DD "Phantasy Star Online 2" Matoi

I wish they had done Quna instead! I like Matoi but Quna would have had a better full set all around. Still I'm happy PSO2 is getting some love

The nose approaches the more reaslistic style they used in Rise, KOS-MOS and Alna but with a head sculpt that's otherwise doesn't have more realistic features like those three.

 

And I don't care for any of those heads either. I guess I'm not a fan of the more realistic DD heads. But I'm glad Volks does do them so that those that do like that style can get a DD. Plus I like looking at owner photos.

Absolutely agreed with that; I like seeing everyone's pictures no matter what.

And sometimes I've found something I didn't think I liked but actually do after seeing onwer pics.

Having wanted a doll just like this for a while, she sure comes at a rather inconvenient time for me If she had been at a more normal price point, it would be one thing, but with this price and with Volks giving up Paypal...

 

I'm hoping that once more detailed photos/ user photos from the upcoming display at the Volks store surface, I won't like her so much.

In one way or another Paypal is messing us up. Volks removing the option hurting you, and Paypal restricting my account with no ability to fix it means I can't buy her and do a split or sell the outfit after the fact, and I'd consider her if that was a possibilty.

It's terrible we have to want to not like something like this.

No wonder she is so expensive, with that costume and wig! But I love her face, she's so serene and beautiful.

I don't recall how much of this we already knew: She's semi-white, DDIII body (not f3) with medium bust, single-piece torso and has 22mm eyes.

 

Her mouth is pretty much a straight line which is pretty unique among DDs I think.

 

Repeating what I've already said, I like her quite a bit, but she's probably out for me given the cost and that I'm not interested in her outfit or wig.

 

As usual no info on how she is to be sold yet, but the Dolpa After Event is on September 9th.

For some reason I find Matoi's nose so cute in profile...

While she still looks great, I think one of those pics saves me. Looking at the largest size of one from the first link:

I can see her eyebrows are apparently actually purple, which really limits what other color wigs you can put on her. Not a huge deal but it makes it easer for me to say no.

I didn't like the promo picture but she looks really nice on these photos...

I'm in love, she is really beautiful and I like the high level of her outfit and wig!

I love PSO2 but I'm not a fan of her head. I definitely want her full outfit (and possibly the wig) if anyone is going for just the doll instead. I can't justify that much when I'm not a fan of the mold. Shame she looks like a lottery limited.

Wording is slightly vague, but I think that means she will be sold as a clickwar, and once sold out via that there will be a limited preorder, probably as with Luka where dolls will be delivered not long afterwards.

Her sculpt does have a lot of similarities to Kos-Mos, but it also changes some of the things I personally didn't like about Kos-Mos to features that are more fitting to the character I want to make...

I've always felt Kos-Mos' eyes are too far apart, and they look...droopy? Something like that. I like Matoi a lot more.

She comes with 22mm and obviously a very round iris design, plus just kind of an odd design with the bright red but pretty small pupils giving her a somewhat odd look overall. She can probably use 20mm without any fitment gaps as I don't think the eye holes in the head are very large at all, but the way the faceup is done they are made to look quite larger.

 

You and others doing custom faceups can probably make her look very different.

 

One thing a bit odd in the pictures from the link I posted is how her lip color appears sort of orange. That could just be the lighting from where the photos were taken though.

...she looks so lovely and so much better with the visible sclera/smaller irises, and I now want her even more >__<

 

Honestly, I was hoping that this thread would be full of people critiquing the sculpt such that I would be convinced -not- to want her, but no, nobody in the thread has been any help at all in that department
