Snow Miku gets new outfits because there’s a new design every year decided by a contest. (speaking of which, the 2019 winner was also announced at MagiMirai, the theme being Princess, and she’s so cute I hope Volks make that one as well). Theres a nendoroid and figma of the winning design each year too, and a snow sculpture is made in Odori Park for the snow festival in Sapporo (Which the SnowMiku event itself is part of). Meanwhile SakuraMiku is only that one design (hence why there is only one nendoroid of her). Unless I am forgetting an alternate outfit but I don’t recall ever seeing one.

 

Doing a split for her outfit and wig is an option for people who don’t want more Mikus but the problem is I think the teal eyebrows of og Miku and the blue eyebrows of snow miku would look odd with the pink.

You're definitely way more plugged into the Vacaloid fandom than I am, so this may not bode well for new outfits...

I have to admit I find the overwhelming amount of Miku releases underwhelming normally (I love my Miku that being said, don't get me wrong). I have to admit though, I am stoked for this release, I am eagerly looking forward to release photos/info. I love Sakura Miku

There's two versions of Sakura Miku, but the other nendoroid version of her is called "Bloomed in Japan", but the versions are almost exactly the same. One doesn't have the cherries in her hair, but has the flowers instead, and braided twin tails. The bloomed in Japan version is also more of a rose pink that "regular" pink. (I don't know how else to describe the pink of sakura miku?) But otherwise, she is exactly the same.

 

At least there is hopefully less chance of her stock outfit staining her because it is all light colors? :')

I think the changes in that nendo were just changes Good Smile made to that version? She's called "Bloomed in Japan" because she was manufactured there; I believe she's the first nendo made at the factory they opened in Japan.

 

I have to admit I'm not really up on Sakura Miku as she hasn't really interested me compared to other versions.

She'll probably get a re-release at some point, just like all the other Vocaloids.

Seems really cute, but I'm lousy at mentally translating the nendo design to what a regular proportioned doll or figure will look like.

I love this design - its almost magical-girlish - but its sooo elaborate I fear the price if Volks did make it. Especially because the artist tweeted pics of how the shoes actually look and they're super-elaborate too!

But I'd get it anyway most likely....

 

On the topic of Sakura Miku, I do hope she has a new facial expresion. Obviously she would (probably) still have the same sculpt, but I'm excited to see how different they can make her look as I think Snow Miku already looks very different to regular Miku and has a very different ambience to her. I'm also curious if she'd still be SW or if they'd make her NS this time.

Thanks for the pics. Those shoes do look like something easy enough to adapt from existing Volks shoe designs which seems to be how they make most of their outfit-specific shoes.

Yeah, the difference between Snow Miku and regular Miku is very obvious in ramcoy's picture above; I feel like Snow Miku looks more like the character when I've seen her dressed with the regular clothes and wig. The makeup is different beyond just the coloring; the way the eyes are painted combined with the 24mm vs. 22mm eye size Snow Miku doesn't really have the "cat eye" look that regular Miku has.

 

I have thought about the skin color too. Volks marketing for Miku originally talks about "cool beauty" and her being an Electronic Diva which implies why they went with the colder color theme. And it makes sense for Snow Miku, but for Sakura Miku representing Spring a warmer color scheme would make sense and that might extend to using normal skin tone. I don't really think there's a canonical reason she has to be semi-white; Kei's and Crypton's original art doesn't really show her as necessarily paler than Rin/Len or Luka, so far as I've noticed at least.

 

She may end up being less flexible outside of being Sakura Miku though. Snow Miku's blue makeup isn't too intense or far enough from the green that she can't wear the green wigs. If Sakura Miku is given pink eyebrows it'll clash with most everything else. From what I can tell in pictures, Luka has brown or tan eyebrows instead of pink though? So they might do something like that.

I am very interested in seeing how she will look. I know they gave Snow Miku bigger eyes to give her "cuter features", so it will be interesting if Sakura Miku looks different in her sculpt or not.

I'm sure Volks USA will have her in one way or another. OT for this topic, but also in that tweet regular Miku is getting a rerelease with the f3 body.

Note that the Sakura Miku doll shown in the pictures below that is a custom; Volks hasn't yet shown anything beyond the photo to my knowledge.

I was never a huge fan of Sakura Miku because the black and teal, lit-up techy look is my absolute favorite thing ever, on anything, but I'm surprisingly pretty stoked. Very happy there's a new doll and not another outfit. As much as I adore Miku, most of the releases Volks does are pretty whatever. I hope she'll be readily available and not a clickwar or a proxy thing because that would really... really hurt.

 

TBH I'm not sure if I want her or the f3 Miku because I don't technically own an original Miku. I have both boxes of Snow and original and the Snow wig (and some of the outfits) but my Miku is a repainted Snow head. Not having her original wig and outfit sucks. What kind of fan am I!

I'm really happy with how she looks - I cant wait for new pics. I guess we have to wait until Volks News in April. It's awesome that they were able to show her on Miku Day (march 9) too 😄 

I was a little surprised about Miku being one of the poll winners for rerelease, but at least she will come with an f3 upgrade! Still, I hope other rereleases of other dolls will feature new outfits - I would have hoped a Miku rerelease would have her V4 outfit. I was surprised at first that she apparently got so many requests, but that just shows her power I guess. 

(I do hope there is at least one other DD to be revealed for Dolpa41, though, since theres technically only one new one so far (Sakura Miku). Usually the new dolls arent shown until a few days before Volks News is out, but Miku got an exception due to Kyoto Dolpa being on Miku Day I guess...?)

 

EDIT: re what I said at the top of the page about there only been one Sakura Miku design...well, it seems like she's now been granted mascot status for the Hirosaki Sakura Festival and I'm interested to know if this means she will end up like Snow Miku with a new design every year after all... (it does say its only for the next 2 years, but I can see them extending that if it goes well)

Is it just me or does Sakura Miku look less pale than regular Miku in those pictures? Miku and Snow Miku are SWS, right? I wonder if Sakura Miku is going to be NS or if she's SWS and the warmer colors surrounding her in that picture just makes the skin tone look different. Or has her skin tone been confirmed already and I just wasn't paying attention?

Nothing was confirmed other than the single pic of her and that she will be at Dolpa41 - but I actually thought the same thing! She does seem to be flesh-skin, unless it really is just the lighting.
