Yui (Sao), Karma (Assassination Classroom), Casca (Beserk)

So, I'm thinking of making these dolls for my siblings, there all huge fans of anime, so I thought of making them these guys.

 

I plan for Yui to be a MDD (obviously) and cutting a DD wig to better match her hair, I'm just doing her first outfit (that's my brothers favorite), I want to use Type-s shikkoku eyes, I don't think there exactly the same color as her eyes but it's hard to find her eye color, sometimes it looks brown and sometimes it looks gray. For her head i want to use DDH-08 head, I think it fits her face well.

 

For Karma i can't buy a male body on the Volks Usa site, so I'm gonna use a DDS body, with a ss bust, and a DDH-09 head, I plan on experimenting with dyeing the hair red, so I'm gonna by one of their short wigs, if the dyeing process works, I'll cut the wig to match his hair. For eyes my sister likes the Type-S Akane ones, I don't think they match his eyes to much, but I want ones that she likes.

 

For Casca, I think I might have to use a Smart Doll, since I can't find a tan skin DD, I think I'll use Summer, I can't decide if I'll go with her short hair "original" look, or her long her "new" look, I might also use her default eyes, as I think her eyes are brown, I may be wrong though.

 

Anyway, I'm new to this forum, but I love Dollfies, I currently don't have one, but I want one (I'm getting a Infinity Smart Doll for Christmas), I plan to save up by doing odd jobs, and selling stuff on etsy, cause these things are expensive.

Beyond just searching now I'm not familiar enough with the look of these characters so just some general comments...

I have the Type-S eyes in Shikoku (black) and they're actually a brown/golden tinted gray so they are a pretty good match for what you are saying. In Volks pictures they look more like a bluish gray but they're not actually like that. I suspect it's the metallic aspect that gives them the gold tint.

Dyeing a wig is probably not the best choice because you will likely end up with fibers that will stain the doll's head and face, which you want to avoid.

 

Red wigs can be harder to find but there are a few wig makers that have them. http://www.formydoll.com is one source, look in the 8"-9" section; they have a few different shades of red here is one example of a short wig:

You can also find some reds at http://www.littlemonica.com and http://www.crobidolls.com. Crobi's sizes are sometimes an issue based on what I've read here, notice they list theirs as just 8" rather than a range, so the 9"-10" are safer but also sometimes too large.

You didn't do anything wrong.

There are tan DDs, but you would need to use a proxy to get one as they are exclusive to the Akihabara Doll Point store. The tan is lighter than Smartdoll though, so it really depends how dark you want Casca to be. Her exact colour is weirdly inconsistent across media, and the figma of her is much much lighter than she appears in the anime.

 

I personally think that you should use a more mature head sculpt either way. Obviously its your decision and i'm not saying your -wrong-, but I think Summer is a little too...cutesy, for Casca? If you go with a DD, DDH07 could work well for Casca, and if you go with a smartdoll I'd recommend this upcoming girl;

(I am not sure if she has a name yet? But her fierce faceup is also great for Casca). The problem with her is her release date is unknown (as far as I know), however hopefully by the time you have the money that information will be available (or she'll already be released)

Honestly, I thought the same thing about Summer's sculpt, but only anime doll i could fine with the skin and stuff. Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it!

 

Seriously though, I wish her skin tone had some consistency throughout media, I love that they have a dark skinned person in an anime though, not a lot.

Nah, I had to do that myself, was annoying, they should do it themselves though, that make it a bit easier, lol.
