It might simply be that the Saberfaces are the planned reveal for DDS / DD F3. It would have been nice if Kaede was F3, but I wasn’t getting my hopes up.

That may be, since it's generally how we got these parts to begin with. 2B having a shapely flat bust shows Volks is still willing to make special busts for character dolls.

My bad, Volks USA only lists the DDII parts menu item if you choose to view all categories. They are there though.

I always miss them on the USA site too and tend to think they don't have them. Looking at that now they have different parts than Volks International, so it's likely what both have now is just what is left over. Still, as far as I can tell, the last DD2s released were Neris and Airy in 2011 so at least some parts have lasted quite a while. Hopefully Volks will do the same with DDIII.

 

I hope unitorsos survive, but I do find it odd they don't have them listed in the new stuff. We may get a hint if a December Dolpa rerelease happens to be a girl that currently has a unitorso, assuming rereleases become f3.

One can hope. Any of the 765 Pro dolls (excluding DDP) won’t look as good without the unitorso unless they re-release with a different outfit.

Idolmaster was mainly what I had in mind but I know there are some other dolls with it like Alisa.

 

In a couple weeks my Makoto may get a body upgrade, so I’ll be sure to post photos if stealing Atria’s ams, legs and spine works.

 

What does worry me a bit is it’s a year later and still no option hands / busts / pants for DDP. We may wait awhile for unitorso.

Yeah it'll be interesting to see if any of the parts actually are interchangeable. I'd be interested to know if:

• DD3 shins fit on DD-f3 thighs (or same for DDS)
• DD-f3 shins fit on DDIII thighs (or DDS equivalent)
• DD-f3 feet fit on DDIII legs, or vice-versa
• DD-f3 arms fit on DDIII torso, or vice-versa

I do find it odd that DDP didn't get other bust sizes with the body being sold and also offered as part of Dream Choice (or D'Coord, I can't ever remember which has what).

I think I explained it somewhere here before, I prefer the large hands not because they're larger, but because they're better proportioned and prettier and the fingernails look a whole lot better. I especially dislike both of the fisted regular hands because they look far too long and narrow. That I think is true for all the normal hands but it's most noticable there. I do also think if the hands are placed near the head the size for the large looks better.

 

If it wasn't for Miku's painted hands, which exist in both versions, I don't know that I'd really ever have paid that much attention to this really. I think the tiny painted nails on the regular size Miku hands look pretty ugly.

 

Really it's not a huge deal, but since I like the different hand poses and thus am buying a lot of hands, I get the ones I like better.

Oh, I never got the impression you were saying large hands on a DDP. I was just giving my impression on how I thought each hand type would fit, and qualifying it with my own preference for hands that don't look even slightly too big for the doll. Some folks are fine with that.

 

I do agree that the sculpting on the large hands is better, but the scale just looks too off to me so I never use them. I might use them if I ever did a photo of a doll being camera shy just because it might exaggerate the perspective effect with a large hand closer to the camera than the doll.

I've also wondered if I may find them to look large on a DDS. They look funny to me on Len, but I think that may also be because of the shaped nails and overall feminine look of the larger hands, and it's not helped by him having the yellow nail polish.

 

Edit: Maybe this was already obvious to others, but I only realized it now looking at the magazine more. Volks doesn't sell DDP hands. Not only are there not option hands, but you can't buy replacement for the hands that come with the bodies. Page 155 talks about using both MDD hands and the regular size DD hands.

 

Page 152 has a chart that explains what is compatible/partially-compatible/not-compatible between bodies and that's pretty nice, except there's one bit I think isn't quite totally honest. Clothing between DD and DDS has a single circle which means not complete compatibility; it's understandable since DDS is a bit smaller and pants will also tend to be long, except for the fact Volks never distinguishes between this on practically all of their clothing. More than that though they list the same compatibility leve between MDD and DDP, and it's clear from various people here that pants and pantsu made to fit MDD don't go on DDP at all. Even Volks clothing compatibility confines listing DDP to MDD dress outfits, not ones with pants. That would seem to be a lower level of compatibility and I think should have the triangle symbol.

 

I'm just bitchy, but these charts are to help novices in the hobby so more and more accurate information would be better.

I can see the images in both posts just fine

I thought there was a good chance USA would get these due to getting other VIP stuff in the past. I wonder why its only 12 and not 13, though? Still, 12 would be very useful as a pre-modded DDH01, as there is no concern about encountering air bubbles (which has always been the risk with sanding a DDH01 yourself).

I'm curious if the neckhole is any different to a DDH01 though - and whether it fits snugger on a MDD's neck compared to the slight gapping of DDH01.

Everything is showing for me but what I posted could be because it's cached here or something.

So, those who decided to do the clickwar tonight (Oct 20), how did you do?

 

I see that the SB-SD16G-080 have gone to "Will Be Restocked", but nothing else from the October Collection has other than that.

 

As for the DD Gathering stuff, the Miko sets are all "Will Be Restocked" as well as the ear and tail sets. DD-f3 bodies have been going in and out of that status during the hour and a half they've been up. The White Katana is also "Will Be Restocked."

 

The site lagged fairly bad during the DD Gathering portion. I guess there was a lot of traffic after those Miko sets.

I'm totally exhausted from work today and forgot about the event. The SB-SD16G-080 shoes were the only item I was interested in really and were of course gone by the time I remembered to look. I'll look for the restock or later on Volks USA, but I'm not certain I want them anyway.

Decided to go for the two DDP sized cardigan / skirt sets, and the white luggage. I waffled a bit on the luggage, but finally decided I might use it in photos. It's one of those things where the practical use as a prop is limited enough that it was harder to justify the cost.

I got my October Collection/DD Gathering 2018 order from Volks Jp today!

 

The SB-SD-222 shoes (the ankle strap platforms shown with the miniskirt Miko set) are heavy. They have a distinct weight to them. They're as heavy or heavier than some boots! They also have little bells on them that jingle.

 

I got a SW DD-f3 body to go with a SW floating head. And... I've been struck for the first time by the dreaded color variance. The SW f3 is very noticably darker than the SW head. Oh well. Other than that, the very first impression of the new body was positive. The joints were extremely tight.

 

If anyone else is getting a SW f3 to go with a SW head, I'd be interested in how your results went. I'm wondering if my mismatch is because of the age of the head in question, natural batch color variance, or if Volks darkened the SW shade.

Not seeing any real difference with NS, so I am curious if SWS is a different color now, or if it's just the head in this case.
