fenrir z78 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) Makeing the Simple Dress This is the Simple dress for DD that Jadepixel came up with. This is how I made the dress. It may not be the right way but it works for me. First things first. Got to getthe things I need to start makeing the dress. Most people that sew know why I have so many scissors. The blue is only for cuting paper. ( I have 15 sets to cut deffrent types of paper) THe orange sets are for cuting cloth only. ( One time my mom took a pair of my cloth scissors and cut some paper in half. I made her goto the store and buy a new set. That is how I am about my tools) Next I cut the pattern out and label the parts. next fold it in half ( good side to good side) and trace the pattern. Ok now that I have all the parts its time to get some help. Me: Emily can you help me make this new dress. Emily: Sure thing. Emily: Here Emil is this the fist pair you are going to sew. Me: Yes it is thank you. I put the to parts together ( good to good) I put the dress front on top and start at the bottom and work my way up. makeing the edges line up. Emily: Here Emil this is the last part of the dress. Me: Thanks. ok just repeat like the other side. This is before it got hemed up. This is the after heming. Ok time for the top. It is the same as the dress. Here is where I strarted to sew. Here is the turn to make the edges mach. It came out like this. Time for the bust part. Ok time or a test fit. Emily: Do I have to. Me: If you dont mind. Emily: Ok. Ok I see what I need to do. Hold on a sec. Me: Hows that. Emily: Its a little snug in the wast. Me: It could be those cookies you keep sneaking. Emily: It is not! Can you fix it plz. Me: ok I am just picking. Me: Hows that. Emily: much better. Me: Ok Emily can you hold your arms up so I can find where to place the straps. Emily: Like this. Me: Just like that. Me: Ok all done. How cdo you like it. Emily: I like this one better then the first one you made me. Me: Why is that? Emily: (geting shy ) I got to help make this cute dress. Lucy: HAY. Thats not far. Lucy: Emil you said you where going to make me an outfit some time ago. But you have made Emily 3 outfits. What is going on??? Me: ....... Lucy: Well I am waiting ! PrettyCranium Posted December 20, 2011 It looks amazing! Thank you so much for posting this. I don't know if you saw my other post, but I was having some difficulty with this, for some reason. Your guide will help me try it again. Questions -- for matching the edges, do you just kind of make it fit? The front and back of the blouse are not the same on the edges, for example. Also, does the bend marked A match with the bend marked A, and so on, or are A and B just the lines? Thanks again. How did you fit the bust piece in? That was the other part I was struggling with. PrettyCranium Posted December 21, 2011 Ah, thank you! I had o thought of doing the elastic at the top and the bottom of the bust piece, I was trying to do it at the top alone. I'm going to try this again this weekend, armed with your tutorial. Thanks again for taking the time to answer all my questions.
milkytea Posted December 21, 2011 The dress looks absolutely great! You did a wonderful job, and the "story" accompanying it was also very cute.

PrettyCranium Posted January 31, 2012 I'm really disappointed that this has been deleted. The step-by-step tutorial that had been posted here was extremely useful, and I'm not sure if I can make this dress on my own. Sad.

baldylox Posted February 1, 2012 fenrir z78 deleted not only this, but some other his posts too. Maybe he has a reason. I hate to say it but this is like the THIRD time he's done this. He'll go along fine for a while and then all of a sudden, pull most or all of his posts and comments. I have no idea what set him off this time but I'm sure he will be back eventually. Maybe he can repost them *if* he decides to come back. But I agree with you PC, it's quite annoying and really makes things hard for people who wanted to try thier hand at some of the projects he posted. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
Nightmare Tea Posted February 1, 2012 I can't really say I understand, being newer to the fourm and all, but I'm sure he has his reasons. Shame though, because this guide would have helped a lot of us.

Kumi Posted February 1, 2012 Stupid question, but how do you access Google cache? Link? I'd like to save it. Attention, there goes some secret internet knowledge, using this thread as example 1. Google "Makeing the Simple Dress By: Jadepixel" - http://www.google.com/search?rls=pl&q=%22Makeing+the+Simple+Dress+By:+Jadepixel%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 2. Hover the mouse over the result 3. Click >> on the right, see "Cached" 4. Click - http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:mU94KuPomK8J:www.dollfiedreams.com/viewtopic.php%3Ff%3D17%26t%3D1697+%22Makeing+the+Simple+Dress+By:+Jadepixel%22&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk 5. Save & Profit Internet remembers more than meets the eye... Remember - many, many things, which were someday on the 'net, are still there even when You don't see them. Even whole removed websites, or content overwritten years ago. Try http://www.archive.org/web/web.php for example. I found a lot of information using this site, searching supposedly "dead" links from different websites. Sometimes, if You want to backup more than one page, You can use offline browsers like PageNest or similar. http://pagenest.com/index.html Just set wisely the filters or You will download the whole Internet
