cfx Posted July 4, 2018 There's a little discussion of this in the Dream Choice thread and one of the Volks News threads, but I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with it in a doll? For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, it's a piece of foam and some plastic bits that holds eyes in the head without using putty or hot glue, at least for Volks eyes. It's shown here: https://ameblo.jp/blog-dd/entry-12287237040.html I like the idea of it; presumably easier to use, don't have to worry about getting putty too close to the edges where it ends up being visible or worry about any possibility of staining from putty or blu-tak (considering how blu-tak can leave oily stains on posters and walls I wonder about this). I also like the idea of the little tool Volks is releasing so you can move the eyes around. However, there could also be disadvantages like maybe the foam doesn't hold the eyes flush to the head with enough pressure and you have gaps, or I don't know what else it might be. I plan to make a small order to Volks and was thinking of trying this but thought I'd ask for input first.
Bellatrix Posted July 4, 2018 I do have it inside two of my doll heads. I must say it is clever, but I am not too much of a fan: I always took ages to find the right position for the eyes, and you have to be very delicate when placing each one of them because you will probably move the other one mistakenly. If it doesn't cost too much, if I was you, I would get one to try: you might find it easier to use than the eye putty, and I guess it is just a matter of getting used to it! ✩ 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓶 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔁 ✩
BeyondTime Posted July 4, 2018 The dobleepentation they enclose isn't much help, so it took some time to figure it out. It is hard to position the yes, and they also seem to shift on their own sometimes when you move the doll. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
cfx Posted July 4, 2018 Thank you both. I do have it inside two of my doll heads.I must say it is clever, but I am not too much of a fan: I always took ages to find the right position for the eyes, and you have to be very delicate when placing each one of them because you will probably move the other one mistakenly. That was something I suspected might be an issue as well. If it doesn't cost too much, if I was you, I would get one to try: you might find it easier to use than the eye putty, and I guess it is just a matter of getting used to it! It's 843 yen on the Japanese store or $9 on the US one, so not too much of a gamble to try. The dobleepentation they enclose isn't much help, so it took some time to figure it out. It is hard to position the yes, and they also seem to shift on their own sometimes when you move the doll. Not surprised about the dobleepentation. That blog post I linked has pictures of what you're supposed to do and they're not very helpful at all. It took me a while to figure out the specific way they are folding the foam to put it in the head and even then I'm not really sure exactly how it fits, or where they're pulling it down to put the eyes in. Doesn't sound too good overall. As Bellatrix mentioned it's cheap enough to perhaps be worth trying, but I'm leaning against it given both your experiences, and $9 wasted is still $9 I could've used to buy another pair of eyes or eat lunch or something. Ayuuya Posted July 4, 2018 I don't have any experience with the dream fitter but one member of my local group has & he said it wasn't really worth it in his opinion. I can't find the post in our fb group where he was talking about it, but he sounded unimpressed with the materials and how it worked in his girls;;; A different member made himself a DIY version out of a cleaning sponge he bought from daiso for $2ish-- basically a knock off mr.sponge eraser. Since he had to cut this sponge to fit into his girls heads he said it cost him essentially 25c per head He also said that since he cut it to size, the eyes didn't get loose when he shook their heads for a test. He also mentioned he did not experience any gapping when he moved the eyes around-- but his girls have smaller eye holes ( he owns a Rise and an Alna, so like 20mm? ), so I'm not 100% certain your experience and his will be similar. The picture he shared with the group for reference. I haven't bought a sponge to try it out for myself yet :'D I always forget whenever I'm out shopping.
cfx Posted July 5, 2018 Thanks, that sounds worth trying anyway since it costs basically nothing. I do have Sheryl Nome that has smaller eyes though the rest are DDH-07.
xandman Posted July 27, 2018 Was looking for this at the Dolpo just now. But according to them it's not available. Not sure if that means sold out or exclusive availability. Anyone can help?
Monty Posted July 27, 2018 Was looking for this at the Dolpo just now.But according to them it's not available. Not sure if that means sold out or exclusive availability. Anyone can help? Probably sold out, I saw it in the Fu kuoka store the other day so it’s not limited to Akiba. It was also stocked with the non-limited care items. *twitter*instagram*art*

BeyondTime Posted July 28, 2018 I have dream fitter in my Makoto, and her eyes tend to shift out of place over time, and with movement. The upside is they are easier to re-position than with putty. I want a little motor in their head that lets you reposition their eyes with an app on your phone. 1 The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? tarasska Posted September 13, 2018 Thank you so very much for digging this up, what a bright idea! Personally I have tons of various types of foams from resin dolls packaging. It obviously won't work inside their heads, but vinyl is a totally different story. I'll be experimenting with it all morning tomorrow. I was looking for a "Like" or ❤ option for the entire thread to show my appreciation, but couldn't find it. Does it exist? Thanks again!
