samseramsamsam Posted May 6, 2018 So, I do not have the necessary impulse control. Monkey see, monkey want... I was researching for a Smart Doll and nearly ordered for too much money (customs, VAT, and of course clothes! ALL THE CLOTHES.) in Japan. But then I stalked on ebay and found one I liked, but did not find on the Smart Doll site. Turned out, she is a retired girl, Smart Doll Twilight in tea skin. Got an agreement with the seller and she arrived fast She came with the normal S-bust and additionally with the "Gazonkas" (L-bust). However. The seller did not mention that they were smokers And the doll had staining on her shin and foot. Of course I was disappointed, but not enough to open a paypal claim (seller did not agree to a partial refund), because I wanted to keep her, pretty she is So, the torture began Vodka, magic eraser = stain removal from shin, though not from foot... Vodka + cotton pads = smell improvement. The smell is nearly gone, only noticeable if you really take the doll to your nose and sniff the vinyl. She can wear many SD clothes, though some not with the "Gazonkas", I changed her to the S-bust for the T-shirts. (Even my mom contributed - the shawl was a swatch I "stole" for the doll ) The telescope stand is an intersting design, but impracticle if you like dresses or longer sweaters on your doll. Compared to resin, she is quite light, as all vinyl dolls She is a solid poser, even though on that count the Obitsus are still unbeaten. However, easier to disassemble than Obitsus for clothing and bust swap. I do not own a Dollfie dream body (only head), and though of course the SmartDoll is prettier than the Obitsu bodies - I do still think the price quite high for a vinyl doll. (Part of the problem is customs and VAT for us in Europe, but still also the original price is quite steep. For the clothes, too. The wigs are good quality, so I cannot say that they are overpriced, bust still definitely in the higher section.) All in all, I will most likely only buy a Smart Doll directly from Japan if the injection molded version will be released some time this decade and be about the price of the Obitsus (I am just very curious to see this version)
galatia9 Posted May 7, 2018 Congratulations on getting your girl! She looks very sweet, and I love her in the pink!! I hope you got a good price! The stains look very minor, and don't cover a lot of area. Hopefully the smoke smell will air out completely. I've put baking soda in a large plastic box, laid down paper towels and put the doll on it, then closed the box, and the baking soda absorbed a lot of the smell. Panda_Dolliess Posted May 7, 2018 Good thing you got Twilight when you did, even if she was used. Danny had announced on Twitter that he has no plans to sell her again so she's only going to get more expensive on the second hand market.

Linda S. galatia9 Thank you, and thanks for the tip, if the smell gets worse again, I'll try that, I already bought soda The smell is very nearly gone, now she has a kind of very faint "cigar case bouquet" which I think quite nice, actually, barely there but with a hint of memories of childhood I am just happy that I could get rid of the worst stain on her lower leg! Good thing you got Twilight when you did, even if she was used. Danny had announced on Twitter that he has no plans to sell her again so she's only going to get more expensive on the second hand market. Currently, I, too, have no plans to sell her again, but who knows what the future holds I did not know they could get more expensive, if I ever plan to sell her, I'll make sure to do a little "market research" on beforehand. At very first, I was a bit sad that I did not decide to get a Mirai (which my smoker also sold), but now, I think my girl is more unique
cirquemom Posted May 8, 2018 Congratulations! She's lovely! I have Moonlight, which is the cocoa version of this sculpt. As far as the smell goes- YOU drink the vodka, then you won't notice it as much. I agree with you about Obitsu bodies- nothing beats them in how they pose, although the Smart Doll bodies are prettier. Enjoy your new girl- there's a nice facebook group- very friendly and positive- let me know if you'd like to join and I'll send you an invite.
