Somehow I envision a setup with various rooms (booths) each like a real-life JRPG; you have to make it through a maze or dungeon, avoid traps, defeat monsters, and if you prevail you are allowed to buy a Vocaloid DD, or maybe you have to go through all of that to be given the announcement of whatever it is.

The 'experience' area was something they introduced last year - they had a Miku, Rin and Len out (I guess they'll have Luka this time too) that anyone could touch and play with. The idea was that people unfamiliar with DDs could have a play with them as opposed to just looking at them on display. I think it was a great idea , basically letting newbies have a 'try before you buy', and probably helped move quite a few sales over the course of the event as well.

I got a photo of my Miku with them (Len was off on another table for some reason, I think someone was playing with him)

 

MagiMirai and SnowMiku are the two major events where Vocaloid merch announcements happen (MagiMirai probably moreso...?), so there will definitely be new stuff unveiled and new plans announced. I -personally- am not expecting any new dolls since Luka was only announced last year, but its always good to be wrong

Yeah an interesting outfit for Rin or Len would be nice.

I noticed they said that this time, each happi has a limit of 3 per customer. I’m not sure if it was because they had no limit last year or because they just didn’t stock as many as they should have that they sold out so quickly (not actually sure if there was a limit or not?) but I hope they’re at least a little easier to get hold of for people who want them this year.

MM Osaka starts this Saturday! Hopefully all the announcements come out then and we don’t have to wait until Tokyo the next week.

Me getting ready to drop a disgusting amount of money on those happis, and then cry on my wallet. If anything I just want the kagamine one, but those aftermarket prices on 2017s leaves me quaking.

 

I’m glad though that less scalpers will be able to hoard them, and more actual customers can get them this round.

Ive been following twitter but there hasn’t been any announcements on new DD vocaloid stuff other than Sakura Miku. People have also been posting pics of the Volks booth so I feel if there was anything else there we would have heard by now.

There’s still the Tokyo Magical Mirai next week so I hope there’s new clothes there (either prototypes or announcements), but I gotta admit it’s a little disappointing, especially when there was new outfits shown last year as well as Luka’s announcement.

Edit: on the plus side those happi lasted WAY longer - Rin/Len’s sold out about an hour and a half into the event, Miku’s apparently only just sold out now, which means it was there for nearly 5 hours...a huge difference to the half hour or less they lasted last year.

I hope there is something else as well. Sakura Miku isn't exciting to me.

I didn’t see much of anything from any other merch (Ie figure) companies, so maybe..? It seems an odd way to do it if they really are saving other announcements until later (for other companies too not just Volks) but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I don't follow nendo and figma so I don't know if there was anything new there, but in scale figures Max Factory had exactly what they had at Wonder Festival, GSC's Racing Miku 2018 is now painted, and F:NEX (Furyu's scale figure division) had the Magical Mirai figure. I may have missed something but that's all I saw so yeah not much new.

Unfortunately the first day of Tokyo Magical Mirai came and went and it looks like Sakura Miku really was the only announcement. :c It's kinda a let-down because I think this is the first one there's been since DD Miku even existed that there hasnt at least been an announcement for an outfit...? I really hope we don't have to wait all the way until Snow Miku fest for any more outfit announcements...

I'm surprised the Rin/Len one stayed up that long, I nabbed the listing, but we'll see if someone in-store didn't get it first hoping for the best because I didn't think even for a moment I'd have a shot at it. Mostly because I expected it to be scalped like the Miku one was last time.

If prices stay like this I might try to get the Miku one. I wanted last year's version but the stupid $200+ prices I saw made it impossible.

While it would have been cool to see more outfits announced, I'm actually quite excited for Sakura Miku. I keep toying with the idea of getting a Miku, and maybe Sakura Miku will be the one...
