Well... that hasn't happened in a while.

 

Those brown sandals? Went from "In preparation" pretty much straight to "Will Be Restocked". Wasn't even available for as much as half a second.

 

Not sure I want to stalk these over the weekend. I think I'll just wait for this batch to hit Volks USA and try my luck there.

I'm also now curious if they did or didn't change anything with some of the voting results rereleases. Lady Wizard and Lady Archer (but not Lady Thief for some reason) were rereleased in a previous event.

Notice that DDdy was removed from the compatibility list. Packaging was changed to reflect that (with the new photographs) and the barcode numbers are different. I have the newer versions of Lady Archer and Lady Wizard and the (old) Lady Thief on the way but I don't expect to be able to tell anything by comparing that way. Maybe Volks changed them or maybe they just decided they didn't actually fit DDdy to a standard they want to recommend. I don't have and am not planning on having a DDdy so I can't try the fit there.

 

 

Well I'm glad they did change it because it def doesn't fit lol. I couldn't hook the top or middle on the corset for Dahlia who's on Yoko's body.

Also they do change things on repeat sets. It's never exactly the same. Sometimes it's just the color, others a few details or accessories. The argyle set that I have, the colors are different and the skirt is longer. There are always some variations, so it isn't exactly the same.

Like with the current nurse outfits; one is blue instead of pink, and the sweaters were changed from the previous black. But I wasn't sure for the few that were specifically rereleased as results of those "Dolfie The Best" polls.

Ah I'm sorry I didn't read that properly, although I am pretty sure it's still the case. I personally can't recall having seen an exact replica re-release regardless. Although I could very well be wrong.

We all just kind of assume when there is a re-release afterward that particular doll or set was high ranking.

I'm fairly certain the recent-ish rerelease of the White Rose Elementary uniform is exactly the same as the one I bought a few years ago.

I believe the recent "Sporty Leggings Set" or whatever it's called is the same as an older set as well, except the older one came with a hat as well so there do appear to be releases they don't change or change much.

No items were added or removed on these rereleases. But as I was originally posting about, bar code numbers changed along with the claims for what dolls they're actually compatible with, so I don't know if the outfits were actually changed in any way or not. I see now the prices appear to have gone down slightly, though I don't know if perhaps the older listings are tax-included pricing and the new ones aren't.

 

Recently I've gone through all those Dolpa after event and other such pages that are still up, just trying to find all the outfits that Volks has made. I know I saw that notation on some other pages so I am pretty sure they stated in each case what they were rereleasing because of the polls. According to various things I've read here I know they never actually release the poll results though.

A weird part of me wants to go through catalog and repeat sets

I recently got both of the "doctor" outfits with lab coats that can be seen here:

I figured the coats were the same but just the other parts changed. Nope, the lab coats are from completely different patterns and made from a different type of white material as well. Which was a nice surprise really.

Volks USA has now announced the lottery period for this stuff: August 17 - 20.

 

On the Japan store the sandals are now "sold out" rather than "will be restocked" too.

I can't find it now, but yesterday I saw a note on one of the Volks twitter accounts that these would be back in stock at the physical stores on I think it was the 10th. The webstore is now showing the "Will Be Restocked" message again instead of sold out.

 

So might be worth checking in the next day or two to see if they have shown back up.

I suspect that isn't just an oversight, and they really are not compatible. Notice how the opening goes so close to the front, and goes well past the bend in the sole. I'm sure you've noticed how DD feet actually fit into the SD16 shoes made for high-heel feet like these; they work because the front of the foot ends before that bend; in other words, in this pair it's likely you'll actually see the toes and see that the shoes don't actually fit the feet.

I don't remember what all shoes you have but I believe you have the red/maroon satin pumps with the black bows on the back? These -047 fit much nicer than those which are somewhat loose; these are actually fairly tight to get on.

Yeah I really wanted them too. With the few Volks shoes I have bought, I've had better luck with the SD16G types fitting and not being too large compared to the regular SD ones. where I generally need to stuff something under the front of the foot.

I first learned of that version from some post here, probably yours. That version seems much more rare, but I suspect they are newer because they have the current "VS" logo in them while mine have the script "Volks" which I assume is older.

 

I've also seen yet another version on Mandarake that's less pointy-toed, but is still SD16.

 

Volks really doesn't release enough shoes. This current event only has one pair that is listed as DD compatible. Volks must realize this when in Volks News they have to show their dolls modeling outfits wearing shoes that you can't currently even buy. It's worse since most of the time the shoes sell out so it's not like there's much of anything older still available on either Volks website. Someone starts out in the hobby, buys a doll, a few outfits, wants some appropriate coordinating shoes, and they're basically out of luck. It's nearly impossible to buy most Volks shoes on Mandarake because they sell out instantly when they go up. I only managed to get some subset of the shoes I wanted because Jungle had them and they don't seem to sell out so fast there.

Slightly OT, but related: I want a pair of bright red pumps without any kind of decoration. I'm not aware Volks ever made that, and my experience buying non-Volks shoes has been abysmal. I got two pair from Taobao shops that were something like $15 each I think and they were such a disappointment I still felt ripped off. Construction and fit were poor. Just today I received a pair from Crobi:

Fit is pretty good, but they're not made well and don't look nearly as nice as the pictures. They're a patent leather type material, and much of the area around the stitching is cracked and showing white, and the seam between the vinyl and the sole is sloppy looking. They're also a little too high-heeled because to make a DDl stand you have to bend the foot down as absolutely far as it will go.

 

They used to list them in black but were sold out as these are now and the black listing is no longer there; maybe I got the last pair of these. They are probably replaced by these which they have in multiple colors now:

Those claim DD compatibility, but looking at the design I'd be suspcious they'll be just like these new Volks shoes.

I'm hoping they will do shoes as a part of the Best Selection. I have a few pairs of Volks shoes that I don't have identified for my records, and I would like to see what all they have offered in the past.

 

I spent some time cataloging everything I have, and the best selection pages were very helpful in that regard.

The DD blog updated today with the news that the red carrycase/suitcase will be delayed and so presumably not be available at the after event this Saturday. Presumably the pink and white will be available, as only red is specified. The new release date is undecided.

Reminder that the click war for the clothing and other items starts today, 11AM Japan time according to the website, which if my phone isn't lying to me is about 4-1/2 hours from now (9PM CST).

I managed to get the red shoes in SD and MSD sizes, the hat, and the Black Label SD16 outfit in my cart. First time I am trying to save my cart till the 12:30 event, so I am a bit nervous. The only other stuff I want though isn't worth a separate EMS fee.

 

They do have a notice about the Typhoon delaying their shipping. I have a feeling this stuff may not ship for awhile as a result.

 

They took some damage at some of their locations, and I gather that the garden at one of their facilities was damaged. This sounds like a small thing, but it's Japan and that garden could well be hundreds of years old. XD
