.

This said, I am definitely not depreciating Yuki, which was and is one of my faves, it was just a side note about how I found her a little bit like an instagram model, you know: super hot in pictures, but (sometimes) a bit less appealing in person.

Thank you! I really appreciate your kind words.

I was lucky my mom got those flowers right on the day when I decided to make the photoshoot.

Thank you! I really like the eyes and wig combo, too.

These eyes are a bit tricky, do to their size and shape, to fit in my other heads.. but Yuki was just the right match!

I love the Yuki sculpt, and wow, your customization of her is on point! I love the bright colors- she still has an air of softness about her, but it really makes the whole thing 'pop'. Gorgeous!

With the disclaimer I haven't seen any of the above in person, or any Volks faceup actually, yet, I find it interesting you also mention Rina Ogata and Sakura Matou, because those two along with Yuki I've always thought of together as having a similar look and style, and I really like all three of them. WIth different wigs and eyes I've confused them before looking at user pictures.
