I also didn't win. Damn. Seems like the rate was lower than I thought... the way they worded it made it sound like they'd do a lottery for what was left over from the event, so maybe that's it? No idea but ouch. I hope I can snag her on the after market later.

Yeah, I'm bummed for you guys. She's a beautiful doll, and I would have liked to see some people here bring her home.

 

Maybe because it's a Japan only game release they didn't think it would be worth making an increased number of dolls to cover international customers entering the lottery.

Congratulations, and welcome to the forum.

 

Since I don't know if you have any DDs, I am going to offer this advice even though you may already know it. Get her a stand. Complex outfits like that are a lot easier to dress them in if they stand up on their own.

 

My first DD was Kos-Mos, and not having a stand for her was a pain when I put her stuff on. XD

Got a winning notice this morning

 

It was technically last night, but they sent it to an old email (I'd updated the email associated with my account around the time that I entered) so I didn't see it till I thought to check this morning.

 

Anyhow, she's all paid for, and now all there is to do is to wait for the ship date!

Oh my gosh, I did win Matoi! They sent it a few minutes after their cut off time, so I didn't see it. Now after I spent money on the new outfits >< anyway, she's paid for! Now the waiting game begins!

And congratulations to Ie-Aster and Kirito and anyone else who won. I was finding it a little puzzling in that it was really looking like most people who entered for Kaede won her and that no one was winning for Matoi.

 

And I'm eager to see pictures; I think she's a very pretty face sculpt.

Ah, thank you that's so sweet! It was very strange that it seemed like no one was getting her. Now I know to keep checking even after the cut off.

 

Waiting until spring is going to be difficult with all the pictures from those who won from Volks Int and the pre order. Maybe in the mean time I'll find her a smaller pair of red eyes.

I really want to see owner photos of Matoi. There hasn't been a lot of excitement around her -- unknown property, super-high price, and (imho) not Volks' best face-up -- but I really think her mold is very gorgeous and I want to see how owners restyle her to bring out her beauty.

Her faceup is wonderful, I think her eyes just throw people off. It's also a Japanese game so I'm curious if they're more excited over there or if perhaps that customer base would have been more excited if Nier and Kaede didn't steal the spotlight xD

Wild guess: People entered for her and Kaede who could only really buy one, won both dolls and paid for Kaede and bailed on Matoi.

I just want her head, and body I need a SWS body also. I'm kinda happy she's not that popular...here anyway...at least I can snag her for a decent price

Her head is the more mature type of sculpt I like best, and I think the faceup is probably nice with possible exception of the lavender(?) eyebrows, but those eyes do make it a bit hard to tell. I don't like her wig and don't really care about the outfit though making her a very expensive purchase for something I'm not sure I'll love.

 

I do worry a bit she'll end up being something when I see user pics I wish I had.

 

I don't know the game since I don't play online or really multiplayer at all so don't have that attachment.

 

And I'm hoping so much for one of the December rereleases to be one I want.

She'll be available until she sells out. It's impossible to tell when that might be, unfortunately. :/ However, it did seem like she wasn't super popular, so you probably have a chance! Good luck!!

Volks also normally puts up a "low stock" message before she sells completely out; however I have no idea how low stock has to get before they put that up.

Well the good news is:

-Nier is pre order. You won't have to pay until next year if you choose that route.

-The re-release dolls will most likely have a pretty good length of time between announcing and releasing, since they haven't even been released yet and Volks typically gives people a chunk of time after announcing to get your wallets ready. Most of the time.

-Matoi will be around and if she's not, I don't imagine her difficult to find on the after market. When she releases in December for intrenational folks and Spring for US folks, she will be in the aftermarket in waves probably.

 

If you need to prioritize dolls between "get now, get later", I would put Matoi last. She seems like she won't be impossible to get on the after market later on when you're ready. I don't recommend putting off the Nier dolls and who knows what the anniversary doll is, but I would prioritize that second.

 

I don't know your financial situation, but if you have a steady income you should be fine. It's not all gonna come out at once. Lay low, save money.

If Volks do the anniversary thing like last time, at least some of the rerelease dolls will come out this December and we’ll find out who they are early-mid November. But even if they do that, there’s no telling how many will be at Dolpa40 and how many will be released gradually through the next few years (like last time) I am personally holding off large purchases until I find out whether or not one of them is MDD, as an MDD rerelease is highly likely to be one I want.

It does mean that you’ll know who the Dolpa40 dolls are before the Nier preorder period is over (whether they’re rereleases or something different)... but as for whether Matoi stays around that long, that’s less certain.

So what does winter or spring mean for Volks normally? Or is there no normal? I'm expecting her any week now. Not for me... mine's coming in spring, but I'm excited for pictures.
