3D parts for download and print?

Recommended Posts

I've seen some parts over the years, but no one sharing them. Is there any place people share files, or index of shared files?

Right now I'm wanting to make a muscular female body, some thing no one ever does. Since I'm not good working with vinyl, my best bet is to 3D print everything. And since I want it dark skinned, I'll also have to print the joints to avoid paint scratching.

You'll probably want to check out areas of the internet that are more focused on resin dolls.

(No offence to anyone meant, but the resin side of doll collecting tends to be more creative... I don't know of a single vinyl collector who actively manufactures doll parts save for the couple of companies/people that make Peach Pai, and Danny Choo and whatever massive sum of money let him go right into vinyl injection molding.)

I don't think anyone really shares 3D models, other than the Smart Doll XXL bust. Your best bet is doing the 3D modeling yourself. (I only know of model-sharing sites for cosplay props, like helmets and stuff.)

Den of Angels used to have a sister forum called The Joint, which focused on dollmaking (mostly sculpting). It's down now, but it's getting assimilated into DoA. There are probably some 3D modeling tutorials there - Blender seems to be a decent program for that. I'm pretty sure that DoA doesn't require an invite to sign up anymore either.

You'll have to consider how your doll will be held together, too - you could make like Angel Philia and use a specific Obitsu (or maybe even DD) frame, or, if the proportions end up not working, string the body with elastic like a resin doll.

The post above this signature was probably TLDR, and I am very sorry.
