Dolliday Winter Swap - Join by November 16th

Hello!

 

I hosted a Valentine's Day Swap at the start of the year, and I personally thought it went well. The responses I got were positive too, so after some thought I have decided to try to host another swap event.

 

This event is for Winter, or Winter Holidays. Last time, I did not really know how much time to give... So I decided to try to start very early and see how it goes!

 

Like before, I am open to any alterations... I have not yet mastered the "art of the swap," so any advice, tips or ideas to change things are more than welcome.

 

I will try to match people as soon as possible, so that gift hunting can begin as early as we can allow it.

 

I will also try to match people based on their locations, to help reduce postage costs. I know for Americans, it can get very pricey to mail things overseas - I am sure it can be the same for other countries too.

Rules, Guidelines, and Suggestions:

- One doll per person.

- Minimum participants: 4 (I'm willing to have a good time, even if it's a small amount of people ).

- Direct swaps if even number of participants, "round robin" if an odd number.

- You cannot request a trading partner, they will be assigned randomly.

- Gift(s) to have an approximate total value of $20 USD.

- Must include a card and some sort of gift(s). Candies or sweets are optional but suggested.

- Try to cater to the submitted information about the participant and their doll. Make it personal! If they hate peanut butter, it would be nice to not get them Reese's candy, for example.

- Consider allergies whenever choosing gifts.

- Proof of mailing is required, like a picture of the package sent to me via PM. A tracking number is helpful, but I know not all countries easily provide that. If you can't get one, no worries - a photo will be perfectly fine!

I'll join. Someone remind me if I some how haven't posted the details by mid month (On the way out the door now for the weekend.).

I'm tired so I may have missed it but when is the gift shipping date? I've done these before and it's a lot of fun but I need to know the full expected timeline before I can say if I'd be able to join. I've really missed things like this but me getting back into the hobby has been slow since my body often can't keep up.

 

Any suggestion on determining the gift value of handmade items? This always confuses me.

EDIT: Sorry I forgot to answer your last question... For handmade items, I guess maybe compare it to an item that is for sale? Like if you made a doll sweater for example, and you found similar sweaters to yours for $10... Then the value would be around $10? I'm not sure really myself how to value it.

3) Push to join deadline back a bit - people will have more holiday spirit in Nov.

4) Set a hard "ship by" deadline

 

And just a little suggestion that I think would get more people interested: rename the swap to "Dolliday Swap" (pun on Holiday Swap)

I got the reminder, just took me a while to get around to drawing lots. And somehow Yumi won again, she must have great luck. But since she did the last one, she had to draw the next name for who would get to do it.

 

Participating Doll: Illya (These MDDs got to be in cahoots.)

 

 

Doll Info: She is a SWS MDD, S bust.

Doll's favorite color(s): Pink and light mint green.

Doll's top 5 favorite things: Illya loves her Miyu's, both her friend whom she wants to save and my Miyu that has 'adopted' her as a little sister. She loves hamburger steak (She says her brother's is the best but mine is acceptable for now.) and mint chocolate chip ice cream. And strawberries, can't forget the strawberries.

Dolliday Wish List: Like all girls her age she wants cute clothes. She likes more frilly things. A pair of light PJs would be nice as it's warmer here then she is used to. And some hair clips and or ties for her little tails. She also would enjoy candy, anything chocolate, minty (Chocolate or wintergreen), and or strawberry in flavor.

Allergies: None so far.

Likes/Dislikes: Likes- same as above. Those strawberry candies are great. So is saltwater taffy. Dislikes- any banana, milk, or coffee/tea flavored stuff.

Are DD/Obitsu hybrids okay? I've got Futaba's head on order, but she'll be on a 50cm Obitsu body once she gets here.

As long as something about her is DD, and it is comparable to a DD... Like if someone wanted to make your doll a sweater, but they only have a DD body. It has to be able to fit your doll too. I wouldn't want someone to make something for your doll using their DD body as a pattern and then it doesn't fit. If those things can be met then yes, Futaba can join.

Apologies for not posting my own doll yet. First we were dealing with potentially moving... so things were packed away. And then my hedgehog almost died. It got very cold very unexpectedly, and she went into false hibernation. I have had to watch her closely, and it has made me extremely upset.

 

My own doll will be posted by the 16th, but I wanted to explain why I have had a delay.
