PlasticFantastic Posted December 20, 2011 Only a few days ago I learned that Obitsu have magnets in their feet that hold them to their stands and I thought to myself: "WOW that's handy! I wonder if it would be possible to modify DD's with earth magnets to allow for them to have this feature?" For those who are familiar with Obitsu, do you think it's possible? Till Troll Posted December 20, 2011 I have both DDs and Obitsus, and the magnet appears to be in the front half of the foot, from a quick test with a needle. The Obitsu internal foot piece is in pieces at the bottom of this page, and appears to occupy the ankle part of the foot only: http://parabox.jp/obi-setsu/60hone.html The DD internal foot piece, in Mitsuki's post here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=44 appears to extend all the way into the foot. Maybe you could cut off the front part of the DD internal foot piece and insert a strong magnet into that area? I am not sure how it would affect the security of the DD internal and external foot pieces. This is a really interesting idea!
Kumi Posted December 20, 2011 I think I saw such mod somewhere, even with two magnets per feet. I would put a round, flat neodymium magnet under the ankle joint, removing as little plastic as possible. Basically between the vinyl and the skeleton. If You cut of the front, the doll imo won't be so stable anymore in standing position, because the feet will bend.

Where could we find flat enough magnets that were strong enough? These need to be able to work through the shoe as well right? Kumi Posted December 21, 2011 Here in Poland I can buy strong neodymium magnets either in electronic supplies or in model hobby shops. They come in different sizes, like here - http://store.miniwargaming.com/category/rare-earth-magnets/ I think, that they will work best with bare feet. Maybe with some flat shoes, too. Don't know how is the "range" AFAIR Obitsu makes shoes with magnets, too.
PrettyCranium Posted December 22, 2011 Yes, the shoes have magnets. I have pair of Mary Janes that do, and they work just like magnets in the feet. It's a lot easier than modding!
TheParadisePanda Posted December 22, 2011 What I'd worry about is the strength of the dollfie dreams knees. it you used really strong magnets and her feet were planted firmly I'd be afraid she'd suffer a knee collapse and crumple backwards O.O And yeah I'd defiantly be more for putting magnets in the shoes rather then trying to mod the feet but then again I'm kind of a coward when it comes to modding my dollfies! It would depend on the condition the DD body was in, Usually if a DD body gets loose it's actually at the hips. Please visit my YouTube channel for helpful DD tips, tutorials, and reviews! Kumi Posted December 22, 2011 Speaking of magnets, I saw a mod to the knees (iirc), too. Using two small magnets in each knee the owner made kind of "lock" to keep the knees straight.
tsunamidelta Posted November 3, 2012 Way I see it.. if you remove the actual out vinyl of the foot.. to access the internal portion.. You could easily drill a couple of 1/8 blind holes in the foot and mount a round magnet in them.. then put the vinyl foot back on.
TheWhiteRabbit Posted November 3, 2012 I build a lot of garage kits, this site was recommended to me for magnets. They are supposed to be nice and strong and have some really thin ones... http://www.kjmagnetics.com/ Follow me on Twitter https://twitter.com/WhiteRabbit887 Follow me on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/whiterabbitdolls?igsh=czQyZzRweG9hZDM2
