Opps, meant to clarify they wanted Sakura Miku. But I am also hoping for more releases of her down the line, but when a friend comes asking you for help/advise, you want them to snag their first doll on their first try, right?

As for me, the more I see of her the more I like her, but I'm still fine with just my Snow Miku. Not sure I could handle much more diva than her.

I did mean Sakura Miku, and I expect they will keep releasing Snow Miku too.

I'm not saying your friend shouldn't try in the clickwar here and Japan, but I wouldn't run out and buy her after market if the clickwars fail. Miku isn't going anywhere, she seem devoted to self replication if you ask me. 😛

For people who've never done this before, should I try on the US or JP site? Would the US site be cheaper? I probably can't justify getting her, but... I'd like to, if I can manage to snag one. Honestly, if there's only 39 available then Volks is out of their mind.

I am pretty sure you can still try in both. May 11th in Japan will be May 10th in the US, so their event should be about 12 hours before the US event.

Volks Japan will have more competition during the clickwar, but they also probably have more dolls to sell.

Oh yeah, definitely. If they don't get her, I'll push them not to go to aftermarket (learned my lesson after Rin and Len!). They're just super excited about her and customizing her. I do wonder if she'll get more outfits in the future or not, I think her faceup and hair leads to a lot of nice pairing options.

As I understand it she's now the official mascot of a festival, kind of like Snow Miku. It's possible there will be similar outfit contests.

I was hoping to get a Sakura Miku.  It looks like that won't happen unless by miracle.  why do they make these dolls so dang difficult to get??  It is super frustrating.

I would still try in the click war if you really want her. The trick is to sign in a few minutes before it starts, and then as you go through the checkout process allow each of the pages to load fully. I've never had an issue with stuff dropping out of my cart, or with checkout failing. If she gets marked will be restocked you'll have to camp their site, and watch the forum to see if anyone calls out a restock.

You should be able to do it on your phone if you are at work when it starts.

I'm really hoping she'll be like Yuriko and stay in stock for a few months so everyone can get her.

 

Something else to keep in mind is this is presumably like the other recent Volks clickwars after the website was changed i.e. having the doll in your cart doesn't reserve it for you, until you actually complete checkout.

In other words, it is safest to not try to buy anything else with the doll. Make a separate order instead, even though it will cost more in shipping. If you're trying to get both Sakura Miku and Miku Reboot, do them separately and do whichever one you want most first.

 

I didn't check the times. Are they different enough that there would be two chances; miss getting the doll at the Japanese site and then be able to try on Volks USA (or vice-versa)?

I plan to try, I am working that day in the afternoon and will have to get up early to try for her. I am going to try on the US site as I have never bought off the Japan site and need to use my paypal credit and I think the Japan site doesn't allow that.

Oh for sure.  She would be the only thing in my cart. I will log in ahead of time and make myself nuts during the check out process with nerves.

That's safest, but I think that issue does only apply to the Japanese store.

Definitely best to be prepared, fingers crossed I can get one.  I didn't think she would be available this soon.  I bought the first Miku without all her items and her face up had been removed and had to get her painted...had I known this one was coming for sure I would have waited as I really wanted this one but I was told she wasn't a for sure at that time.

Japan is 1 PM on the 11th JST (which should be 9 PM on the 10th Pacific Time), and USA is 9 AM on 11th Pacific Time.

@BeyondTime so I haven't missed her yet? Thank goodness. I've been troubleshooting some hellacious issues with my laptop today and all I could think of was "if THIS is the reason I miss Miku I will physically go to Japan and consume the entire Doll Point store out of spite."

I confirm, it's stated on Volks site:

Has it ever been like this before? I’ve never bought any sort of Dollfie before and I’ve been trying to get in for probably 15 minutes now. I got to the home page twice but have been unable to get in further. I registered earlier today anticipating competition, but I haven’t been trying to get into a website like this since trying to buy New York Comic Con tickets.  

That was very painful and a LOT of errors/refreshing but I managed to get one!! 😵
