Having trouble with browsing Taobao Shops

Recommended Posts

rukitron

Recently, I have been having trouble browsing taobao. I visit shops like Sen and I am unable to browse all of the shop's contents. I keep getting redircted to a page with the same items for sale and a prompt to log in. I have tried setting up an actual taobao account, but when I type in the verification code I received via text correctly, it says I typed it wrong and then I'm locked from trying again for another 24 hours.

Is there a workaround for this? I don't want to do broad taobao searches through a proxy service.

When I ordered some stuff some months ago, I had this same thing but it only started after I had been browsing for awhile. I checked now and I get it instantly.

I don't have a solution; I just wanted to add that it's not something just you are experiencing.

I can confirm this is also happening to me. Do let us know if making the account actually helped once you are able to log in because my first thought was that they were geoblocking now.

So I had this same issue, and luckily found a Lolita blog that explained that if you make an account it will stop this from happening.

Since I've made the account I've had zero issues. You do have to watch out for having too many pages open because a "verification" bit will appear, and even if you slide it over (Thus verifying) it may not solve it. I personally find logging out and then back in will remove this though.

Another recommended task (if making an account doesn't fix it) is to simply clear your cookies.

How did you manage to create an account without a chinese mobile number? All the references I'm seeing say you need one?

I did not need one? It texted fine to me? The little post I read just said put in your number and you should be all good.

Having the same problem too! My friends seem to have no issue with browsing Taobao.

But I can barely view any item or browsing through category as the log-in box keep popping up.

It happens to most shops, but some are fine.

Double Indemnity

The slider verification thing has gotten extremely annoying now.

It seems to show up when they can't fingerprint your browser and probably computer; I haven't checked if they call any other APIs. Tested Firefox on a different computer with "privacy.resistFingerprinting" set to True and I couldn't use the site (for the record, no trouble with the mobile 2FA on login). Every page was a slider.

Solution is to: Either turn off all privacy protection on your browser or install an extension like CanvasBlocker to store the spoofed values for the site (expert settings > RNG to persistent), which I've been using with good results. Or run it all unprotected in a garbage browser in a VM.

There are no account creation restrictions. Taobao even ships directly (via consolidation) to North America and a few Pacific Rim countries.

I'm having the same problem, even when I browse using Microsoft Edge with no addons or ad block or anything. I made an account but still get the popup to swipe, which sometimes goes through but the page still doesn't load, and other times just fails with an error I can't read.

I know this is an old thread. I was searching what others were doing to use Taobao as I am having the issued you are all mentioning. I made an account but that slider thing is still coming up all the time and doesn't let me look at the items. I made sure I didn't have loads of browsers open and cleared my cookies folders.

Sadly nothing seemed to have worked, its all hit and miss :(

I've been using Chrome lately to browse Taobao and it's working really well since it auto translates the pages. I don't have a lot of ad blockers on it and I only get the slider thing when I first log in. Just make sure you are only using the same browser over and over for Taobao or else it seems to freak out.

I use Chrome anyway. I just went to use Taobao now and it seems to be working fine, I guess yesterday it was having an off day *Shrug*

That's good to hear! Yeah I noticed that if I accidentally open a Taobao link in Firefox then next time I browse Taobao on Chrome it does freak out wanting me to do the sliders a lot.  Just try to only use Chrome for Taobao.

I only ever purchased something from taobao once.. So after returning to the hobby I wanted to browse stuff but it just said to make an account. After reading this thread I made an account and it got instantly frozen after I wanted to log in? What the heck..
Does anyone have the same problem?
I use chrome.
